ouch, i just heard about this on viasat's curious rebroadcast of yesterday's nhl tonight during intermission. what happened?
nice step up from Krejci on Steen but it looks like when he made contact that his weight was on that right leg. this is bad. at least it forces Cload to play Spooner. Fuck!!!!! BU just won the Beanpot. Eichel's hair is ridiculous.
trying to look for silver linings, and there aren't many. but??????? if the Broonz were to acquire a player before the end of the regular season they could use Krejci's cap space on that hypothetical player(s) because Krejci is now on LTIR. When the playoffs roll around there is no cap so Krejci could come back in addition to the newly acquired players. also hoping Spooner plays well before the deadline and gets moved. Normally you might think that you hope that he plays well and stays up, but knowing Cload's tendencies I find it hard to believe that Spooner stays on the NHL roster once Krejci is back regardless of production in the near future. I suppose if he plays really well he could make some other forward more expendable, which would be nice.
I'm enjoying the Boston circus. Too bad the Hawks couldn't throw more gas on the fire, would have been more fun. The only opinion I have that I feel very strongly about with the Bruins is that they're better off if Seabass shuts his yap in public. In Awsum Broonz newz: https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/n...ecies-named-honour-boston-142312762--nhl.html I don't think I've ever even thought of calling an entomolgist a d-bag before. That changed today.
he was originally going to name it Thaumatodryinus CoreyCrawfordski but this wasp is able to catch things. i'm w/ ya here.
Just for curiousity I was looking up that 2nd round pick the leafs traded that was included in the kessel deal, Jared Knight. What happened to this guy, he was a PPG player with london, this year 3 pts in 36 games with providence.
when they picked him I remember PC saying something like Knight projected to be an excellent 3rd line guy. Not a big ceiling but sure to be a responsible energy guy. He's been injury prone and I think that he's just not that good. Not sure he'll even be an AHL in a couple of years. Completely wasted pick, Chiarelli's biggest glaring weakness is his drafting.
^this sux...chiapet didn't give up enuff draft picks this year...he will go for storklike objects that look closer in the mirror
I'm trying figure out what Chiarelli was doing? Isn't Connolly like a developing Ryder at 4x the cost in trade. Sure it's for the future, but if they miss the postseason that whole thing is going to go ablaze in the media. Of course I'm kind of rooting for that now, not an anti boston thing, I enjoy a trainwreck. It's along the same line of thought as I have with the Hawks. If they lose in the first round, people will have the pitchforks out and that's fun for me too.
the media will continue to crucify any and all comers to Boston. this isn't the first time that Claude and PC's heads have been called for. It's fun when you just step back and take it all in. you should hear Sully wailing away on talk radio??not happy, of course doesn't have any actual suggestions that are feasible but Sully is not happy. Every year blennie is disappointed that there was no huge splash here. blennie was furious last year that the Bruins didn't give up whatever it took to land McDonald from the Islanders and I can guarantee that blennie knew nothing about McDonald at the same time. I'm sure next year will be the same thing. as for Connolly, Talbot, deadline Broonz?..looks like PC is playing it for what it is. this just doesn't seem to be the year for one reason or another, don't mortgage future year's assets to possibly fill in the many holes. I can't find a substantiated article about Colorado retaining half of Talbot's money. If so, that's a sneaky good deal. The bottom 6 Fs here are vastly overpaid based on their production. I still think this team can be dangerous in 7 game series but things need to turn around, starting on the back end specifically.
I have the 98.5 on right now. Any particular shows I should listen to? I'm torn on Talbot. Cunningham wasn't good, but losing him for nothing blows. With needs at the blueline and so many RFA's coming up, I'm not sure taking on another contract for 2016 was that great of an idea unless it helps now. It's great that the Bruins have all these forwards that can play multiple positions, but who gives a shit if you have a rigid coach that doesn't know how to use that flexibility to produce?
They just started a Bruin's segment. Kicks off with roasting PC's personality and then they express gratitude that he didn't do any more damage to the franchises future than what he did. *ROFL*
you don't think this guy looks like a hoot?!?!? a no-nonsense Harvard guy not being fun to be around?now Ive heard it all.
