Well Red Wings fans...tonights the big game. Are the Wings going to finish them off and advance to the finals? The JLA will be electric tonight. Wish I could be there.
great exchange on nhl.com. one person posts "may the best team win. let's go hawks!" the reply: "you spelled wings wrong "
That was the weakest call for a penalty shot I have ever fucking seen. I turned the game off after that . That was barely a penalty , let alone a PS . Oh well. I know what I will be doing Wednesday ,go Wings lets get it done . Even if they dont win its been a good season . I wont be as disappointed as years past.
You know what? Penalty shot or not ( and I think it was a penalty shot) and even though the Wings lost tonight I figured something out. Tonight I realized how much I truly LOVE the NHL and most importantly NHL playoff series like this Wings Hawks series. The Wings suffered what some would call a devastating loss but that's not how I'm looking at it. I look at this as an opportunity to watch what could be an epic game 7 between 2 rivals who won't get this chance again unless they meet in the finals one day down the road. I've been hard on Kenny Holland lately but man enough to admit he knew something I didn't know because this team surprised the shit out of me this year and particularly this playoff season. GO WINGS... win or lose, I can't be mad.
What a game...what a series...and now, top it off with a game 7. It couldnt get anymore exciting or nerve racking than that. Wow, this is crazy. Going into the third period up 2-1, I was feeling pretty good about our chances, but the Wings just couldnt kill them off. A fitting conclusion to a long time, storied rivalry. A win in Chicago would make it even sweeter. Wednesday night wont get here fast enough.
One more sleep man... one more sleep and we get the game 7 we're all waiting for. As I've said a couple times between here and CBS analyzing last night's game is real easy. The Wings didn't capitalize on many of their chances to put some distance between Chicago and themselves but when Chicago got the chance they buried the puck. A couple mistakes by a young Smith on defense and Colaiacovo's shot getting blocked leading to a goal on a penalty shot is all it took. And everything I just said happened very quickly too. Lost in all of this is Abdelkader missing an empty net with 9 minutes left in the game that would have cut the Hawks lead to 1 with a lot of time left on the clock. The momentum could have easily shifted back to the Wings and with Crawford looking a little nervous in between the pipes last night we'll never know what could have happened if Abdeladker buries that puck. Unfortunately he fanned on it.... that's the way the puck bounces sometimes. Game 7 will be a lot of fun.... And as you pointed out game 7 can't get here fast enough. Let's hope for the best, but either way I think we can all agree the Wings have done very well and exceeded expectations... win or lose,,, no complaints here.
I've been hard on Kenny Holland lately but man enough to admit he knew something I didn't know because this team surprised the 'S!' out of me this year and particularly this playoff season. lets not get too carried away. this team has been playing some great hockey for the most part overachieving even but if they tank it tomorrow theres absolutely no excuse for losing after being up 3-1. did they do more than most anyone thought to get the series to that point? no doubt. but when you get there you sieze the moment like real teams do - and they havent. I give all the credit to Babcock and Howie. Babs is playing the hand he was dealt, he was holding i face card and some 9's and 10'goin into the playoffs and has trumped more than expected. 8 goals in 2 games for Howie is very Cheveldae esque. that cannot happen tomorrow. I give Holland no credit for what this team has done in these playoffs
Cutter you and I have been on the same page for a while regarding the Wings, but this time I have to disagree with you a little bit. I can't blame Howard at all for what's happened the last 2 games and most especially happened in game 6. The second goal the Hawks scored they left Handzus alone 2 feet in front of Howard who was buried in his own net. And the 3rd goal our dman didn't take care of Bickell who was even closer to Howard when he shot the puck then Handzus was. And of course the only other goal in the 3rd period was a penalty shot and Frolik made a beautiful shot on that one. So I just can't blame Howard for game 6. As for game 5, how many shots did the Hawks have? Wasn't it something like 45 that game? I admit that a team up 3-1 should be able to close out a series but there is a reason why I never once felt comfortable with that 3-1 lead in Chicago or even the 3-2 lead going back home to Detroit. Chicago is a great hockey team who just had a great season. They are deep, fast and experienced. Look at this Wings team's defense man. Colaiacovo just played in his 14th game this season. Smith is a rookie who as expected has been up and down this series. This is Kindl's first time in the post season in his career. Babcock was shuffling 9 dmen in and out all season long. Yes, I want to win this series badly tonight. But I won't be angry if we don't..... P.S NO OVERTIME PERIODS PLEASE !!! First of all my heart can't handle O.T in game 7 when the Wings are involved. And second of all I'm up at 4:15am Thursday morning, my son has a very early school field trip. I gotta be in bed and sleeping before midnight or tomorrow is gonna be a real rough one for me.
I think u took that post the wrong way. Im in now at blaming Howie for anything. Withiut him we dont get past anaheim, hell we maybe dont even make the playoffs. Our inexperienced defense is a testament to howie to me. He no longer has one of the best dmen ever in front of him and hes still been spectacular. I was just jokin about his numbers. I have no complaints whatsoever about him
i know a guy who always blames typing like that on his rented fingers. i think it's an excellent excuse

and ya, i agree with 69 - not a common thing howie = good kenny = good (sorry, cutter ) wings = great season, regardless of tonight's outcome game 7 OT for wings - noooooooo, please. i'm the nervous person mickey refers to.
my rented fingers say Wings win 3-2 in OT. Cleary(yes I said Cleary) bags the game winner against his old team.....then maybe we'll see Cleary = good regardless of the outcome Bobs fishing pics = very very guuud
I do offer guided field trips on the Cal Sag. I'm a touch selective about the crowd I take and their fishing outfits. I never agreed with all the hype about him but I'm still surprised he's been a pile of suck.
