He was hard not to notice at the Combine... https://thedraftnetwork.com/article...-derrick-brown-hunter-bryant-nfl-combine-2020
Here is a pretty good write up. Not convinced he'll be drafted as high as his potential is touted to be. If he is past all his issues and has the smarts to play at an elite level. At the end of the day could be a later round steal. https://nflmocks.com/2020/03/09/2020-nfl-draft-willie-gay-scouting-report/2/
Crazy Crex's $0.02 for the upcoming draft. While on paper the FA moves completed by the new FO... again man this is getting Phuquing old... Berry has done a decent job of adding players to the roster. I do like the Conklin signing, but I'm a trenches kind of guy and lord knows the Browns need help there. Unless some team brings a Kings ransom for slot #10, or an elite defensive talent like Simmons, Brown or Young is staring them in the face the obvious selection is an OT, Like 2007! While there really isn't a clear cut #1 OT in this years draft. Without a doubt the selection should be one of the top 4, Willis, Wirfs, Thomas, or Bechton. For me I'm either for Willis or Thomas as my top choices. More later as life is super busy with all sorts of shtuff not related to Covid-19. Stay safe and be vigilant we'll get through this.
The more offseason this virus cuts out won’t fare well for teams with new coaching staffs. The Steelers and Ravens will have big advantages in that department
I’m starting to wonder if we will ever see any sports again. It just might be the end of civilization as we know it
He's a smart man; Joe Thomas thinks the Browns should take Mekhi Becton at 10th overall in the NFL Draft "The combination of Callahan and Stefanski's scheme is such a great fit for him" https://923thefan.radio.com/articles/joe-thomas-thinks-the-browns-should-take-mekhi-becton-at-10
The Browns may have an advantage in the upcoming Virtual Draft. Most teams' drafts are being run by dinosaurs with flip phones. Not the Browns. This from the interwebs:
Technology isn’t going to make it better on draft day. You aren’t going to get any better advantage to know what players to pick. You better know what you want before it starts.
Cleveland Browns to unveil new uniforms Wednesday; 100% of first wave of jersey sales will go to COVID-19 heroes https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2020/04/cleveland-browns-to-unveil-new-uniforms-wednesday-100-of-1st-wave-of-jersey-sales-will-go-to-covid-19-heroes.html
To be fair... of Desmond Harrison, Joe Thomas said he was "one of the most physically impressive" tackles he'd ever seen and would be a "great long-term answer" to replace him. I put Joe in that boat of being too supremely talented to recognize it in others. Gimme a Jon Runyan or some guy like had to eke it out in the NFL and managed to stay around for a decade (Jason Peters, maybe?) and get their insights. Mekhi Becton doesn't seem to fit the quicker, smaller zone-blocking type of player they'd want to bring in, either.
He was just trying to be nice. JT hadn't fully embraced his new role yet. I think Becton is the best OT prospect in this class, and if Thomas is calling him a "perfect fit" for the Browns, that's even better. Thomas also was the first one to notify the Browns that Austin Corbett has "no chance" to be a LT in this league, when the Browns were saying otherwise.
https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2020/4...-mekhi-becton-cleveland-browns-baker-mayfield I see a generational talent. The next Jonathan Ogden type. Lock him in at the Pro-Bowl, and get his acceptance to Canton speech ready. lol!
It would be wild, and if you're right - and we take him - I would be all for it. I wonder at his size and weight if he's a match for the zone blocking scheme Stefanski will run, though. The priority is on smaller, quicker frames and while he move well, it's for a man of his size... not as well as a zone-blocking scheme tackle.
Don’t draft a HOF oline. What did Thomas do for you besides give you a HOF speech to watch. Got Bling
His talent was wasted by an incompetent franchise. It's my sincere hope that those days are behind us. I think the pick is OT at #10... I just have a different name (Andrew Thomas) than @TopDawg.
Can we all agree that Cincinnati should either (1) take a king's ransom for #1 overall from Miami (or another team) and pass on Burrow, or (2) stay at #1 and pick Chase Young? They're not a QB away from contention, going to kill Burrow's career, and would be way better suited stockpiling picks for an extended rebuild.
