Let me put it to you this way . . . If you were the GM of an NFL team, would you give up a valuable 5th round pick for a player - ANY PLAYER - who is one missed or failed drug test away from a lifetime ban? Be honest, please.

Not really. Even if the Browns win . . . if Tyrod continues to miss opportunities as he has so far, that would become apparent even to a shitty coach like Hue Jackson.
It would obviously depend on the situation my team is in, but if I've got a SB caliber team with the window wide open, with a 40 something year old superstar QB, and a huge glaring need for a legit #1 WR, hell yes I'd deal away a 5th rounder. It's a no brainer for the Patriots, in that situation. Opportunities like that just don't come along...
Jimmy Garoppolo produced stats below those of Colin Kaepernick in his six games in 2017. Through two starts this year, he's at: 33 of 59 (55.9%) for 467 yards (223.5 YPG), with 3 TD and 3 INT (77.4 QB rating) In other words, meh. With regards to Cleveland, Belichick said he wanted Jimmy G. in the best situation. That is more of a slap to the 1-32-1 head coach and the 20-77-1 owner than a lawyer and contracts guy who died for our sins.
NFL teams over-value draft picks to a fault - especially at the top and then at the mid-round spots. It's astonishing that a player like Khalil Mack (All Pro, Top 5, at the second most important position in the sport) was traded for a first round pick and a swap of first-for-second round picks. It's insane to me that teams trust their projections of a potential prospect over the proven ability of a young, NFL star. The NFL Draft is two rounds (1-2) with a few rounds of roster-fodder/filler (3-4) and everything after that is a crap shoot. I'll try to dig it up, but I'm pretty sure there were more undrafted players on active rosters than first- and second-round picks.
I agree with the essence of what you said. However, in this case - the player traded for is a missed or failed test away from a life time ban. He doesn't even have to fail a test. If he oversleeps and misses one, he's gone . . . Forever.
It's obviously worth the risk to New England. If Josh fails, they are only out a 5th rounder, plus I think we even have to kick them back a late rd pick.. If he stays on the straight and narrow, they have a supremely talented true #1 WR for dirt cheap. JG is by far the most talented WR they've had since they brought in the often troubled Randy Moss, and re-wrote the NFL record books a few years ago.. I'm expecting similar results for them...
Some of the players have come out and said they love them and wish they were allowed to use them more often.
I think the all brown uni's look as good as the all whites....Whatever happened to the idea of Brown jersey/white pants? I always thought that was clearly their best look, but they rarely seem to wanna wear their brown jerseys at home for some reason. I thought it was silly in week 1 to let Pittsburgh waltz into our house all comfy in their home uniforms...but whatever. Like SAS said, just WIN!
I know they are already working on a new uni design, and I hope they consider getting rid of the orange numbers on the jersey....Like Lym mentioned, it's a high schoolish look....
