  1. i like this kid, thanks for the update. Glad hes in the fold, I think he'll be with the Wings maybe next year. He brings a few things the Wings could really use

An interesting question is this. Does Jimmy go tonight or 'Monster'? The way Jimmy has been playing, may make Bab's think twice. I think I would go with Gus.

Wings are looking good, cutter. I love the old rivalry getting renewed. Last night Toronto was trying their damnedest to get something going and were playing frustrated. Helm and a few others were really taking some shots, but they showed good discipline.

Man, Quincey and Kindl even played pretty good. A few mistakes, but over-all, not bad. Ericksson and Smith didnt have me cursing too much either.

I hope tonight they can come out with some of the same intensity. They may have to turn it up a notch too, because the Leafs are getting really pissed and their going to bring all they got.

Saturday night sports... Wings game, FSU and ND... not too shabby. :)

  5. mo - the first thing i'd suggest u try is using a different browser. i've had a variety of issues with this shoutbox in the past, and they seem to come and go for me. this season, when i tried using IE, which i had been using last season, for some reason still unknown, i had no sound - i wouldn't get an audio notification of any new shouts. i switched back to opera, and now it seems to be ok - at the least, sound is working.

give a different browser a shot - if that doesn't work, i think i'll probably pass the buck to tim at that point - he's more knowledgeable about this kind of thing than i am. i'm a computer geek from way back, but web coding is not my strong suit, and that's an understatement.

Leg spasm forces Detroit Red Wings' Johan Franzen to leave game, but he might return on Saturday Night.

Petr Mrazek has been called up. Waiting word on who the injured goalie may be.

So, Gus gets off the bus and starts tonight and Petr gets to ride the pine in back-up duty.

Trade rumors about Tyler Myers continue to swirl, and of course Detroit had serious trade talks before about him.

There are a few Sabres fans that are capable of looking at trade requirements from both teams' perspective. This is one of the more logical ones I've seen:
Jurco is a prized prospect, but I have to believe that he could be moved for the right deal. Does this proposal make any sense for Detroit?

  10. ...Plus Kindl is better than Quincey.

I would entertain that trade. As long as they can keep Mantha out of a potential trade I think it's worth looking at.

  11. I'd been using Chrome up through the playoffs last season and it worked fine. Ever since this season started, though -- which is coincidentally about the time I moved -- I've been having lots of trouble with it. I also just got a new computer and I'm not sure exactly what is and isn't installed on it. I'll give Firefox a try and see how it goes.

I have watched Myers reclaim his game since Nolan was hired, and at 24 he's still below the age that most blueliners truly establish themselves. He has tremendous upside, therefore trading him to a divisional foe is a big risk. For this reason, I believe that Tim Murray could reasonably expect the Wings to "over pay".

As for the above trade speculation; I think it is pretty balanced. I hope that Buffalo is not too insistent on obtaining Mantha since I do not see that happening. At the very least it would require a package of Myers and a highly praised prospect and/or one of the Sabres firsts (from NYI or STL). Anyone else coming back to Buffalo would be to accommodate the Wings' cap needs.

If you're not familiar, Daniel Catenacci, was a third round pick, but would have gone much higher after his last two OHL campaigns. He reminds me of a larger version of CBJ Cam Atkinson. Few Buffalo fans want to lose him.

Just like virtually all rumors, this one will probably not happen, but unlike many fan suggestions, this one cannot be immediately dismissed.

  15. No Jurco or Mantha if its up to me. No way no how. It'll take a whole lot more than Myers for either one. I'd be more inclined to off Tarter sauce. I like him but....

They ever get Alfie back, he would be the righty shot from the point on the PP they've been waiting for. He can still slap it.

I thought some might like to know that the Sabres will retire Dominik Hasek's #39 prior to a game against the Red Wings on January 13. I have posted the team's press release on the Sabres board. The Dominator had one heluva career.
