So, I guess he got it half right - they didn't take him at #4. But that part that first part, way up there? ?ESPN has reported all night that the Cleveland Browns are taking Johnny Manziel and I am here to tell you they are not"?He was dead fucking wrong. And again, was Glazer not available when they picked Manziel later in the draft? He seemed so sure that he was the pick instead of Manziel...

My point was, regardless of whether Glazer was wrong or not, was that you sucked on his crank like a cheap whore. And, to support your argument that he was going to be dead-on, you used words of encouragement on Twitter from other reporters/journalists. I told you that didn't mean a damn thing - I'm still telling you that didn't mean a damn thing - and you still haven't understood that. You then have the gall to call out people who report things as fact on Twitter, and those who perpetuate those falsities. I'm not disagreeing with you, I just think it's worth pointing out the position you're coming from.

It doesn't seem like we're getting anywhere. You think I'm a fucking moron, I think you're a fucking moron. The difference is, the facts support me. So I guess it doesn't matter what either of us think.

Dline give us your source for the ESPN comment above. I dare you.

I'm curious, is any time a WR gets open deep a conspiracy? If so, there are a lot of those and that team still loses a lot.

Tech, you have an excuse for when either team wins the superbowl. Either it's fixed for New England to win or it's fixed for Seattle to win so people don't think it's fixed. You know it gets that much harder to believe the NFL is fixed when you think up and convince yourself (and maybe others) that no matter the outcome, it was probably a fix.

Personally, I'd say if it was all scripted then Peyton wins last year and retires like Elway instead of potentially retiring after yet another pathetic playoff performance (if he retires this year).

  5. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

Well, if that's interesting, then Chicago's DC Mel Tucker must be the Most Interesting Man in the World. That guy's defense inexplicably left people open on every play.

God you're easy. I didn't dare you because I didn't think the quote existed. I dared you because I knew any link you provided would show that you ignored everything else in the link to find a quote to suit your needs.

So you went to the link above and decided to just ignore the title...?

Fox Sports? Jay Glazer: Browns Will Draft Me Before Johnny Manziel At No. 4

And you preceded to ignore the two paragraphs just before the one you mined your post from...?

The quote in the third paragraph, the one following the two you ignored above was Glazer responding to ESPN's (specifically Chris Mortensen) report that Johnny would be the 4th pick. The ESPN report actually specified "if he was available at 4". That was what "ESPN was reporting all night" and that was the statement Glazer was responding to in the interview.

For the record, I don't think you're a moron. It actually takes a modicum of intelligence to try and twist facts around to suit your argument. You're much worse than a moron. You actually know what Glazer said, you know what he was responding to and you know he was very specific in his comments that he was talking about the 4th pick. And even if you didn't recall exactly what he said your google search produced an article that included with the No. 4 pick in the title.

So you saw the title, saw the two paragraphs that preceded Glazer's quote and still had the balls to come on here and place it in this thread out of context to try and influence anyone that was reading along. And then naturally, you went a step farther and tried to end the discussion in the last paragraph because you knew any further conversation would shed light on your little subterfuge.

    And again for the record...

I was content to leave this argument where it started... May 7, 2014. Why you continue to bring this up is borderline schizophrenic behavior.

I heard some interesting stuff on deflate-gate coming back from the gym. Apparently each team has their own balls (insert stupid joke here). But seriously, they don't intermingle balls with one another (again stupid joke).

They keep a certain amount for one team and they and only they use them.

They keep a certain amount of footballs for the other team and they and only they can use them.

Conclusion: If this has been going on a long time (NE shenanigans with the footballs, then they potentially have had an unfair advantage for many games in particular in bad weather due to these antics). And we know from the past Bill Belichick will do anything to get an edge (even bend/break the rules).

    Hmmmmmmmm

I can't help but think I'm playing right into the NFL's hands by talking about this subject though. It is a HUGE distraction from the bigger issues: suspicious officiating, intentionally horrible rules, intentionally awful refs, etc.

I don't know which way the NFL is fixing stuff and or why, or even if they fix a lot of games, very few or none (and/or whether shady vegas types have rigged some stuff or not). I have my suspicions and opinions and where there is smoke there is often fire. I'm just asking questions and openly pondering stuff. Who really knows? This is a thread for brainstorming and speculation and fun (or if this isn't even remotely fun for you banging your head against a wall at it). And maybe some truth along the way too, or not. I don't know. I have even made assertions on your board and ours about stuff that went Steeler's way at times in the past and in the present and openly questioned things that went in our favor. (Seattle Super Bowl anyone?)....but Steelers got screwed in Indy during those same playoffs and still pulled that out .... and so it goes. I think the NFL may be getting so controlled that it soon may not be possible to overcome the bad calls as well as the other team at some point (if not already some games). That possibility sucks.

Look on the bright side, we have a thread for this sort of thing now so these kinds of speculations shouldn't be made on other threads any more. I'm not talking anything but official NFL type stuff on the other threads going forward (I may during game threads say something like "oh man, just posted something on conspiracy thread and banged my head against a wall" during games I think something weird is happening to my Steelers either of the NFL, ref, self-inflicted or other variety).

I do still reserve the right to make non-conspiracy related criticisms of Tomlin, other coaches and players on other threads where that would be appropriate.

Can we please get to the NFL draft already.

Btw, I am taking the family to another NFL mecca - Boston - this year. Plan on spending a lot of time in Back Bay. I've heard it's cool. We are trying to see a few cool new cities every year. I'm excited to see Boston despite the Patriots.

