  2. That loss was straight up BS. The Ducks didn't deserve to score in that game let alone win.

  3. mo! good to see ya :)

  4. Couldn't let that one go, Lulz. I would rant about it to my friends but none of them follow hockey (living in NC certainly has its drawbacks). I haven't been that pissed about a call/non-call in a long time.

Glad to see you around Mo. Stop back soon and often.

If I were to take something positive from last nights game, the Wings took the play to them consistently, but just couldnt get the puck to go in. I recall Franzen and Z missing wide open net chances and that kind of stuff i think will turn around.

In general, between the preseason and the first 2 games of the regular season, Im very impressed with the puck control and scoring chances the Wings are creating and I believe soon they will be rewarded. They look good out there. All 4 lines creating chances.

I agree, the Kronwall hook on Getzlaf (32.5 secs left) in the neutral zone and the borderline interference by Franzen (2 secs later but that's a bad angle, I can't find the other one) really blew my mind. All three penalties in the 6 second sequence really made me....
happy that the refs let 3 marginal calls go and let the players decide in the last minute. Kronwall keeps his skate off of the board and they go to OT in all likelihood.

Fuck those 2 in the booth, just terrible. Those miserable clowns need to pick a lane. They are the first ones to argue letting the refs hold the whistle unless they are positive they saw something, and that when in doubt, let the players decide. MOAR mute. At least Kenny gave credit for an amazing goal eventually. It was a pretty one.

What's with Detroit Dmen leaving Howard out to dry so often?

I'm not sure when but I remember talking about Chelios and how his role was reduced to extend his career. He was high in Norris voting, but it was inflated by the name and the system. He was still excellent, but that was because of how he was used by Scotty. Here's an example from the excerpt above:

I thought this was interesting because you see coaches use bigger or slower dmen effectively depending on retrieval and assignments. Just something to keep on eye on with big dmen and what can go wrong or right when some dmen switch teams.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting to Wings fans too, the comments on Yzerman were pretty good and I'm sure the book has plenty more. Santa will bring me copy or I'll eat his reindeer.

  11. i hear reindeers is tasty.

  12. Bobs just itching for me to comment on all this Chelly stuff

  13. I'm gonna one up you Bob. If that's not under the tree I'll light the fire when he's getting his fat ass up the chimney. And he can forget me ever leaving him special brownies :)

  14. how soon weve forgotten Paul Coffey(EDM) and Scott Neidermayer (NJ).

  15. just want to say thanks for the link and info here Bob. I had no idea he was doing a memoir or anything. I hate reading books but I can promise you I will have that one. Really good read even what you posted. I loved Chelly not just because of how he played but how he never held back even in interviews and I love that about him. If I didnt suck so bad at hockey I always thought Id be just like him if I played. I love the candidness about him, hes like the Barkley of the NHL. I have more respect for people that conduct themselves that way then put on an act. His on ice behavior wasnt always respectable but its such an emotional game, I used to get so fired up when we played the Hawks, Leafs or Avs just watching it on TV. Cant tell you how many times I had to go in the other room and calm down because I was gonna lose it. Anyhow, you know how much I love that guy and I really appreciate it *THUMBSUP*

.....funny the wife was just asking me last weekend what I wanted for XMas

I'm not trying to get the debate up. He explains in the book many of the reasons why he was so effective at 40 is all. I don't think it's a knock, it speaks volumes about his ability to thrive in a role and for an organization to understand how to best use him.

Anyway, I thought this would make Cutter's exclusive reading list. After we both read it we can start a book club thread.
