It's only two quarters of play....but has any offensive player distanced himself enough for OROY yet? Denzel is on his way to the DROY, is there any possibility that Baker could give us the sweep?

    I know, I know....

But, I'm feelin' pretty this mornin'

I might just be annoying over the next 10+ days...be forewarned

Indeed...Sad though, that it took an injury to Taylor to make it happen.

I think it's pathetic that our head coach, who is desperate for wins, couldn't see which QB would give him the best chance to win a football game...I'm thrilled we got the W, but Hue should not be let off the hook for his incompetence.

  5. TopDawg Legend

Hell yes. That's gonna happen...That's also going to be 3 Buckeyes in a row as DROY!

    All this love for Mayfield.....blah,blah,blah.........

It's this guy that was the reason for breaking the winless streak.

This guy put everything through the uprights last night. Three cheers for our new kicker Mr. Whatshisname!!!!!!!!!

Depends on how you look at it. I see it as he knows how invaluable it would be for Baker to learn about game days without the pressure of starting. To get 3 pre-games in before his day comes, might be the catalyst to having one of the best rookie year's ever compared to someone like Peyton Manning's rookie season being thrown in the fire game 1.

This could be just as much John Dorsey, the Chiefs did the same with Mahomes, even though Tyrod was never confused with Alex Smith.

I also think it is classy that he didn't announce the starter on the post game show. Giving himself the opportunity to sit down with both players and tell them privately is the way a professional does things......NOW....... If he does the absolute opposite of what is expected, then FIRE HIS ASS.

Like I said, EVERYONE on the team plays better with Baker at the helm

Posted this on the Yinzer's board this morning:

"While its unfortunate that it took a trip to the wacky tent by Taylor for Mayfield to be inserted, it couldn't have worked out better for the Browns. Hue Jackson's logic for starting Taylor against the Steelers and Saints was sound and, for the most part, people bought in. For 20 years, the most popular person in Cleveland was the Browns' backup QB. And, for most of those 20 years, QB controversies divided not only the fan base but the team itself.

The way this went down provided a direct apples to apples comparison of the two. Same opponent, same surrounding cast, same weather conditions, much different results. IN MY OPINION, I think Jackson would have inserted Mayfield at halftime even if Taylor hadn't been knocked out of the game in the 2nd qtr. By doing so, he avoided yet another QB controversy in Cleveland and, at the same time, ended up with a new starting QB."

But far be it from me to interupt a Fire Hue crusade.

He gets that next week when he lays 40 on the Raiders.

Winning is what matters most. The coach makes the call. It's the head coach's ass on the line if the team doesn't win. Hue was being stubborn about it from the get go. He talked about Tyrod like he was legendary. There was no QB competition in Browns camp...Hue was playing Tyrod because he thought that would give him the best shot at winning. It's as simple as that...

Had this conversation with a buddy already and I'm with you, @IrishDawg42. I don't know who trades for him, but I would feel better with Stanton behind Baker. We've seen that Tyrod just doesn't get it done on offense. Haley doesn't call the game the same way with him in there.

The problem is that $16 million price tag.

We'd be 0-2-1 had the Jets not forced a QB change in Cleveland....

Of course, lets keep in mind, Hue hasn't committed to that QB change yet...He needs to look at the tape.o_O

Who doesn't he talk like that about on his team? He is the ultimate team cheerleader, he's all positive, all the time. I do think there is a time for criticism, but that's behind closed doors. You don't want any of your players getting pissed about a presser because your coach "tells it like it is" publicly.

Bottom line; If our head coach (the QB whisperer) had been able to see the blatantly obvious, that Baker Mayfield was the best QB on the roster, the Cleveland Browns would be the only 3-0 team in the NFL right now.

  17. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

I'm not sure this is true...

The play calls may be the same, but the player's running those plays are VASTLY different. Baker may just be much better at making Haley look good. The difference is, Baker trusts his arm to get the ball in the small spaces, most of those throws were probably available to Tyrod, but he hesitates and pulls back, where Baker rifles it through the needle.

We paid flat out $16M for a 2nd round pick with Houston...

Why would we care about $7.875M lost for trading Tyrod. I think it would take a 3rd rounder to do it, but I could see a team being desperate enough...someone like Buffal....wait, let's rewind... Someone like.... Never mind, I can't find a single team that would think Tyrod would help them win more games in 2018... I digress

Maybe. Maybe not. We could have been 2-0 going into last night and it would have been Mayfield entering the seemingly never ending concussion protocall instead of Taylor.

Or....Baker Mayfield doesn't learn how to do game day properly and lays an egg against the Steelers, putting you at 0-1 instead of 0-0-1, and everyone criticizes him for starting a rookie with a veteran on the bench.

I think everything happens for a reason. We don't know what didn't happen, but what did happen is we are 1-1-1 and Baker looked like he is ready for to be the starting QB of a professional football team.

I'm just happy we are in the moment we are right now!
