Met an older gent last night here in Denver who's from Detroit. The stories he could tell! I had a similar meeting with a gent* in Chicago once. (* The use of gent is not deferential so much as an accurate term for a guy who has aged very gracefully.) I am a bit too young to be able to regale in Original Six era, (1942-1967), hockey. But someone should write a book on it with first-hand anecdotes of those who lived it. BTW, he claims the new rink in Detroit is going to be fantastic.
His comments about the new rink were based on my reflections on the Joe. The Joe is my all time favorite sports venue. His comments on its predecessor were "interesting". It makes me happier because I'm close to mourning over the pending demise of the Joe.
Up 2-0 going into the 3rd, Wings do what they do best... they give it away !
0-12-1 over the last 13. Probably 0-13-1 after tonight. Sometimes a team just has your number. However, if it were in Buffalo... The Sabres have been playing well at home.
Congrats, Wings, you know how to keep a young team in its place. It was nice to see a glimpse of the future - in two words "Jack Samson". The Sabres future is very bright especially since they have not ignored D in team building. But Detroit just wouldn't have any of that last night.
There is no quit in that young team in Buffalo... very impressive. It sure has been fun to watch that team progress over time, especially just recently.
