hoping Mcquaid is dealt this summer. he's redundant and not in the top 6 if everyone is healthy. $2.75 cap hit at $2 in real money for nest year and then UFA. he could help a team not under cap constraints, tough for the Bruins to healthy scratch $2.75.
throw some of that money at Riley Nash. I dont expect him to take a hometown discount and i dont blame him. hit FA after a career year and has never cashed a big paycheck, making $900k this year. such a smart team first player, would love to keep him if possible.
wonder what McAvoy is looking at and I wonder if the Bruins try to wrap him up this summer. the kid has definitely lost a step since he got sick. so much more dynamic beforehand but I expect that to come back, hopefully these playoffs because he drives the train back there.
tough year for Cassidy to go up against Vegas/Gallant. most seasons Cassidy wins the Jack Adams just not this one.

Off season right around the corner, thought Id throw my 2 cents in the ring for what the good guys should do. Per usual, the Bruins need more help on D, specifically a LH top 4 minute muncher. I'll just focus on that. Almost everyone needs this guy so the acquisition fee is usually not realistic. Chub up Broonz fans, this summer might be a little different, Carolina is in a bad spot organizationally and they happen to have an excess of LHD that can play........... a couple of them anyway. Per Bob McKenzie “There’s one guy on the team that they’re not prepared to trade – Sebastian Aho, everybody else – everybody else – is available". Not taking his word as absolute truth but there is absolutely truth in there, to a degree anyway.
So back to Carolina's blueline lefties- lets start with the local product Noah Hanifin. Obviously a smart kid from his choice of college but probably the most expensive piece. His numbers have improved yearly and he's still only 21. What will help potential suitors is that he's due a huge raise after next season and the Hurricane's instability should help to make him available. Assuming his asking price will dictate just how available Waddell makes him but it would be worth a stab.
Jaccob Slavin- 24 year old hasnt missed a game in his 3 seasons as a pro. Plays a lot of minutes and is excellent on the PK. 7 year contract kicks in next season at $5.3 per. Lengthy deal but this locks the kid up for the meat of his career.

Matty, the images are not appearing for me. Are they worth looking at?

(My guess is that you think so since otherwise you probably would not have posted them in the first place. Still, I thought I'd check.)

Bruins switching their D coverage up a bit it seems. Went from a smaller box +1 to a large pressure box +1. F tight to the point and the D deep down low not letting their Fs loose by the crease. Keeps the middle of the slot open though so a tough bounce or blocked shot could be deadly. I like the D down low blocking that backdoor pass but our Fs playing their D tight makes me nervous.

    Good breakdown, Matty.

I was happy to see Pasternak and Bergeron light it up.

Interesting observation during the game was the difficulty Bob had on longer shots. He seemed to lose the puck a bit or just not read the slappers from the blue very well, just looked like he was struggling because of Boston doing a lot of going to the net also. In close he looked ok, but the cross-ice passes that were tape to tape with a shot coming from the circle area or the blue-line, he was juggling. Maybe that's Bobrovsky's weak point, I don't know if he has one, but the Bruins may be on to something there.

Really was good to see that Bergy line getting it done. Although, the pessimist in me has to point out the Marchand penalties and Pastrnak continuing to find ways to turn the puck over. But the goals for were certainly nice.

You might be on to something here with goalie Bob Will. Need to find ways to beat him. Sort of on topic ........ it’s unbelievable to me the criticism Tuukka receives and just how little credit he gets. This is more true locally than nationally but still true nonetheless.

Connor Clifton for 3 more at $1/per. No brainer.

Max Lagace to a 1 year 2 way essentially becoming the #3 goalie on the depth chart. Doesn’t look good for Zane Gothberg/McIntyre.

Brett Richie reported $1x1. I like it. This kid is a big F that can shoot, reason why he was drafted so high. Obviously he hasn’t translated to the NHL game, reason why he’s playing in a year deal for peanuts. 4th line likely but Krejci always needs a burly guy on his side. Probably asking too much.

Chris Kelly hired as player development coordinator. Not sure on Langenbrunner’s status, he had that title. Love Chris Kelly and having him back in the fold.

Powerful Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs hands team to his six kids

Some consider him the Jerry Jones of the NHL, wielding great power among owners. His biggest critics compared him to Mr. Burns. But you can no longer call Jeremy Jacobs the owner of the Boston Bruins.

Jacobs recently handed the keys to the Bruins franchise — along with his other business interests — to his six children, as he told The Boston Globe’s Kevin Paul DuPont on Friday.

“I have given it to my kids,” Jacobs said. “They are paying me some of the proceeds that come out of this. It happened this year. This was done on the basis that the longevity is going to continue in the hands of the Jacobs children, and the next generation will have it.”

Jacobs, 79, had been the owner of the Bruins since 1975; DuPont notes that Jacobs purchased the team for about $10 million.

In that time, he was occasionally a lightning rod for criticism, with those including the New York Post’s Larry Brooks mentioning Jacobs as one of the main proponents for lockouts. Brooks wrote this about Jacobs in 2017 after learning that Jacobs had been elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame:

Jacobs is the man who has been the voice behind the voice of Gary Bettman for each of the three owners’ lockouts. Clawing back oodles of money for the owners is his claim to fame. This is also the man whose penurious ways forced Raymond Bourque to flee Boston in search of a Stanley Cup, never mind the irony of No. 77 himself having parroted management’s stance for years when his Bruins teammates sought higher pay.

    Down goes Mr. Burns!
Smithers and his siblings taking over. This is glorious news for all hockey fans. JJ had more than a small hand in the previous lockouts.

He bought the team in 1975 for $10M, in 2018 it had an estimated value of $925M. Smallest violin player for the owners when they cry about phony losses.
