Grapes started commentating in 1980 on CBC.........and managed to get a HUGE following right away.

He was controversial in his early days and stayed that way throughout......Let us not forget the Quebec Comments.

Russian Hockey Sucks in 1990...........the Super Duper Earring in LA for game 1 of the Stanley Cup and Disco Don.

I will miss Coaches Corner..........but for me Don Cherry's downfall was Social Media........because he was NOT politically correct

Let's not forget his famous chicken swede rant. Hey, Borje Salming was one of the fiercest Ds out there, he has the facial scars to prove it.

In an interview Grapes says he would still have a job if he was willing to walk back his comments. He also said that he's disappointed in Ron Maclean, but still considers him a friend.

It's sureal in a way, I see 85 year olds in wheel chairs at old age homes. It's crazy to see what the impact he still has in the hockey world.
