This is curious, especially if he's playing with the triangle headed one. I can't fault the logic, but I wonder if he can score enough to have enough meaningful shifts in the top 6.

 

I think Helms speed and willingness to go to the net is going to be the factor their hoping for. Sure hope he gets a scorers touch.

 

Quencey just signed a contract worth 8.5 mil. Might have something to do with the delay. Dekeyser a while back sounded pretty certain a deal would be done before camp. He and they better get together quickly because camp is knocking on the door. I dont think he wants to hold out either.

 

looks like another year with no goons *WALL* even worse, we have no one that'll fight - effin sad. Never thought Id miss Tootoo. Im putting the over and under on fighting majors for the entire team this year at 3

I thought for sure when they were switching over to the East they would toughen up a bit because of the Boston, Toronto, Montreal stuff. I was wrong. Hollond right off the get go was saying they wernt going that direction, that they would use their speed and skills to do their talking. They will more than likely get pushed and smashed around, beat up and banged up, but if the game is called correctly, the special teams play is going to have to execute which might win the Wings some games.

I havnt gone soft yet...I'm just trying to roll with the punches for now and try to see things from a different perspective. I guess maybe even a Datsyuk or Zetterberg cheap shotted injury wouldnt change the leaderships direction or stance on fighting. The times they are a changin'.

ya, he can - and i sincerely hope to never see him do it again, at least until he retires. if he were to break a hand, i would not be happy. if u told me i could only have one reason to watch hockey, he'd be that reason right now.

 

me too Lulz, Im old school and covet the stars and think they should be protected. He shouldnt have to do that crap. Thats wjy you have a 4th liner blah blah blah, you know what Im gonna say. It just kills me that even though the game has changed quite a bit since when I considered the heydays, that the team doesnt have someone to answer the bell. Pavel or Hank go down from some BS - forget about any chance at all at the Cup. The team could use a guy that would not only bite the end off the cigar but eat it....when its lit

Red Wings and Blues prospects game is tonight and 7 minutes in, Mantha scores to give the Wings a 1-0 lead. Going to be fun this preseason watching Mantha battle for a spot on the team.

Wings prospects win it in OT, 6-5. Mantha scores 2.

 

Game 2 at Traverse City prospects camp has Mantha scoring another. Thats 3 goals in 5 periods of hockey.

 

I love this Mantha kid, we havent had a center even close to his size since that stiff Primeau. I really hope he makes the team. Im also a big JUrco fan and would like to see him get a long look. I still cant beloieve we have freakin CLeary on the team when you have some good young talent waiting - what a waste. If the team is gonna try and justify keeping a player like him than go get me my goon!! Cleary is no less of a wasted roster spot than Parros would be

 

Alfie may not even play for the entire preseason. That's not helping things at all. Mantha... it's your turn.

Something finally registered with me. It says 'locked up for many years' and then reveals its a 2 year contract. I would assume he may have wanted more and settled for less. Good for him. Maybe the thinking was to see what he can do in a 2 year span and then see what the market or the Wings can offer.

Might even be more cash available in 2 years because of all the TV contracts and stuff. Just seemed to be a bit strange after further review.

 

So why did it take until 9/16 for a bridge like that?
