i wonder w/ any rookie how they'll do when they inevitably hit the wall. he's never had a marathon season like this, no 18 year old has. it will only be magnified if he's playing huge minutes. something to look for is all.
Probably. The Sabres have had a lot of really great players. But in truth, this is an example of where I have come to expect you to do my fact checking. It is simply more fun to make statements in the breezy declarative fashion - to hell with reality! Otherwise, Jack could actually be better than Gilbert. Sacre bleu! Mais, c'est ne pas blasph?me!
Absofuckinlutely correct! It's another reason to not expect too much from the Sabres this year. I do expect Jack's landlord will help mitigate the impact of the long season, but until a player has gone through it, the grueling season is more of a conceptual concern. Like most players, I expect Jack will fight through it, but there could well be a plateauing stats-wise for a few months in 2016.
i have a question for you Dan and this is just your opinion?.who are the best Sabres defenseman of all time? you've have great goalies, some may even argue the greatest. you've had great Fs too. who have been the best D in the organization?
Good one, Matty! I will answer off the top of my head, and this is one where facts don't matter since it is just my opinion. The first name that came to mind is Jim Schoenfeld. For the second D in this pair I am going with Phil Housley. Other names that came to mind: Mike Ramsey, Lindy Ruff, Jerry Korab, Jay McKee, and my personal favorite, Brian Campbell.
Looks a lot better on your end there, 4-1, euchel scores and leafs have not nuch to fight back with, almost full lineup.
What hit are you referring to here? Was is a clip of last year (~ 11/06/14)? That was a malicious check into the boards by Cole and it would have shaken up any player. In the ensuing dust-up, what impressed me the most was Ennis reentering the fray and his beautiful 2 point takedown of Cole. It's a rough game and every player gets knocked around, but 5' 9" (generous with the inch tape) Tyler is a very tough guy. He should also enjoy this season a lot more than previous ones. BTW, Ennis came to BUF with the first they got when Brian Campbell was traded to SJ.
This is preseason so I'm not getting too excited, but after the last 36 months, I am enjoying this. An interesting stat (if it really qualifies as a stat - it is probably more accurately expressed as an anomaly) is that the Sabres have scored something like 5 SHG. That's the way to put the buzzkill on the other team's PP.
Sorry, it was last night's game against the LEAFS. I typed Blues for some reason. I was bouncing around games. I saw him laboring after a hit. I didn't pay attention to when it was in the game. If nothing came out this morning, it was probably nothing.
Yeah, I figured it was a [del]Blues[/del] Leafs typo. But I jump on any chance to extol our tough guy, and decry those bastard Blues.
I cannot find any mention of this hit on any Sabres site. It was probably just another day at the office for Tyler. Five shorties in five games. One thing is certain, the Sabres are much more opportunistic than before, and they're a lot faster too. Make a mistake in their DZ and this team can punish you.
Phaneuf lit up one of the Sabres kids, any chance this is the hit you're talking about bob? keep your head up kid. Im worried that every new generation will get lazier about this and it seems as though the player hit is always the "victim" regardless of whether it was clean or not.
amen to this. It's because u fell, u fat pig! Have another donut! Have another donut! oh ya, and the blues suck. that is all.
"Phaneuf lit up one of the Sabres kids, any chance this is the hit you're talking about bob? keep your head up kid." This hit was talked about on the Sabres' sites. And, yes, keep your head up Brendan or it'll get knocked off in this league! Dion appeared to leave the ice to deliver this hit, but it was not aimed at Brendan's head. The fact that he's a C and Brendan is an 18 y.o. makes me think the league will think nothing of the hit. BTW, Brendan was the #51 pick, (from NYI in Vanek trade), and he has been very impressive. I now expect that he could make the NHL this year - hopefully for only nine games, however.
i agree that the hit could be looked at by the league, but it shouldn't be. i hate that hits like this are being exterminated. keep your head up w/ the puck.
That wasn't the hit I was thinking of. Doesn't matter, no injury. I hate the hit, but I thought it was well within the rules. I'm usually the last one to say "keep your head up" but on this one I thought "keep your head up". If the head was up, I would say "connect your eyes to your brain"
