Interesting and amazing stat - Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk have accounted for 40.4 percent of the Red Wings' goals. That's putting too much of the burden on the top stars. Gotta find a way to get the rest of the guys going. Maybe its just a case of bad luck. I would hate to imagine where the Red Wings would be if Dats and Z wernt scoring...yikes.
A recipe to suck and a reminder to the league that they can roll 4 lines as long as they watch those two.
The good news is that Babcock knows that formula sucks but it's effective to get points early in the year. Better to score now rather than worry about team defense. Offense is too rare. If they stay together all the way to the Olympics, I would be concerned.
Im all for it. Anything to keep the games from being settled by a skills competition. 4 on 4 for 5 mins, followed up by 3 on 3 for 5 mins, ought to decide most of the tied games. I still dont know what to think if the game is still tied after the 3 on 3 is over. I dont like ties, and I dont like shootouts, and I dont like the losing team getting points. No matter what I think, I feel like their going to atleast make it better.
And thats not right, they are making it to easy to form a game plan against them. Shut down Pavel and Hank (easier said than done) and you cut out nearly half their scoring punch. Yep...eventuall, if others dont start to heat up, and consistently, Babs is going to have to spread the wealth out again, and split them up.
I see that...Tootoo is headed down to GR, Cleary is replacing Tatar, and Ericsson is coming back...hence the move with Eaves. Musical Red Wings.
Ericssons first game back has him matched up against Alex Ovechken, thats all. Caps are going to be a tuff test for the Wings tonight.
He certainly hasnt overwhelmed at the top level, and now being replaced by 3 point Dan Cleary, just about says it all.
Lost a 3-1 third period lead, and the game, 4-3 in a shootout. Damn, almost happy I didnt see that one. 0-1-6 at home during this streak...unreal.
