I would like to encourage everyone to go back and watch the post-game press conference from Myles Garrett immediately after the event. I hadn't watched it since last week and having watched it again it really just cements everything reasonable people are saying about the notion he would keep a racial slur to himself. Nothing in his post-game press conference points to that and at one point a reporter asks him directly if Mason said anything to escalate the situation. Watch his face when asked that question. He would have to have the best poker face ever to avoid answering that direct question.

This was a guy who snapped, knew he snapped and took full responsibility for it. Towards the end of the interview he says, "Even DeCastro on the other team, he was trying to keep everyone off me, he understood the gravity of the situation and he didn't want anymore blows to be thrown and uh... he knew it was just two guys getting chippy and you know he and I made a mistake, but I appreciate him coming up to me and Larry coming up to me and having my back in the whole situation."

Please watch the video. I just don't believe anyone in here could watch this video and come away thinking this guy would hide someone calling him a racial slur through the whole thing. Heck his body language alone is a dead give away. This was clearly a guy that realized he had just totally screwed himself. There was zero animosity towards anyone. That's not possible if 15 minutes ago someone called you the N word.

Yet you did on your last post when you "absolutely agreed" with gidion's inane assertation that "every black person freaks out physically and mentally" when in such a situation...

Sorry beach, but your take on this entire thing has been very poor....

"The Browns are out of control"......"The Browns are head-hunting!"......lol! I guess you must have missed James Harrison's entire career. Get over it. Myles Garrett lost control. That's it. Shit happens. Quit trying to lump the entire team into that lapse in judgement by one individual.

Lenient.....how? What did he do....that can be proved....that warrants further punishment?

What you should have said was nothing. Because the words retreating and restrained are totally different. It’s not nitpicking or semantics....they are literally two different things.

This discussion has went from absurd to just arguing to argue now.

    Agreed. Let's end it here.

Rudolph is a blameless victim, and Garrett is Evil Incarnate.

    Never said.

Smearing another person as a racist to try and shave some games off your suspension? Probably pretty close.

@SAS were you ever going to respond to this?

Yeh, come on Sammy !!! You're interrupting a perfectly good dog pile here. All of our Steeler breatherin what to continue talking about the last 8 seconds of that game.

Nevermind that when the clock hit 0:08 of the 4th quarter, the score board said Browns 21 Steelers 7. It's their way of coping.

No one has called Rudolph blameless.

    Hyperbole much?

I’m assuming you are referring to my post but you forgot to quote me. I mentioned what I would do... true it’s not what happened but what would you have done? Just trying to make sense of things. I based it off me and what I’ve seen others do. Just trying to provide some possible options. If you don’t appreciate that fine.

Our accounts differ in that you added some suppositions and I left it by only what we truly know. Then you failed to answer the questions I posed at the end.

Lyman... I value you but Steelers fans not the only one talking about this. Your fellow fans are continuing as well. I just need to give my opinion too if they keep posting. I alluded your post to talk about Miami.

As long as you're now the spelling constable, it should have said "brethren want".

This news broke yesterday. Since then . . . Crickets

Rudolph, who grabbed the back of Garrett’s helmet while the two of them were on the ground at the end of the play, has been fined $50,000, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.

Garrett claimed Rudolph called him a racial slur, while the NFL said it found no evidence of that. So the league’s discipline is based on what could be seen on the video, and not on anything Rudolph may have said.

Some observers thought Rudolph should have been suspended along with Garrett, who has been banned for at least the rest of this season. Instead, Rudolph will get one of the biggest fines of any player in the league this season.

Rudolph may appeal the fine, and he’d have a good case for getting the amount reduced. Players who do not have any prior offenses usually get fines reduced as excessive if the amount of the fine exceeds 25 percent of the player’s weekly salary. Rudolph’s weekly salary is $38,722, so this fine is more than 100 percent of his weekly salary.
