To be fair I was almost right about Andersson/Cleary scoring a goal (they were both on the ice when Smith scored) and it going to overtime with both teams having chances to win. But I like this version better than the screenplay I wrote. Game 2 was the Wings' first playoff overtime win on the road since Mathieu Schneider in 2007 against the Sharks. Tonight was their first playoff overtime win at home since Darren Helm's clincher over the Blackhawks in 2009. It's strange to be on this side of things. The Wings had lost their last five playoff overtime games to the Ducks before this year and now they've won two in a row. They dominated this game in all areas but faceoffs. The two goals the Ducks scored were off defensive zone errors by the Wings. It's only fitting the Wings scored the OT winner off a terrible defensive play by the Ducks. There was no communication between Hiller and the two defenseman. Hiller was in no-man's land the two defenseman both converged on the puck carrier, leaving Brunner wide open in front of the net for the rebound. Poetic justice if you ask me.
the thing is, that MOST Pens fans are tools... and Bs fans... and Flyers fans... and... well, you get my point. i do enjoy the lively banter, mindless as it may be at times. perhaps it's a projection of me on the ice biting off my gloves and verbally pummeling the other fans in a vicarious sort of way. is it productive? probably not. but sure as in hell is FUN. besides, F**K 'EM if they can't take a joke (that goes for Pens fans too).
dont get me wrong Halo there are some Pen fans out there that are ok. like I said I didnt know you were a PEns fan until recently and I got no problem with you. but keep in mind for me being a Wing fan first and foremost and a Flyer fan (if the Wings crap out)it makes it kinda easy to dislike Pen fan. besides as much as I used to like starting sh*t on CBS theres no fanbase outside of maybe USC fan that is so fun to rile up. theres idiots in every fanbase, Im sure theres plenty of people that hate me and think Im an idiot - like I give a sh%t. I joke around a lot in life in general so like you said if you cant take a joke......well Ill let you fill in the blanks
ok Cutter. here's the story of how FIREHALO became a hockey fan: it's 1978 Huntington WV, and we have cable for the first time. i'm watching Ted Turner's channel (before TBS: WTBG 17, i think). it's the Atlanta Flames vs Detroit Red Wings. i wanted Detroit to win (and they did). suddenly, a hockey fan was born. a few days later, i'm going through the sports section in the Herald-Dispatch and i see the NHL standings... alright, Pittsburgh has a hockey team! to keep my allegiance within the great Steel City (since i was already a Steelers fan: 1974)... a Penguins fan is born. end of story. wow, i feel like i'm on Oprah.
thats cool Halo, I just like busting Pen fans balls. my first game I remeber watching was as 6 yr old was the Miracle on ice. I was an instant fan. from that age on watching Don Cherry every Sat night and doubleheader games was a family ritual. when I got into college Sat night wasnt for hitting parties or bars, it was everyone huddled around the TV drinking and watching the game. In between periods we always had NHL'93 hockey tournaments for $$. good times and good memories .....now I feel like Im on Oprah
I refuse to comment or even acknowledge last nights game. I stayed up way late and had to be at work by 430 AM - for nothing. Im tired and not happy. I have temporarily replaced my Bettman dartboard with a Bonino one
On the bright side Abdelkader will be back for game 6. Hopefully he gets the inevitable scrap out of the way early and beats the crap out of whoever he squares off with. Beleskey is the most likely candidate as he led the team in fighting majors -- only six, though. The Ducks haven't had as many fighting majors as they usually do. I don't think Cleary will play. From what I've heard he's still sore from the hit last night. I still think Tootoo should play. Put him in the lineup for Emmerton. Wings will win tomorrow night regardless, and I think they win handily -- something like 4-1.
Oprah time? ok I'll bite.. I got hooked watching the Oakland Seals vs. Philly at my Grandfathers house on abc's game of the week.. must have been in Philly as those away Seals jersey's really caught my eye.( even though in Kindergarten, I still knew not to tell anyone haha)
I wish I had a spiritual secret to offer, but the truth is emotions are better dealt with psychologically. Traditionally, there's a parting of the ways here. In the West, we've come to believe achieving a normal, well-adjusted, healthy psyche is possible. Therapy exists to help us, but even without therapy, people want to manage their anger and fear, anxiety and depression, which is what you are concerned over. But in the East, it is considered impossible to untangle the complexities of emotions, and even if one succeeded for a brief time (miraculously) to tame anger, fear, worry, jealousy and insecurity, new emotions would spring up, or a deeper layer of the old issues would surface. This is why Buddha taught that it wasn't important to find out what set your house on fire. It's only important to get out of the burning house as fast as possible. So, where does that leave us? Must we choose between therapy and spirituality? I devoted a whole book to this question, titled Unconditional Life. In it, you will find stories from people who chose many different paths and arrived at different places. However, "taming your emotions" isn't a workable path, and I fear that you want this to happen. I can see you seeking professional help with your issues; I can see you meditating and finding a way to transcend the pull of your inner conflicts. But emotions are a natural, spontaneous aspect of us that we cannot simply assume control over. Speaking personally, I feel that enlightenment is too remote a possibility when it comes to finding help with troubling emotions. But detachment isn't too remote. Learning to center yourself, to see your emotions as productive rather than your enemy, and dealing with negative emotions as objectively as possible are all good steps of progress. I hope you consider such an alternative. Love, Deepak
and dealing with negative emotions as objectively as possible are all good steps of progress. are sure Deepak said that? it sounds like CarBomb to me.
carlo china doll colonoscopy in the lineup tonight. who's excited?!? seriously, i don't think it's a big deal one way or the other, assuming he doesn't get hurt walking out fron the locker room.
Does that mean Lashoff's out? If so I think it's a good move. The Wings have nothing to lose by putting Cola in the lineup for a young defenseman who's probably in over his head right now. Even if he gets hurt they're right back where they were.
