I think we’re going to start to see hockey “experts” begin to speculate about the hockey team from Boston going into rehab stage* earlier than expected. (* They remain too good to warrant talk of a rebuild.) Krug’s a Blue. If Chara is allowed to walk away (25% yes: 75% no, IMO) and Rask is moved (5:95) then there may be credibility to such ruminations. Sweeney has never been easy to peg down. On a separate note, we have ZERO information about if they’ll operate with an internal cap. I believe that matter has been greatly over-speculated about. I believe most owners will buckle under competitive pressure and spend to keep up with other teams. The Matt Grzelcyk extension (4 Yrs. $14.75MM) is a good one. By the end of the contract it may look very team-friendly. Oh, and a feisty middle finger to the Jacobs. (They’re soooo easy to dislike.)

Krug departure hurts but I think the internal options will be enough. The powerplay effectiveness will obviously be the key. I hope Chara comes back more for his presence than anything else, I dont even care about ice time for him. Time to see what the kids (Vaakanainen, Clifton, Zboril, and Lauzon) on the backend have to offer. Is Kevan Miller ready to go? He is a pretty damn good warrior for the 3rd pair, assuming health. Probably shouldnt assume health in his case though. I agree with your estimations on Chara and Tuukka Dan. I love the Grzelcyk extension, term and dollar. Feisty middle finger to the Jacobs, to say the least.
one thing that has me worried is that Bergeron looked slower after the restart. fingers crossed that it was a muscle pull or injury of some sort but father time catches up to everyone at some point. Broonz go as Bergy goes.
Pastrnak had hip surgery in mid September. Recovery is typically 5 months for this procedure so he should be looking at mid February if my finger counting is right. Marchand had hernia surgery in mid Sept also, recovery typically 4 months. McAvoy had his knee scoped and is already cleared for off season stuff.
seems like they couldve done better. the 80s Broonz jerseys are my all time favorites, i think this is true for many Broonz fans as well and theyre blowing an opportunity to get back to those. these are reversed colors of those but it still miss the mark.
Not crazy at all about those sweaters. You cant fix perfection... Boston and Detroit own that as far as sweaters , in my opinion. I need new sweaters... gotta find a nice online place and get a couple. (right after I rob a bank)
Aliexpress is a site where you can get real cheap jerseys but you gotta really check out what youre buying before you pay. Delivery is also usually a month-2 months out as well. That said, Ive purchased a couple of beautiful handstitched jerseys on the cheap. Theyre 100% knockoffs fom China though.
Gryz (l-26) - McAvoy (r-23) Lauzon (l-23) - Carlo (r-24) Zboril (l-23) - Clifton (r-25) Vaakanainen (l-21) - Miller (r-33) - Moore (l-30) young group for a team in win now mode.
That’s why Sweeney’s decision is such a head scratcher. They profess “win now” - they (probably) believe themselves. But have they put the D in a position to win? There are a lot a very good pieces there. They’re not a bunch of green rookies. But they are very young. But, is there the requisite leadership to drive the team to overcome the adversities that’ll come in a push for the Cup? (That is, after all what “win now” is about.) Chara signing for $795,000 strikes me as an act of repudiation. It’s like he felt disrespected by the organization that he had served so admirably for a long time. He had said he wanted to finish his career in Boston. But they couldn’t sign him to a veteran minimum contract?! There’s something wrong there.
It's been out there this off-season that Chara was waiting on the Bruins and then his agent publicly stated as much a couple weeks ago and made it known that there was interest from outside teams. I really think Sweeney believes the team is better going with other D. Puts pressure on the kids on the left side thats for sure. Washington may have just signed the best value contract in the league.
Brad Marchand is expected to be on the ice when the Boston Bruins open training camp on Sunday and could return from offseason surgery by the time the Bruins begin the 2020-21 NHL season on Jan. 14. The forward had a sports hernia repaired on Sept. 14 with a recovery timeline of approximately four months; that would put him on schedule to be in the lineup by mid-January. "[Marchand] is doing really well," general manager Don Sweeney said Thursday. "He's been on the ice pretty much every day. He will start to integrate into the main group of players from Day One of training camp. "It's more of a volume and comfort level for him. He's done a lot of work on and off the ice and finding his hands and his timing … and his overall conditioning. We'll be careful with it, but he's made a nice progression."
