As funky as the home ice thing has been for the Red Wings, their still tied for 3rd place in the EC, and have the same amount of points as the Metro leading Penguins. Thats kinda remarkable come to think of it. Wings get out of Detroit tonight and play in NY against the Islanders. Maybe a break from the Joe brings them some better luck and they can pick up the win.
not a fun game to watch. up 3-1 and then they lay down. this defense is starting to worry me and the forwards arent backchecking aggresively either. Howie gives up a meatball to Brooks Laich and Kronwall has to play the stick on Ovie, yeah it was a lucky shot but it shouldnt have happened. good to see the mule get off the schnide. did you guys watch Ovie away form the play. outside of another russian sniper in Bure Ive never seen suck lackadaisical defensive play. I never thought hed be a Selke finalist but he really makes absolutely zero effort on the defensive end. as soon posession changes he, punches out. Wings better get their act together. Babs has to be seething after that game last night

He should be. Here's what we do know. Just before Fridats game during warmups, he tweeked his groin, wasnt supposed to be too bad. During Saturdays pregame skate, he still felt a little tender and the decision was mad to sit him out Saturday against the Islanders. He should be back real soon, my guess is next game. As soon as I hear anything, I will let you know. For right now it sounds like he should be back...but you know the cat and mouse games played sometimes when it comes to injury reporting.
I cant remember a stretch like this in forever. I really hate the stupid shootout and dont like how a team that loses gets a point, but we were lucky to even have that in some of these games. I thought the Isles were all done when Dats scored that one late in the game. Just really frustrating to watch, its like they dont put in a full effort from beginning to end. maybe teams sense this and they get themselves back in the game. Zetterberg is the captain and he needs to start getting on these guys that are slacking. maybe he already is. If i was him Id be getting peoples faces at this point
I believe its the logest streak since the 05-06 Edmonton Oilers. Wings are fortunate to be picking up a point/game during this stretch...their still in pretty good position for when and if they ever stop this funk their in. Its a good thing their in a division/conference where one particular team isnt running away with things out of the gate.
Detroit Red Wings expect to have Brendan Smith back in the lineup Tuesday vs. Nashville Predators. Wings havnt won since he left. It must be his fault.
Dekeyser is off to a great start. He's going to be a force on defense and seems to be getting better and developing nicely at a consistant rate. I like what I see so far. DeKeyser ranks second among rookie defensemen in points, plus-minus rating and average ice time. Not to shabby for such a young Wing. Wings at home, again, this time against Nashville tonight. Man, they have got to find a way to win this in regulation. Nashville can be very dangerous if taken lightly...just ask the Blackhawks. I read the Wings finished practice yesterday working on shootouts. I hope this funk isnt getting in their heads.
