they're calling it a slight tear, and holland's take, complete with a "who the fuck knows how fast anyone will heal" disclaimer is 2 to 4 weeks. this is prior to getting ultrasound results, so the verdict may or may not change at that point.
Red Wings just 3 points back of Tampa Bay who has been getting handled lately... Wings picked up 2 points in Buffalo.
#43 Darren Helm scored the Wings first short handed goal of the season... it came in game #43. --- Spooky?
i know the Howard injury is tough to take but I'm excited at the opportunity here for Mrazek. you should get a good look at what he's going to bring to the table so that the organization can get a better understanding of what his value is. Lets face it, once Mrazek is ready there will be a decision made, you won't need 2 goalies. Sort of similar w/ the Bruins and Rask/Subban.
Im intrigued also. I want to see Mrazek handle a stretch of play and be able to get in a groove. He has the potential and decent numbers, just want to see at the top level and on a consistent basis.
Kenny, seeing as the Wings are doing pretty good dont you think you could find it in your heart to employ one goon? At this point Ill take freakin Tootoo. 3 fighting majors for the team at the halfway point?! cmon, your killing me
i miss Toots. in a world full of non-entity (sorry, that's gotta be a dash there, not a slash ) fourth liners, he's a refreshing ray of sunshine. i thought he did a great job of cleaning up his act while he was with the wings - i only remember one bonehead charging incident where he lined the guy up from just north of bay city. i've also got a soft spot in my heart for him because of what happened with his brother

Tomas Tatar is the best bargain in the NHL http://thehockeywriters.com/why-tomas-tatar-is-the-best-bargain-in-the-nhl/ i would argue that Pacioretty is but this is a good case for Tatar.
The window is wide open in the EC. The only really sturdy, and flexible, rosters in the conference are MTL and NYR imo. Those two are far from perfect. Boston needs a couple stopgaps too. I still don't think TB can play a series against a well structured team even. If Detroit can get one more physical forward for the 23 man and top 4 d, I think they're the best team in the conference. If there's ever a time to cash in good prospects, I would think now is it. Z and Datsyuk are healthy and will get some off days and the older core should be in decent shape come March. I think it's entirely justifiable to let Kenny put Larkin, Mantha, Ouellet, Sproul, Jurco, picks, and Sheahan on the block to try to get one of those two pieces. Only one of Larkin, Mantha, or the first rounder should go, but multiple other pieces could leave depending on what comes back. Detroit is still going to have to suffer through growing pains as Nyquist, Tatar, and some of the other players learn to really carry a line against top defensive units so one of the next couple years will be a little bit of a step back. I think this is a "go-for-it" window.
For example, I'm saying that if a package around Yandle costs a package around Mantha, it's very justifiable because of how Yandle plugs into the roster for a long time. Kenny has missed out on too many UFAs (Richards 11', Suter 12',-Parise 12', Boyle, Starlman, etc.). Counting on landing one outside of a trade is not realistic.
