Set yourself up for a slam dunk shot there, Buddy. Far be it from me to jump at the chance, but . . .

Denzel Ward (hamstring) remained sidelined at Friday's practice.
Greedy Williams (hamstring) was also a spectator. Neither are likely to play Sunday in Baltimore. Ward's absence would obviously be a positive for rookie deep threat Marquise Brown.

Get off your candy asses and get back to playing football . Starting to think Ward is a china doll

I definitely was not a Rudolph guy, but I think he's done well given the circumstances. Anytime you have to go to the back-up, there's an adjustment period.

TBH... the backup handled themselves quite well in the Rams game. I expect a similar gameplan from Wilks keeping them from getting to the edge with Lamar and keeping all the passes in front of the safeties. Our corners actually allowed a high completion percentage against Goff and his top targets (19 catches on 24 targets, 79.2%) but they kept them from breaking a long one which I expect the Ravens to try and do with Brown. Despite the nickel/dime looks, Gurley and Brown were non-factors last Sunday.

Real talk: Steve Wilks is the first quarter MVP for this team.

Wilks has been a great addition. Our defense looks very legit. Can't wait to see when he gets his starting CB's back on the field.

Just finished re-watching the Browns/Ravens game on my DVR. I picked up on something and I wondered if any of you guys came away with the same impression.

It appeared to me that Mayfield was under center (as opposed to in the shotgun) significantly more in this game as he was in the prior three games. Maybe our resident "Stat Monger" (looking at you, @SAS ) can confirm this.

IF he was, then perhaps that (a) confused the Ravens' defense somewhat and (b) opened up the running game a bit for Chubb?

Playing under center helps a lot with play action pass. If it worked well against the Ravens then it will probably be something that we will do with Rudolph.

So, looks like - per Sharp Stats - Browns were in shotgun 61% of the time. They ran 26% of the time from shotgun and therefore, passed 74% of the time from shotgun.

This would seem to agree with what you saw, @Lyman. For weeks 1-3, the Browns were in shotgun 77% of the time, 30% run to 70% pass. Week 4 was very similar to Week 2 from a percentages standpoint. I'm thinking this probably had more to do with the way they wanted to attack the defense and protect Mayfield.

To be fair, *everything* we did offensively worked well against the Ravens.

Wild how we play well on offense and win a game and no one has brought up the offensive line all week...

Browns pass defense allowing 215.0 YPG through the air the last three games and are tied for 7th in the NFL for fewest passing yards allowed.

The O-line showed improvement that’s for sure. If they continue to play that well Monday Night against a tougher front seven, I’ll give the credit where it’s due. Admittedly though Baltimore’s front seven pale in comparison to the Rams. This week will be a much tougher challenge with the 49ers front seven.
