TDL D-Day. The two EC Wildcard placeholders have 8 points and 1 game in hand each over Buffalo. Buffalo would have to jump 4 teams to make it to the 8-seed.

    That’s NOT going to happen.

However, it is realistic - while extremely unlikely - that the Sabres could make it to the 6-seed, i.e., 3rd in the Atlantic. Here, they’d have to jump 6 points and 2 teams. And, they have a game in hand vs. TOR. Obviously FLA’s chances are much better.

Buffalo has won 5 of their last 6. It is encouraging to see how they’ve responded to playing meaningful games. They were actually in the same place a year ago and went into a nosedive.

Our “fourth” line may be the best in hockey. (That’s not a joke.) With 2 out of 3 approaching UFA it’ll be interesting to see how Botterill responds. I actually hope they retain Larsson and Girgensons and consider moving Sheary and/or Vesey.

The “fourth” line is often matched against the opponent’s top line. Is it a fourth line? They scored 14 seconds after the opening FO vs. PIT; unusual for a 4th line to be in the game that early.

Tallon has already said no moves will be made prior to the deadline, and this team has been in a freefall since the break. If the Panthers make the playoffs, they won't be there long. If Buffalo wants in, neither FLA or TOR seem to care much - they shouldn't be hard to pass.

Edit: I hope you're enjoying life over there across the ocean, my friend!

    Thanks dline!

I realize that neither seem to want it. But Florida has to jump one, not two teams. They need 2 points, not 6, and they have a game in hand.

But, I would appreciate it very much if Florida would comply with our desires too.

    Ah, but Portugal is niiiice!

They're sure going to do their best to cooperate, it seems. You may have Portugal and the playoffs, yet! I'm sure it helps having the former either way. Cheers!

The last time s team graciously complied with a Buffalo team, the community showered fabulous gifts on them. (That would be Andy Dalton’s Foundation that received 6-figures from elated Bills fans. Myself included.)

I will happily take Buffalo's money. I will set up an account just for that purpose now. Looking forward to it.

They recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice. The Sabres drafted Mike Ramsey 11th overall the following spring. He was one of a few that went on to have successful careers from that roster, Broten and Morrow were others.

Who could forget having two Ramseys on the roster for the Sabres, spelling different though.

    Craig Ramsay and Mike Ramsey.

Long time, now ex- Sabres scout, Paul Merritt lives in my neighborhood. Really nice guy with an awesome boxer that he walks around everyday. He can never remember my name.

Boxers are my favourite breed of dogs, too bad their life span is only 10 years.

    That’s a cool tale.

And your quip about your name is hilarious. A scout cannot remember a name, and that’s why you’re not a Sabre.

I like watching Dahlin, his ability and confidence with the puck are impressive. He’s still got a ways to go but that’s what makes him so valuable I think.
Makar, Hughes and Fox too. These kids are all so involved in the offensive aspects of the game it’s fun to watch. Really like Dahlin though.

Oh he’s good. And you’re right; he has room for improvement. That’s what I like the most: he’s going to get better. Remember, he is only 19.

One aspect of his game that is not obvious is that he’s super-competitive. He wants to get better, and he wants to win.

Based on comparable players over time, there’s no question that he’s likely to become a perennial Norris candidate.

One other thing. Buffalo has a few d-prospects that tremendously compliment the current Sabres style. As it is now, the D is a cluster of redundant talent. Give them 2 to 3 years and I think the D will be super-elite. The offense ... ???

Botterill gonzo, anyone have thoughts here?

Just read that. Interesting. Apparently the Pegulas and Botterill cant agree on things, 'philosophical differences' were to blame. I suppose its better for the club if the higherups cant see eye-to-eye to make a change.

Question for you... who is Adams and does he have what it takes?
