    The Game
The Pittsburgh Penguins can clinch a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 13th straight season when they play the Detroit Red Wings at PPG Paints Arena on Thursday.

Pittsburgh, which has lost two of its past three games, will clinch with a win. The Penguins can also clinch with an overtime or shootout loss if the Montreal Canadiens lose in any fashion to the Washington Capitals or the Carolina Hurricanes lose in regulation to the New Jersey Devils. Pittsburgh would also clinch if Montreal loses in regulation.

The Penguins are third in the Metropolitan Division, two points behind the second-place New York Islanders and two in front of Carolina, which holds the first wild card into the playoffs from the Eastern Conference. The Penguins are three points ahead of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Canadiens, who are tied in points for the second wild card. Columbus has three more regulation/overtime wins than Montreal.

The Red Wings are on a season-long six-game winning streak and are 8-1-0 in their past nine games, including a 4-1 win against the Penguins on Tuesday in the opener of the home-and-home series.