Interesting how the NFL wants to argue that they are a single entity when it suits them (spygate lawsuit), but some owners want to argue just the opposite when they want to move their team to a different city and the NFL doesn't want to let them (link below from today on profootballtalk.com):

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/01/17/rooney-rattles-the-legal-sword-at-kroenke/

So the individual owners want to appeal to anti-trust laws (of which the NFL is exempt) at times when they want to do what's best for their team/business and judges in the past have obliged those individual owners and let them move despite the NFL's protests and in spite of their process for a certain amount of owners having to sign off on a move, but during the spy-gate lawsuit to avoid having to pay damages (due to if one team cheats and wins it hurts the other team's value even with all of the shared money) the NFL basically argued that they are a single entity and each team works together as a part of the whole to provide entertainment and they appealed to their anti-trust exemption and the judge obliged.

So in one instance the judges allow something the complete opposite of another instance. In one instance the precedent of anti-trust is applied (despite the exemption) and the individual owner's team is legally recognized as having it's own rights over and above the NFL's in general "corporate" rights as a whole.

And in another instance the anti-trust exemption comes into play and the NFL is allowed to avoid a lawsuit from fans who unjustly saw their team lose based on the ruling that basically recognized the NFL teams operate as one unit or corporation to provide entertainment.

The above is my understanding of these things based on what I've read. Feel free to comment.

The New England Deflatriots deserve to be penalized 2 first round draft picks, Tahwmmy Brady should be suspended 8 games, Belicheat should be banned from the league - if if IF they intentionally did this. How long have they been doing it if so? How many years worth of games were tainted? How many other things are they cheating at but we don't know about yet?

    Do you want answers?

    I want the truth!!

"If the report is accurate, how were 11 balls under-inflated, each by a significant amount?

The ball is, by rule, to be inflated with 12.5 to 13.5 pounds of air per square inch and weigh 14 to 15 ounces. Two pounds of air per square inch is a lot, given those guidelines. It's surprising the officials, who handle the footballs throughout the game, didn't notice. Reports on Tuesday said after Jackson's interception in the second quarter, word got to NFL director of football operations Mike Kensil in the press box and he told the officials at halftime.

A source told Mortensen the league is "disappointed ... angry ... distraught" at the latest findings.

Adding to the story, CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora reported that in the Baltimore Ravens-Patriots divisional playoff game, some of the Ravens believed the kicking balls used in the game were under-inflated.

The NFL had no comment immediately on Mortensen's report.

As the NFL's investigation continues, the Patriots' past will continue to be brought up. The Patriots and coach Bill Belichick are still reminded of Spygate, the 2007 scandal in which the team videotaped opponents' signals. The Patriots were fined $250,000, Belichick was fined $500,000 and the team was stripped of a first-round pick. If the NFL finds that the Patriots purposely deflated footballs against the Colts, which would have made them easier to pass and catch in the rain, the league could fine them, and there was a report the NFL could take a draft pick from New England.

The Patriots won the AFC championship game 45-7, and under-inflated balls weren't the reason for that. But it will be on the NFL to find out how almost all of the primary footballs provided by the Patriots were under-inflated. Even if the footballs weren't the reason the Patriots are going to the Super Bowl, if they are found to have altered the balls after the referee's pregame inspection, the NFL will presumably send a strong message.

to all those saying it didn't affect the game and who won, what games has it affected that we don't know about? Also, the Patriots had ball control potentially due to 2 pounds less pressure in their balls. Rain usually produces lower scoring games. This is due to lack of ball control....by the way, Brady said in 2011 that he prefers under-inflated balls.

Honestly, the sad thing is they clearly outclassed the Colts to a point that they didn't even need to do this, if they are found to have done it intentionally. As a Ravens fan though, I have to wonder if they did this in the divisional round and how much of a factor it played.

The league doesn't have the balls to properly punish them though so it won't matter in the end. The New England Asterisks will get a fine and keep it moving

  17. manosteel9423 Franchise Player Steelers

I tend to fall on the other side of that argument. It doesn't take much to change fortunes in an NFL game. The point of deflating the balls is obvious...better grip on a wet ball for Brady. Imagine Brady can't get that good grip and throws a couple of early picks or misfires on some early passes. What happens then? Maybe the Colts take a big lead into halftime thanks to short fields on turnovers? Its not like Brady didn't do that exact thing the previous week against the Ravens!

Sorry, the fact that the score was a monstrous blowout does nothing to appease me in this case. IF the Pats did this intentionally and with the intent of gaining an advantage, the league should forfeit their win in the AFCCG and send the Colts to AZ.

They won't, because the league has deflated balls too, but that's what they SHOULD do.

  18. except this is not an indication that the league is fixing games. in fact, if anything, it undermines that argument.

I'm sure the NFL will come out and clear this whole thing up soon. There will be some story about a faulty pressure gauge or that the majority of the Colts balls were also under inflated. We will be told that the Colts were playing with the same balls so it was no benefit to the Patriots.

Rest assured that Roger will get to the bottom of this...then he will tell everybody the Patriots were innocent or whatever they did wasn't really a benefit to the Patriots. Anybody who was a witness or interviewed will sign a non disclosure agreement and never be able to talk about what they disclosed to the NFL. Then they will destroy any and all evidence so there is no proof contrary to what they tell the public.

We have seen this song and dance before.
