    #2, impressive against the kings

  5. Hide the Cup boys the Canes have won 3 in a row. LOL.

They are playing well right now. It was strange seeing Skinner on the 4th line last night. But according to reports he needs to tighten his defense. But he is too good a scorer to keep on the 4th line. Tlusty took a shoulder to the head by Johnson last night, I hope he is ok, but Johnson should get 3 games minimum as he left his feet to deliver the blow.

  6. 4 in a row for the Canes. They are looking better and Cam is really looking good.

unexpected production there from rask, it's good if you could hit on those 2nd rounders.

  8. Hurricanes win again, That is 5 in a row with Cam in the net and that is also 11 of 12 points in the last 6 games. This time we beat one of the hottest goalies in Hiller and the Flames. We have the Jets Thursday so hopefully we can make it 13 out of 14 points and 6 in a row with Cam in Net.

  9. After losing 3 straight with little to no offense, the Hurricanes busted out last night and scored 6 goals, the problem was they left their defense in the locker room too. The Canes still won 6-4 but they hung their goalie, Cam Ward, out to dry on 3 of the 4 goals.

But a win is a win and a great way to start the Road Trip. It was also the 1st win in Dallas since 1996. Way to go Canes

Keep it going there Mikey, before you know it you'll be all caught up with my laffs, purgatory is fun.

  11. Oh, if only this team could put the puck in the net. Cam Ward is playing great hockey but he is getting no offensive help. Ron needs to make some trades and get some guys who can put the puck in the net. I know who do you trade? One would love to say Semin, but I don't think he could command a bag of pucks right now, Not with that salary. So believe it or not Khudobin would be the best trade bait. A solid goalie with a manageable cap hit for this year and next year.

  12. As a Canes fan I have to laugh to keep from crying. Cam Ward played a hell of a game tonight and got beat by, A puck coming off a station and going in front of the net when he was going behind the goal to stop the puck, TB was on the PP and the Puck was behind the red line and came out front. And after the Canes tied the score and with 30 seconds remaining in the 1st. Tampa throws the puck in front of the net and Ron Hansey has the puck go off his skate into the net. Both goals and Cam had no chance.

That has been the Hurricanes season in a nutshell. Pucks going off defensemen and into the net. Bad bounces going to the opposing team for basically empty net goals. And No scoring by our so called offense.

  13. brutal way to lose, mikey. i may have uttered an expletive or eight when it happened.

  14. Well the Hurricanes played the Flyers today and put the Sieve, Khudobin, in net. and the results was a 5-1 flyers win. Mr. Rebound came through again for the Hurricanes. LOL

  15. Will the Hurricanes shake the team up after the Christmas Break? I am proposing they trade Jeff Skinner to Edmonton for Taylor Hall. Both players are about the same skill wise, and salary wise. Therefore it could be a solid trade for both teams.

Perhaps because the Oilers thread on the main page is so popular - who tires of their antics and pratfalls? - this subject has more traction over there.

Even up? I could never expect even EDM to accept this trade. But, you start adding pieces, and I think CAR is in the trade discussion. The problem is that every team would want Hall and if it becomes clear that the Oil would peddle him it would up the ante. The Canes could perhaps use a shake up, but it's hard to really know given the massive ice time they've lost to IR. The Oil needs more than a shake up.

CAR has a sharp FO IMO; they're not likely to go overboard on this, and there are probably a couple of teams that are prone to do just that. The NYI, for instance, are giddy that they are no longer a laughing stock and may want to securitize their SC run. Last year BUF benefited greatly from Garth's gaffs, and I think they may have more to offer - and even more importantly, may be willing to "do what it takes" - to get Hall.

  17. What I don't get is how people are saying a H to H trade would be out of line. Here is the stats of the two players.

Both came into the league in 2010-2011 season. Taylor has 102 goals vs Jeff's 105. Taylor has 144 assist vs Jeff's 96. Taylor has played 275 games vs Jeff's 289.

Now one of the arguments has been Jeff's concussions but yet he has missed fewer games than Taylor has over the course of their careers. the other argument was Jeff was a 7th pick verses Taylor being a 1 pick. Well in their Rookie season Jeff won the Calder trophy as Rookie of the Year, beating out Taylor. The biggest difference is size. And Taylor is bigger, but Jeff I believe is quicker.

Bottom line is this Jeff is considered a top notch player and has skills comparable to Taylor's. If the Hurricanes add more to such a deal it shouldn't be much more because if they add more than they would be overpaying.

The argument you're countering is not the one I was making.

EDM has a notoriously high opinion of the value of their players. Hall's value is the most that they can get for him, and every team would want him. Some team is likely to offer something greater than Skinner. I think CAR will get outbid; simple as that.

  19. Dan you could be right? But in reality I don't think Carolina would bid on Hall. If they were to put a package together I'd say it would be as follows:

    Skinner
    Khudobin
    Sekera
    and a 3rd

That would be their max package. But that would be too high a price IMO to pay for Hall. So I don't think it would happen. I was just what iffing in case both GM's wanted to really shake up their teams or not.
