Browns / Steelers

  1. Yeah? And who benefits by getting that out there? Sure as fuck ain’t the league. I’m seriously done with this team. This is total trash from Dorsey, Kitchens and everyone else blindly backing Myles and destroying a young mans rep doing it. If something comes out that definitely shows that kid said some shit the I will take all of this back. Until that happens fuck Garrett and fuck the Browns.

I was finally looking forward to watching them get things right and then they pull this shit. This entire organization is attaching itself to a baseless smear! It’s just the wrong thing to do.

Sorry you feel that way, pal.

  3. It’s not easy being a Browns backer to begin with but this is just too damn far. My brother has been begging me to dump this team for years. I never thought I would but watching people call someone a nazi because he wears another jersey is too much. I refuse to be a part of anything like that. If you grew up in the YO you know what that ugly is. You know what people have that and you know that you don’t put that evil on someone just to do it. That shit is bigger than any sport or being a fan of anything. I can’t support any team or anyone that does something like this.

If it comes out Rudolph did say something like that I'm sure that the Steelers would consider cutting him. But no way does someone have something said to them that upsets them that much and nobody around them knows it happened

Why would Garrett not want it public?

    What do we actually know?
Garrett tore off, then hit Rudolph with a helmet.
Rudolph tried to rip Garrett's helmet off, kicked him in the nuts.
Upon ripping off Rudolph's helmet, Garrett retreated and was being contained by one of Pittsburgh's linemen.
Rudolph then got up and charged at Garrett.

Whether something racial was said we don't know, and doesn't forgive Myles for the helmet hit.

We can all speculate about whether Rudolph said something racial or not but we can't "know". I'm a Browns fan, have been for more years than I'm willing to admit. As such I am ashamed of what Myles did, and cannot argue his suspension.

Garrett's actions cannot be tolerated because it places the NFL in a position of vulnerability should it happen again, and someone gets badly hurt. If Rudolph said something racial, as bad as that is, it doesn't place the NFL at risk of a law suit. There is no upside for the NFL in having such a claim substantiated, so if they can keep it speculation, they avoid a second black eye from the same situation.

Why it got out at all is curious.

Still looking for the part of the video that shows Garrett “retreating”.....

    What we know...

    Garrett took Rudolph down late.
Rudolph pulled on the back of Garrett’s helmet trying to rip it off.
Garrett stood up and started ripping off Rudolph’s helmet from the face mask.
Rudolph pushes and kicked at Garrett.
    Garrett ripped off Rudolph’s helmet.
Garrett was removed from Rudolph by DeCastro.
Rudolph got up and went at Garrett.
Garrett swung and struck Rudolph with the helmet.

What would I have done if it was just a helmet issue which is all anyone argued until the appeal:
I would have wailed on Rudolph while I was still on top of him.

What would I have done if Rudolph said a racial slur:
I would have wailed on Rudolph while I was still on top of him.

Garrett got up and ripped of his helmet... we assume it was because of the tugging of the helmet. We all agreed that was the case prior to anything else being said. DeCastro got in between the two.

I have questions... had you been called a racial slur (I have been... just look at my account name) would you have said something during the fight? Garrett was saying something to Rudolph as he was being separated by DeCastro... after the helmet issue there were words exchanged... wouldn’t there be something that indicated a racial slur was said? I’m not saying he would eloquently state his complaint or say he called me a .... but there would be some type of conjecture. If it made him go off and rip his helmet and strike him with it... would he have the for with all as he was held down by DeCastro and being punched and kicked by Pouncey, to stay quiet and think “I’d rather wait until the appeal process so this exchange is not made public.”

My unsolicited opinion is that he made it up or that he is a man that can lose all control and then gain control beyond any human.

Don't know that I would personally use the word "retreating", but the video clearly shows Garrett being restrained by DeCastro and somewhat separated from Rudolph.

You want to pick nits about "retreating" vs "restrained"? It's a free country.

retreating and restrained are two very different words with completely different meanings.

