Ben has had games like this every season. But he always managed to bounce back and have games that are why he will be a first ballot HOFer. This season he hasn't played any games that show him as worthy of HOF. When your physical skills start to deteriorate you have to use your mental skills. Unfortunately Ben has never had very good mental skills as a QB.
Well, if he's going to bounce back, this is the game to do it. Ben's primetime game stats at home: Comp % 67.8 yards 5674 TDs 45 INTs 14 Rating 108.4 Never has lost on a Thursday night. Not to mention, the next two are primetime at home. Here's hoping for 9-2 with the O breaking out. (It probably won't)
I watched a little of the game replay on NFL Network. I’m not a professional lip reader but after the TO for the 2 point try, it sure looked like Haley was yelling “STFU, Ben, STFU”
One thing that doesn't make any sense is that Ben and JuJu have the best rating in the NFL between a QB and a WR. JuJu is a rookie and you would think him and Ben wouldn't be on the same page that easily. If Ben can be so good with a rookie he should be able to do it with vets too. With JuJu it's a rating of 147 highest in the whole league. With AB it's like around 70 because Ben has thrown many of his INTs while targeting AB.
Even if Bell doesn’t win the one on one, which for this has been the norm, it would still be third and less than 2 as a worst case outcome...even with the bad offense we’ve seen this season, that’s still better than an INT on the opening drive...the defense rendered it moot, but still get 1st downs and extend drives is the way this team needs Ben to play. For the record, I was ok with the decision to take the shot there, but the throw was bad. Bryant did have a step and if that ball is thrown a little further it’s a huge play. But Ben didn’t make a good enough throw, which is par for the course so far...I also believe that Bryant could have done more to break that up. I mean initiate contact, maybe you get lucky with a PI, or at least it might’ve distracted the defender and he drops it...anyways, bottom line is Ben needs to be better, both execution and decision making has been off. Eventually that D is going to crack and give up more than 20 points in a game, especially with half the starting secondary banged up.
Makes perfect sense: he isn’t forcing the ball to Juju. He is to Bryant and Brown but with his plays to Juju he’s actually taking what’s available. Sure Juju has bailed him out on a couple throws, but Ben isn’t forcing it into triple coverage to Juju.
JuJu will never be triple covered as long as Brown & Bryant are on the field. We have too many weapons to be scoring so low. No one could cover those 3 WRs let alone a TE and Bell.
After reading all of this. What gives anyone hope of beating N.E.? Does anyone on here really believe Bill B. won't see what Ben has been doing and have his team ready to make 3 or 4 interceptions? Unless Bell rushes for 10 yards per carry in a game, it appears to me there is no chance the Steelers beat N.E. with the "current" Ben at QB. JMHO
There’s always a chance. Those near misses could easily become hits, Bell could have a huge game. Not like the Patriots are fielding a great defense this year.
Maybe this is all an act to fool BB. When we play the Patriots all of a sudden Ben will flip a switch and we will get 2014 Ben with his back to back 6 TD games.
lol Gid... You need to package whatever you're on and pass it around. With your optimism passed around this world would be a much better place.
I believe because Mark Sanchez went into NE in 2010 and won. As bad as Ben has as played this year he's still better than that.
I'm also not that bugged about taking a shot on 2nd and 5 but the only reason it appeared Martavis had a step is because the DB never turned and ran full speed. He was facing the QB the whole time and tracking the ball down like a punt. Had it been thrown even 3-4 yards farther he would have still been underneath the ball because he was tracking it the whole way.
