so who looked good last night? and who didnt? lots of special teams play for Weis and Alfie which I expected. 13 minutes though for a guy your paying that much seems a little light

 

i'm pretty sure the issue with alfie's TOI can be attributed to the 7 minors we took. he's not gonna get any time on the PK.

for the first game of the season, i thought everyone looked ok. pavel and hank looked great. jimmy looked good. cleary played well. weiss i give an incomplete to - didn't get a feel for him yet, i think he's still learning his new surroundings. your boy quincey somehow managed to get the number 2 star. this puzzled me, and i suspected it mighta been the airhead from the macomb daily picking the stars - he's got a long history of bizarre choices. but i looked it up, and surprise, surprise - it was Edzo whut picked em.

 

I meant Weiss, Alfie should be at about 15-16. Weiss is what 30? at 5 per he should be logging atleast that...and then some. but hes a specialist in many ways so the game may not dictate that. all I have is box scores Lulz, I rely on numbers and what you guys say. I cant do this all season *WALL*

I agree on Pavel Datsyuk being underrated, sorta...most who have seen him, know he is a wizard with the puck, but Kronwall being amongst the dirtiest players is going too far, imo. He is known for clobbering a few guys now and then, but he usually passes inspection. Ide say he takes advantage once in a while, and lines somebody up, but 'Kronwalling' someone is not happening on a daily basis, it does get alot of attention and scrutiny, though. I would think its a safe bet, that most people would want him on their team, dishing it out, instead of being on the recieving end. I love seeing someone get 'Kronwalled', but its nice when the reciever gets back up.

 

I would say Datsyuk is underrated. When asking most fans or whoever who the elite top shelf talent in the NHL is, I think most say- Crosby, Malkin, and Stamkos. Id put Datsyuk in w/ those guys.

I think it depends on the perspective. Datsyuk is probably a better pure talent, I think so anyways, but the problem is goal scoring. He doesn't score enough goals and that's more important.

I don't think he shoots enough anymore. Scoring is harder than defense now. 58 goals in the last 170ish games will keep him from being considered a top 3 in the league overall. I think that's why we see guys like Toews ahead of him in so many rankings.

I don't think too many have him out of the top 5 or 6, I haven't seen it anyways. He's 4 on quite a few lists Not too bad for a guy his age.

I think only Crosby is more fun to watch play.

 

Nice come from behind win tonight . Going to be tough going into Boston on back to back nights. Wonder if Babs might play Mrazek ?

Sure was a great win. You raise an interesting question on Howard...my guess is he goes with Howard again.

 

Probably. It is on the road and its early in the season so its not like Jimmy would be tired .

 

That, and there's a 4 day break before the Wings next game.

 

Talk about a big goal...he picked a fine time to get his first. That ought to fire up the club house.