If you think that’s nitpicking I’m speechless.

I SHOULD have said, "You want to pick nits about the words "retreating" vs "restrained"? "

    Then I was successful.

  12. The more I think on this the more pissed off I’ve got. This is worse than all the losing and Manziel kind of mistakes combined. How can anyone be good with this?

Lym I'm not a subscriber to the narrative Myles got "triggered" only after he and Mason were on the ground. His act of running to the QB instead of playing an obvious screen tells me he wanted to hit Rudolph (he's been playing football a long time, he knows when he's being screened). Then he held on and took him to the ground long after the ball was out.

Heck the whole Browns team was triggered all night. The head-hunting was ridiculous. It was very clear they wanted to come out and be very physical against their #1 rival and they didn't care if it crossed the line. Added to that Myles had been held several times on the way to the QB and was probably pretty frustrated.

Myles was out of control, Mason contributed to that. He didn't trigger Myles, he was already there. IMO obviously.

My bad, DeCastro was restraining Garret. I mis wrote that, in part because I thought Garrett's body language at that point appeared to me to indicate he was done, but much like your post, that is conjecture on my part.

It's a Brown and Orange point of view, vs a Yellow and Black one. both slanted by our perspectives.

Essentially your account and mine differ only in wording. From that point on we are treated to "how you would have acted". How informative!

The fact is, is wasn't you it was Myles Garrett, and oddly enough he didn't do any of the things you would have done, including making a statement about being called some kind of racial slur.

People simply are different, and Myles is decidedly different from most NFL players, in that he is very quiet, known for it, likes poetry and dinosaurs. He relates better to kids than adults. I little wierd compared to our normal view of NFL players.

I agree, it seems strange that he wouldn't speak up about the racial slur, to anyone, as far as we know up to the NFL appeal, but again, you and I aren't Myles Garrett.

I believe the NFL was correct to act quickly by handing down the harsh suspension. They had to condemn it forcefully. Whether it's the inflamatory nature of the possible racial slur, or simply wanting this episode closed, they were lenient IMO regarding Rudolph's role.

Who said we were good with it? If you're looking at me . . . I suggest you go back and read my post immediately after the game ended.

Absolutely agree. There is just no chance Myles isn't telling anyone that was there what happened. I don't care how quiet and measured he is off the field. In that environment, in that state of anger he would have told everyone in his corner Mason racially slurred him.

And then he apologizes to Mason the next day? Yeah right. I don't know a CBS football guy that plays the race cars as quickly as Mike Freeman and here's what he said...

  17. Were you talking about the helmet swing or calling someone racist? I’m talking about ruining a man for life just to get good with the league.

I wouldn't group every black person into the same group because obviously that would be silly but the percentage of black people that would react the way many in here are trying to ascribe to Myles has to be < 1%.

Think about what you're trying to say. On one hand you're arguing that Garrett went bat shit crazy because he was called a slur word but then on the other hand you're trying to argue Myles nature is to be very quiet and this is something he might keep this to himself.

But he wasn't himself... You've just told us he was in bat shit crazy mode and it didn't end when he tried to crush Mason's skull. It can't be both.

    Why are Rudolph's actions important?

The NFL reduced Pouncey's suspension by a game. Why? Might the circumstances of "why" have played a role? Was the fact that his QB had been hit over the head with his own helmet, have impacted the decision?

In other words, didn't the surrounding circumstances become part of the decision making? That is why what Rudolph said or did matter.

Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope... No SAS spin allowed on this one. He didn't say check the tapes, implying that there might be some audio out there to answer the question.

***And it doesn't go unnoticed by me that you didn't quote that portion of your sentence.***

On two different occasions reporters asked him for details on what caused him to lose it. The questions were nearly back-to-back. His replies:

    1) "They just gotta go look at it. I ain't gonna comment on it."

    2) "You gotta watch it."

He said watch..... watch the video. Stop with the spin.
