I was 12 when I delivered the star, then at 14 a buggy boy at the local grocery store, used to bring the buggies to the customer's cars, for $2.65@hr, the odd times I got tips, used to buy fries on my break for $1.

never forget when the dishes were done and was sent to clear tables....the old greek dude would scream at me if I did not put "untouched" leftover food in a special dish for that weeks pot pie hahahaha. man that is why I NEVER order the specials when I RARELY go out to eat lol...

The greeks know how to make a fortune in that business, and they work long hours, yeah, I usually just stick to burgers and fries.

in HS, i used to scrape plates and bust suds at a steakhouse, but only for 3 weeks, just long enough to get a paycheck. i said, "screw this!" and went back to selling weed.

  16. Fair enough Hockeybob. And just to be clear it's not like I hate Kenny Holland. Until 2 years ago there wasn't anybody I know talking him up more then I did. It's just the last 2 seasons I expected the Wings to either sell off some veterans and retool or sell some kids and stock up for a playoff run and Holland did neither. THAT is why I've gotten frustrated with him. That all being said hey, they put a few kids in there this year who look pretty good.

By the way credit to you for your comments on Nyquist on CBS close to a year ago. You appeared to know more about him at that time then I had a clue about and you were right when you said he has a good chance at becoming a regular top 6 forward in this league. After watching how well he plays and how he competed in the playoffs I think he's already there and I won't be surprised if Nyquist becomes a top 3 forward in the next couple years. I rarely spend too much time talking specifically about young players and hate making predictions like this because you never know how they'll end up. But I feel real good about Nyquist and think he's gonna be a real special player.

  17. As a 16 and part way into being a 17 year old I washed dishes at a bar and restaurant for 3.45 an hour. But not just your regular dish washing gig man. Had to walk up and down a huge flight of slippery stairs with bins of dishes for most of my 5 or 6 hour shift. Busted my ass like I've never busted my ass since at a job. And if that wasn't bad enough, they had a garbage/storage room that needed cleaning twice a week. It was the most disgusting room ever. Mice all over the place at times... mouse shit..... just gross beyond belief. And all that for around 20 dollars a night give or take a few pennies. Yeah I lived at home and yes the cost of living was lower then but not like some of today's kids think, 20 bucks didn't go THAT far even back then. Kids are spoiled these days, that's for sure. Where I live they make around 10 dollars an hour, live at home and the labor and health boards are sure they don't have to put up with the bullshit we put up with back then.

Kid's these days think that getting a tatoo or buying a motorcycle, growing a goatee makes you tough lol.

  19. firehalo Guest

yeah, real tough with the Tattoo... my wife has one.
