  2. it's too bad "the inevitable result of playing five on nine" wouldn't fit well in the wheel.

  10. matty, u guys get no respect from the media outside of boston.

last night, one of the guys on SN referred to marchand as a "hard-nosed competitor."

fortunately, i'm pretty sure that everyone listening knew he meant large-nosed.

    thanks Will.

that Larkin is something else. him ringing the crossbar like that reminded me of a young Seguin there.

  15. matty, i'd like to critique what gets played on the TD Garden PA.

your organist is hands down the best in the league. why? the other day, i was only half paying attention, but i thought i heard him playing Bite It by Screamin Jay Hawkins. if u don't know the song, go to the ditch sounds thread and scroll back a bit. edit: should be considered NSFW at school.

if u DO know the song, you'll understand why i thought NFW, i must have just heard something similar. but then the wings came to boston, and sure enough, that IS what he was playing.

however, your superb organist is balanced by the PA guy, who is tied for worst in the league for playing an extended cut of Party Rock Anthem.

i have it under good authority that it's actually a recording, or at least it was in the early 2000s.

i don't know the song. thank you for that, much appreciated.

i was thinking of you the other day lulz and hoping that you were watching the Brooonz feed of the Wings/Bs game last weekend. After Bergeron scored Jack said, "hashtag leadership".

  17. WHEW! happily, i managed to miss that linguistic gem.

I watched most of the Bruins game last night against the Wild... Bruins looked good.

Funny how when the season started i thought they were going to be horrible. Well, i'v changed my mind. They are flying high right now and look great offensively and on the PP.

I'm not really happy about this and I hope the Wings can do something about it. :)

Despite my official reference for the hockey team from Boston, I have become more than merely intrigued with them. I think they could become a contender - not this season - if a few prospects click. This year I think the EC is very competitive; not in the WC way where there a lot of really good teams, but the EC has less separation from 1 to 16 and is bunched once you get past the first 2.

I expect the season to end similar to the current standings, with the one team most likely to tumble being the NJD. BOS may be the best candidate to make a bit of a run, but I cannot envision them making much noise in the playoffs.

I am almost convinced that THE rivalry will be the envy of the league in about 3 seasons, and that it could be intense for another 10 or more years from there.

the Bruins are still an enigma to me, so many questions still. They can be and should be much better.
whats up w/ Tuukka? going in to this season I thought he was the most consistent player in the organization, Bergy included. i've also thought that his style of play would lend itself the most at being able to bail out a porous D-core. While the D-core has proven itself to be more than porous, Tuukka hasn't helped out at all.
all that said, he can only improve at this point and Im assuming that 6 NHL D-men will figure out not to continually leave the seam in the middle of the Dzone open time and again.

Cload's job is still very much in jeopardy, not claiming it should be but I think that it is.

The PK needs to improve and all but inevitably will. They're #30 in the league at 72%.
Same/opposite can also be said about the Bruin's PP, #1 ranked but 34% isn't sustainable.

Krejci and Eriksson have been really good but they're both an injury waiting to happen. Kevan Miller somehow became terrible at hockey, not that he was ever anything to write home about but he was a reliable 3rd pair/PK player. He's so bad now, doesn't even look like he belongs in the league and Cload keeps riding him out w/ some big minutes.

Seidenberg, still very much a question mark. He can only help at this point.
I would love Cload to go w/ something like this 5v5-

    Chara (L)- C. Miller (R)
    Krug (L)- McQuaid (R)
    Sedienberg (L)- Trotman (R)

A big question is whether or not Eriksson could still be dealt. I would love him resigned for something near a 4 year deal at nothing north of $6 per. Problem is that he's having a healthy and very productive year so the price keeps climbing. He's such a smart player, the over-used cliche, "could help any team" actually fits w/ Loui Eriksson. He would fetch a ton at the deadline.

great article from Fluto on Loui here-
