Q will gripe, and I think he'll gripe before the series is done. I think he was calling out the official there for a bad explanation more than complaining about the goal actually being waived off based on how he normally answers questions. When he's bitching, he takes on a nice purple color, we might see that game 5 or 6 when it heats up more.

  2. If that's true then at least I'll understand why he said what he said and why he was angry about the call. But if that's the case I'll never understand why he didn't expand his answer a little bit to the question he was asked. Instead of, "he didn't touch the goalie" why not say, "the ref told me he touched the goalie but look at the replay, he didn't" ????? He wouldn't look as stupid as he looked or sound as stupid as he sounded if he explains himself properly. And he also couldn't be accused of whining because the goalie really wasn't touched. When all he says is "he didn't touch the goalie" he implies that you can't or shouldn't disallow a goal unless a player touches a goalie which isn't true at all.

Remember many years ago where the league instructed the referees to waive off a goal if a player's toe was in the crease? I actually didn't mind that rule one bit. I liked how it was straight and simple. There is a crease, stay out of it and you're fine. If even your toe is on the line when the puck enters the net it's not a goal. All they needed to do was expand on that rule just a little bit to let referees do video reviews to see if a player was pushed in or if they went in on their own. Or review whether or not the goalie came out of the crease and initiated contact.

Almost everybody complained about how stupid that rule was because a player could have been on the other side of the crease, didn't interfere at all yet the goal didn't count but to me I liked how black and white that rule was. No grey... it was simple. Stay out of the crease.

  3. Seriously, every fan base has good and bad fans. I think the reason some people think Boston fans suck is because of a few morons. Like that "MiamiTom" guy on CBS? That is his name, isn't it? The guy is the biggest loser I've seen on any website ever. It's always Rah Rah when it comes to the Bruins and to him everybody else in the league sucks ass. He yaks and yaks but the second things aren't going well in a game for his team he disappears. The second things improve a little bit he's back... all it takes is for one or two other Boston fans to back him and suddenly you have people believing the entire fan base sucks.

  4. no matter what anyone thought of the rule itself, has there ever been a bigger failure to use replay to come to a proper conclusion than brett hull's cup winning goal?

One of the few things Bettman admits he regrets.

    Just terrible.

  6. I remember that and I kept waiting for the refs to bring both teams back to the ice and finish the game . Bettman decided he wanted to leave the arena alive , so he deemed it a goal .

Oh and never insult Darth by calling him Sid .

  7. Also Q is just trying to work the refs for some favor in game 4 . Chicago can still win the series if they lose game 4 . But it would be very tough . Its smart, even though it comes across as whiny , to work the refs .
I do hope his losing streak against Detroit continues in the post season. He will be first in line waving goodbye to the Wings as they move to the EC next year .

kleenex Magnum? in all seriousness Im gonna leave the 'bad call' alone. theres so much I want to say but Im not gonna get to high here. this Hawks team is no joke, yes were up 2-1 and ALL the pressure is on them - even more so than when the series started. we'll see what happens, if the Wings win the next one the fat lady will be out. but I dont count my eggs too early. great win boys and 2 more to go. good thing is we at the very least will now get 2 more home games. dont take your foot off the pedal.

as always Bob Ill give you credit for not sounding like so many crybabies with the excuses etc., it is what it is. there has never been a playoff series in the history of hockey that every fan thinks was called fair. but the good teams can overcome that. dont count this team out people

  9. Fine, then work the refs. Speak your mind, take the fine and move on to the next game. I have no problem with a coach complaining but saying something stupid like "he didn't touch the goalie" when it doesn't matter if the goalie was touched or not in my opinion is frickin idiotic. Yell and scream... slam on the podium... explain yourself.... it came across as whiny because it was exactly that, whiny.

I agree with Cutter though.... game 4 isn't going to be easy for Detroit. Chicago is going to throw everything they have at the Wings and I'm not sure how the Wings will handle that. But..... we'll know in about 48 hours... stay tuned folks !!!

  10. Unless the Wings win games 4 and 5 *OK*

  11. Just give me game 4, that's all I want for now. Even if we lose game 5 at least we'll have 2 chances to win that very tough to win 4th game. Game 4 is just huge because losing game 4 gives the Hawks a ton of life and makes game 5 even that much harder to pull out.

I'll be shocked if the Wings take game 4. I think it will have to be the Jimmy Howard show for that to happen.

So much easier watching a series where I like both clubs but has no immediate bearing on the Bruins.

Hawks pk has tied the record for consecutive postseason kills. I wonder if they are going to run Detroit and lean on it a bit. Detroit has been winning big 5 on 5.

  14. Bob. That's some good thinking there sir !! Honestly, I think if I'm Coach Q that's something I seriously consider for game 4. Could be something that helps get Detroit of its game and the Wings could retaliate and give the Hawks some PP's which could help get the Hawks big boys off and running on the score sheet.

Of course there is some risk involved too. If the Hawks streak ends and the Wings score a couple PP goals it could help Detroit win this series. I can't wait until tomorrow night.

  15. I know what you're saying Matty. This game for the Hawks is as close to a must win game as it gets so I expect them to come out strong and play a great game from start to finish. Howard will definitely have to be great or the Wings aren't winning anything.

I also agree that watching other teams versus our favorite team is much easier. Especially overtime because honestly I have a very difficult time with playoff games that go to O.T when the Wings are one of the teams playing. Nerve racking for sure.

  16. I heard somethin on sports radio that toews has like 3 goals in 28 playoff games :)lets make that 31

  17. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Toews has been shut down by everybody in the postseason since 2010. Shhhhh, just don't tell Hawks fans, it would be like revealing who Santa is. They were all over Kane for not scoring, hardly a peep about Toews until after game 2 of this series.

This is a more of a ditch topic. I'll stop for now. I dare not speak poorly of Toews, I will be injured by fellow hawks fans.

I have nothing but respect for Zetterberg's game but I think his effectiveness might be overblown. Every number 1 defensive center Toews has been up against in the postseason for 3 years has had success against him. I'm not saying that Zetterberg isn't playing well, only that it hasn't taken a superhuman effort to shut Toews' line down the last few postseasons.

Seabrook is a pile of suck this year. Look for him to finish 4th or 5th in minutes for the Hawks game 4, I don't think he had 20 minutes in game 3. Lots of issues with production from some of the "core" types. Crawford has been fine.

  18. maybe overblown this time around, but i've always felt hank was the better shutdown guy of the euro twins (which is an odd nickname, since pavel's actually from asia). triangle head makes the sexy plays - the takeways, the backcheck out of nowhere - but hank is a relentless smothering presence that's less photogenic but, i believe, overall more effective.

  19. Datsyuk was born right on the border of Europe and Asia. I'm not sure what that makes him.
