Look at the revenue his comment made about the 'jerks' … its racking up big coin, lol. Next, the 'bandwagon fans' T-Shirts will come out and more people will benefit. Its brilliant!
but he didn't want that. it's the reverse affect of what he was trying to do. the jerks t shirts and bandwagon fans if they make dime 1 is pure lucky, not his genius motives.
Complete Hockey News@CompleteHkyNews Rogers has not and may not renew the contract of Don Cherry, potentially ending Coach’s Corner after 37-years, per Steve Simmons. If this is the end, I for one am going to miss our eccentric suit wearing, Canada/Ontario loving, out of touch old man. 566 10:21 PM - Jul 6, 2019 219 people are talking about this
Don will step down when he determines the time is right. Frankly, he is iconic, legendary and makes my Saturday night hockey complete and there are a lot who feel the same way. Don't forget, the bottom line is always cash money. Even if more than half of HNIC fans 'hate' Don Cherry, he's still lining the pockets of some pretty fat cats behind the scenes.
Two weeks in a row grapes is pissing people off, can't find last nights segment. Something he said about immigrants not appreciting WW1 and 2 soldiers. Last week it was the Sabourin incident not being a big deal.
I watched it Skinny and he said that "THOSE PEOPLE" don't wear Poppies in Mississauqa and Toronto. Classic Grapes line in the end of segment........"They gave their Lives......the Least you can do is wear a Poppy" I agree with him.
First off, I don't know how much longer CBC will stick with him before public pressure forces their hand. Wearing a poppy was a tradition I grew up with in school, but they weren't available at tim hortons this morning. The tradition is unfortunately fading away and it's really hard to find many under 40 wearing a poppy. The blame should be put on people that were born here and not doing a good job of carrying on the tradition in pushing it on to their kids. Immigrants are an easy target, but I'm willing to bet that most of them aren't even aware of the tradition and its signifigance. The govt Isn't doing a good job of promoting it. If it's explained to them and they fully understand the signifigance and they still refuse, then they could individually have the finger pointed at them. As far as grapes, I respect him as a hockey guy and his knowledge of the game, and even enjoy coaches corner. My advice to him, (that's if he even cares), they just might be checking his leash to see how much rope he has left.
Last week with the Nick Sabourin incident, he was mocking everybody that was concerned for him. Players are bigger and faster than they were in the 60s, collisions are more violent.
Sportsnet, Ron MacLean apologize for Don Cherry's 'discriminatory' remarks Social Sharing Ron MacLean ✔@RonMacLeanHTH · 4h I want to sincerely apologize to our viewers and Canadians. During last night's broadcast, Don made comments that were hurtful and prejudiced and I wish I had handled myself differently. It was a divisive moment and I am truly upset with myself for allowing it. (1/2) Ron MacLean ✔@RonMacLeanHTH I have worked with Don for 30 years, and we both love hockey. But last night, I know we failed you. I see hockey as part of what unites us. I have the honour of travelling across our country to celebrate Canada's game, and our diversity is one of our country's greatest strengths.
He won't apooogize, he's 85 and the end is near regardless. He's on the ball when it comes to hockey even at his age. Not sure how this plays out. Greg Zaun got fired from SN for wearing a tank top in the office.
