Its malpractice. Fields was getting his hamstrings worked during the 2nd half, you have to know he's beaten up. A keeper on 1st down was terrible, to go back to it the very next play was unforgivable. I tend to agree with you. I mean i dont think it'll happen, but strictly speaking i agree.
WOW. I didn't see that in the game, but if Monty stays out of it Mooney runs right through that ball and prob gets some yac too. Is there a question about the play design here? I don't like having two players able to go for the same ball.
So, we'll never know for sure, but it could just as easily be down to route running vs play design. You can see Monty kind of shuffling sideways - that's not exactly in the handbook. That said, it wouldn't be the first Getsy play design I've seen that has had multiple potential pass catchers in the same small area. I think that, generally, he's doing a good job making something out of nothing. Outside of Fields and the RB position, plus some good contributions from Kmet and Jenkins, this offense is... talent deficient. And yet, we've seen a Bears team rack up points over consecutive weeks. The problem is, as was obvious and potentially disastrous in this game, he is leaning hard into the "Super Fields" offense. And that may not be seeing the larger picture, in everything. This can't be a permanent offense, and if you keep running it this way without blinking, it might not have a permanent QB. Getsy is young, and is a first time playcaller. I think we're all being reminded of that weekly.
It was fun to see Fields in person. The stadium was mostly Bears fans. I went to the bathroom at halftime and felt like I was in Soldier Field. I don’t know why we traded for Claypool but aren’t actively getting him more reps. Fields needs to throw to win but the offensive line doesn’t allow them to pass. Paradox. Two times I saw the Bears have 6 blockers trying to block 4 rushers yet there was an unblocked defender coming right at Fields. How? How exactly does that happen? I understand guys getting beat but how do you not even attempt to block them? Amazingly bad pass blocking. Some more bad officiating. Not as bad as it has been but still not good. Getsy sucks balls.
This has boggled my mind too, (not that it doesn't take much) I've seen guys being doubled or worse standing there with their thumbs up their ass without even engaging a block, and yet a defender comes in unblocked. Is it a miscommunication of the scheme? Is it a misunderstanding of the scheme? I get it the talent along the line may not be capable of sustaining that block, but for the love of God at least engage that block. The last 5 weeks the Bears have been averaging 29 points a game, and the Bears have won only one of those games. Bears opponents have averaged 31 points over that span. I remember a couple years ago went it was said on these boards you can't be expected to win in the NFL without scoring 20 points. I guess you could then say you can't be expected to win giving up 30 points. Is he by any chance related to Roy (what I got) Williams?
When asked about it last week, Claypool said that he was having a hard time with the route tree because it was 'much harder than in Pittsburgh'. We saw that he was still limited last game. So, this is bad. One of my concerns about him after the trade was that he made his money in Pittsburgh running the same few routes, in general. Yes, he did more, but where he actually excelled was in just a few use cases. I was hoping he'd do more here. I guess we'll see...
That is the worst the O-Line has pass blocked since they got humiliated by a DOA Texans pass rush. They are so fucking bad i can't even talk about it, thats where im at. And its 100% an indictment of the coaches that we're watching the same guys every week. Are you seriously telling me Dieter Eiselen looks that bad inpractise that you don't dare put him in a game instead of Mustifuck? Is Alex Leatherwood showing you so little that you have to play this guy Schofield, who had no business being out there? If they're gonna start Trevor Semen then im open to all evaluations. Sorry kid, thats the business. If these guys are so bad they cant beat out these bums then why are they on the team. Raid someone's practise squad like the Rams(?) did to us the other week with that Zach Thomas or whatever his name is. The run blocking without Jenkins & Borom out there is about as soft as you will ever see. They let themselves get completely worked by a D-Line from Atlanta. Not SF, NY or Minny. Atlanta. We had bum ass Bears castoffs getting sacks yesterday, thats how bad this line is. Fuck im still talking about them. Tresten Ebner got 6 carries last night, i could've sworn it was 20, sure felt like it. Ebner missed the flight back from Atlanta, he's still in the stadium making a cut at the LOS. Still Fuck Luke Getsy. As it stands right now(to me), this is shaping up to be an utter train wreck of a first draft by Ryan 2.0. So bad that he may have out bed-shat Ryan 1.0 in 2015. As bad as Kevin White & Youranus Grasu were, Pace came out that draft with 2 above average starters. That puts him ahead of Poles. Taking Kyler Gordon over George Pickens in that draft is gonna be one for the ages, wait and see. Fuck it thats all ive got for a rant, im as dedicated as the Bears O-Line tonight. They dont deserve the keystrokes.
I just don't buy that shit personally. How hard is it to run a fade in the endzone. How hard is it to have him in tight run blocking the F out of some DB instead of Pettis or Pringle getting run over. There's ways to get him on the field. How fucking hard is it to call a go route to him! Claypool's first game they called 2 go routes, 1 was a 40yard PI, the other the league admitted they fucked up and it should've been a 50yard PI. Then 2 straight games of nothing. Its so bad from the OC. Im prepared to be patient with Claypool to a degree, i feel he should be on top of quite a lot coming out of the bye. But im not ok with him spending 90% of his time stood on the sideline, getting 10plays a game and catching the occasional 5yard out. That is, once again, his coaches failing him and the team. And the GM technically.
To this point and the point of your post above, regarding the OL and draft: Borom and Jenkins were in pads yesterday. Why weren't they playing? If you're healthy enough to suit up, then you should be playing. And don't tell me that it's all about putting the best bodies in front of Fields when Mustipher is out there. The Gordon pick never made sense to me. Brisker was frustrating, but I reminded myself that he was a talented player who flashed a position of need. Gordon was... overrated then, and is showing it now. An early 2nd round pick, where there were OL ready to go, and WR's available, and you take a nickel CB? And now you trade that early 2nd round pick away. Yeah, there are lots of complaints about Poles, to be sure. This Bears team has less talent than most. I don't expect them to beat anyone, Atlanta or otherwise. But we're all wanting to see that the future is in good hands, and Poles doesn't have anyone convinced yet.
