I'm still hoping to identify a pattern Sweeney made at the draft. A very interesting day in Broonz history.
LOL, i am SO glad to see u ask that. i thought it was just me. there seems to be a quirk in the code tag.
thinking the purple has a injury ready to happen. the green is "why the eff did we draft this lead weight that can't skate, shoot or pass?"
that can't be true, i heard Cameron Hughes can pass. have you seen Debrusk play rediis? obviously it was a surprise that he went ahead of Barzal, Debrusk being the 1st WHL F.
nice, thats a pretty big deal. the backup role is tenuous at best and competition should only help. last year Tuukka played in 70 games. much rather see him somewhere near 60. he was right at 58 when he won the Vezina and the B's the Presidents trophy.
I'm with you about lowering Rask's workload, but I think it's very important to find a backup that can stay on the ice (groins, shoulders, groins, concussions, etc.)...unless Subban is ready for spot NHL duty. I don't like the Gustavsson idea. Boston is still flexible in terms of the cap, and plenty of teams need to lose a goalie including WC teams that would probably dig a marginal return to free up a contract slot and some cap dollars. If the system is ready to give them some games, I think gambling on a Backstrom would make more sense. If not, go for Ortio and give Burke some vet help or trade futures for Ramo for example. There are lots of goalies still floating around and a few will hit waivers.
Gustavsson is just on a PTO. if he outplays Smith he'll probably get a league minimum 1 year deal. i can't see how there's anything to lose. Cut him if he sucks. At least we know what he's bringing to the table where as w/ Smith he's an unknown. Michael Hutchison would've been nice right about now. Not another PCgem move getting rid of that guy. Not talked about much but probably should be. id be shocked if Subban and McIntyre aren't both in Providence this season. id be pissed. they both need it, Subban definitely does. not out of the realm of possibility that McIntyre makes the NHL just unlikely. probably better off if he gets games in Prov anyway. they could still go another route here and just cut Gustavsson straight out. seems like Dealin Donny wants his cap space. He needs it for Bigg Buff or Kari Lehtonen.
Maybe. They have 4 slots left, I don't like one being spent on a player like Gustavsson. There are going to be decent players that hit waivers the next 2 months, the slots will hold value to trade, and the guy can't even stay healthy. I just don't see him being able to fill the bill as a successful backup but there are a number of factors I'm unclear on. I'm not digging the Sweeney machine.
excellent, matty. make it so. every time i see the dynasty league thread, i've been thinking "why doesn't cutter run a biznasty league?" i figure the scoring can be pretty simple. u get no points for goals or assists. u get points for fights, misconducts, and any unsportsmanlike conduct penalties (not just dives). and, in the unlikely event a player in the league gets an instigator penalty, the league ends on the spot with that player's owner declared the winner.
Cutter is jealous of Bonvie. He went to Chicago after his truculence dumped him from the Leafs. I have no idea if he did anything bad or good. On another note: http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/...ton+Bruins+-+Bruins+&+NHL+-+BostonHerald.com) I am jealous that there are larger media sources actually going through AHL players. We have a few blogs for that in the upper midwest. Detroit has stuff once in a while, it's very rare for Chicago or MSP and non existent in STL even though some of the writers in MSP and STL are very knowledgeable about who is in the respective systems. Most Hawks writers are still trying to heal from the previous 2 decades, but there are some younger ones with promise.
Ive met Bonvie, he's a good friend of Hymo's. I think they played together in Bingo. They can have a Bingo reunion w/ Chris Kelly, unfortunately PC won't be invited anymore. fun stuff on the younger Iafrate. Hilarious when he says that "he thinks" his father was a pretty good offensive defenseman in his day w/ a pretty hard shot. tough to walk the line and not sound like a pretentious prick I guess. what's going on here ^. lots of good articles last Spring after the Broonz signed PC capt. Noel Acciari. he's a dime a dozen player and I'll be shocked if he ever sticks in the NHL. don't tell Blennie that.
