For getting knocked on his ass twice on the same play. I'm sure Pouncey gets suspended but if I were in charge he wouldn't.
If Pouncey did what he did on a normal Sunday he gets no games. Greg Robinson kicked a guy in the face in Week 1 (and made more contact) and got a $10,000 fine. Because it happened in prime time Pouncey will get suspended but anything more than a game is BS. How does Mason get suspended? For pulling a helmet? That's ridiculous. DeCastro was a peacekeeper according to Garrett. Not sure how he gets fined. Randall should get a game. Ball was clearly not caught. One of the worst hits of the year. Ogunjobi will only get fined but someone should strip him of his man card. According to him he was defending his teammate from being hit and kicked. Oh really? By knocking down the QB? And then backing up when a linemen comes to his defense? What a chump. Just admit you took the shot and don't try to BS the whole world. ------------------------------------------------- Browns outplayed the Steelers. They deserved the win. If there's a bright spot in all of this, I'm just relieved Garrett whacked him with the hollow, padded bottom of the helmet. Had the helmet been inverted and he was struck with the outside, hard shell - some serious damage to his skull could have been the result. As it was, Rudolph popped right up looking for a (righteous) flag from the ref. Minimal damage (if any) to Rudolph. Then it's a good thing you're not in charge.
I'll not hold my breath until the NFL incorporates the "enforcer" position on the roster. Two wrongs don't make a right. Stomping on a player's head while he's on the ground is egregious regardless of the events leading up to that.
SAS I never said he did nothing wrong. I said he did nothing suspension worthy. The league does not suspend players for grabbing helmets.
Fair warning . . . Given today's climate in the NFL, don't be surprised if the Browns release Myles Garrett. If they are truly attempting to reshape the culture, and Garrett's own teammates and coaches (without the benefit of a prepared "company line") describe what he did as unacceptable, then cutting ties with Myles is not out of the question.
There's a *ton* of pearl clutching being done today in the aftermath of that incident. Let me be clear: Garrett's actions were inexcusable. My opinion, such that it matters, is that if we're handing out suspensions like candy at Halloween, we can't look at just the swing in isolation. Something was said/done in that game well before the 0:08 mark. That's above and beyond the hand to the throat/face, trying to rip of Garrett's helmet (intent), and the at least two kicks and one punch to the groin by Rudolph before Garrett tomahawk chops him with his own lid. I'm fine with Garrett getting the season ban -- that's an uncalled for action by *any* NFL player. But it would be ludicrous to think Garrett's the only one in the wrong and worthy of suspending based on everyone's actions.
There’s already a set precedent for suspending players for both swinging a helmet at another player and ripping another player’s helmet off during a melee. I’d be surprised if Garrett plays another down this season.
Agreed completely. Antonio Smith is the closest comparison. He ripped Richie Incognito's helmet off, swung, and made contact with his head. He got three games. Since this was a primetime (and only) game and the only game for the next two days, it'll get a bunch of air time and a bunch of play and the perceived "damage to the shield" will certainly weigh heavily into the length of the suspension.
