lol, I'm chewing. i thought they were solid trades. Neither is great on their own but both are favorable value to the wings and the two compliment the roster well given Babs some different looks on the ice. I like what they did. As far as Mantha goes, if Toronto was going to pay 2 million I might have done it. Dats and Zetterberg still good enough and top pair dmen seldom available. From what I've seen of Mantha, he has quite the long road ahead before he helps. Maybe he makes big strides quickly, getting a big minute guy that can play above his cap hit allows (salary retained of course) for a few years might have been justifiable.
The next 3 Sundays will be NBC broadcast of Detroit Red Wings hockey... brace yourselves and have fun out there!!11!!
@ Lulz, Red Wings game is an 8pm start tonight. I misinformed you last night. Probably will happen again .
Im eager to see the new guys. This team I think is very underrated, come playoff time I really feel with the moves we made at the deadline that this team is as deep as any. I havent said that in 6 years. Their defense is their achilles but those forwards are 4 lines deep, and we may get Franzen back.....buuuuut I wont hold my breath on that. Sammys breastfeeding clinic is busy this time of year
Im not positive Benn had anything to do with an apology. I havnt read much about it, or seen much about it to read, but it seems to me that when Cole showed up to practice and was told he was pairing with Zetterberg, he took it upon himself to apologize to Z. Looked like an 'icebreaker' moment too me. Have you seen anything that says Benn had said something to Cole or wanted a message delivered? Thats what I havnt seen. Too me, the entire thing was handled wrong. 1) a Wing should have took care of business on the ice, 2) the NHL should have disciplined Benn 3) The refs need to make a call and quit screwing shit up out there. Benn was hammering Z, concussed him and got away scott free. Tells me the NHL is full of crap on their concussion policies.
http://www.hockeyfeed.com/the-newest-red-wing-shows-up-with-an-apology-for-zetterberg/ The other video I saw doesn't have this angle. Watch was Zetterberg does the first 9 seconds when the sticks were tangled and watch him go up at Benn's head with his arms as he locks him up to take him out of the play. Zetterberg went shady because Benn had won something like 4 offensive zone draws clean in a row against various wings if I recall. Smart move by Zetterberg, part of why he's so good, but he reaped what was sown right there. Benn isn't a cupcake. They gave Benn the 2 minutes, if Zetterberg leaves the ice right away for the dressing room Benn would have had a major as an injury would have occured imo. I didn't see a problem with the call on the ice. Benn will get his suspensions eventually, but not for that.
That does add clarification, Bob and thanks for that. I still see two C's tangled up and then a couple flying elbows... the elbow's were attached to Benn. Just didnt like the shots to the head from Benn and they did their damage. Z was not innocent as it takes two to tangle, but benn crossed the line. (i tried to take off the homer vision )
The return of 'Owlboy'. Red Wings at the JLA against the Calgary Flames tonight... 7:30 PM. This oughta be some fun.