Thinking about PC quite a bit, thought I would post some thoughts on him. I think overall he's very good even though he's an epic failure of epic failures in some circles of the boston media. PC isn't a good drafting gm, more specifically, he probably picks the wrong guys to listen to. Could be related to development too, but I think it's the former. In terms of picking core types to build around and franchise direction, he's been way above average. So many pick a bad model to follow and people get hung up with individual transactions instead of the big picture. PC can see the big picture as good as any of them out there and that's why the franchise has done so well for a while now more than any other factor. I think too many forget all the dozens of gms in a decade that walk into a rebuild and completely butcher the execution of their vision or just have a bad one to begin with. I think his contracts have been pretty solid and they fall in line with gms that had to write multiple extensions for players on a team that won stuff. Despite a few stinkers, he's hit on most of his big ones. More importantly he knew when not to write some big ones. Some notable trades besides the big ones (Seguin, Kessel) Soderberg for Hannu Toivenen Wideman for Boyes McQuaid for a 5th (that pick turned out to be Jamie Benn) Ference/Kobasew-w. Primeua/Brad Stuart and a 4th (Brodie) Bochenski for Versteeg Boychuk for Hendricks Stuart/Wheeler for Peverly and something else Kelly for 2nd Aaron Ward for Eaves and a pick(Cunningham) Lashoff/Karsums for Recchi and a 2nd(Petrovic) Paille-mid round picks Bitz/Weller/2nd(Petrovic) for Bartkowski and Seidenberg Derek morris for junk Sobotka for Warsofsky Corvo-4th Khodobin-Penner/Lehtonen's rights Colborne, 1st, for Kaberle Jagr for way too much Seems like a pretty even trading record factoring the big and recent ones that aren't listed. Some steals, some overpayments to win, and some busts. I don't think it's all that unique, and it should be noted that many of them yielded good results even if the trades weren't very good, like Kaberle. He and Stan Bowman should do comedy skits together. Bowman is about as exciting as a 2 by 4 and PC seeks guidance from the voices when he get a mic in front of him.
the 2 guys on the afternoon show are real tough- Zolak is the Pat's play by play ultra meathead and former Bledsoe backup QB, and then Bertrand is just sort of a miserable prick. tough combo. its unreal what we have in Boston- Scott Zolak for the Pats- possibly the worst of the bunch Tommy Heinsohn is the most biased announcer I've ever come across. i don't follow the Celtics at all but i hear his highlights and they are simply amazing. Jack Edwards for the Broonz Remy for the Sox. you should listen to Felger and Mazz starting at 2 bob, they usually roast the Broonz and get Sully all fired up. there was no hockey talk around here before Felger so I appreciate that he's brought it back to the main stream but he knows so little about it that its dangerous. for instance, he couldn't recall which country Tuukka played for in the Olympics. how the hell can a "hockey guy" covering the local Vezina winner not even know where he's from? just a tiny example but there are tons of them w/ Felger. yes and yes. i think that ends the Paille and Campbell eras. thats fair.
yes, heinsohn was (still is?) horrible. i really dislike george blaha, the pistons' PbP guy, but tommy made him look like a saint. probably even worse than jack, if that's possible.
impressive work putting that together bob. i underlined what I think are clear wins. McQuaid for the 5th is a steal, obviously not as big of a steal as Dallas using that 5th on Benn though. This is one of those examples of the pick being seperate from what is done w/ the pick. Phil Kessel wasnt traded for Segui, Knight & Hamilton, rather he was traded for a #2, #32, and #9 picks. The opportunity those picks give you is different from what is done w/ them in my opinion. im getting off track though. Another PC Gem! (cough cough) was the acquisition of Horton and Campbell from Florida for Wideman, a 1st and a 3rd. I really liked Horton's game, he towed the line (is it toed the line?) between power forward and goon very well. I read a piece somewhere saying that PC is part owner of the Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL) and was keeping an eye on Johnny Gaudreau before the 2011 draft. He also asked the coach Jim Montgomery to let him know which NHL teams were asking about Gaudreau. Evidently Feaster was coy enough to not show his hand. Chiarelli blew that one. One thing that needs to be taken in to account w/ PC is that a large portion of the current Bruin's core was put in place by Mike O'Connell. O'Connell seems like a real jackass but he left the organization in a pretty good spot moving forward, its just that the rewards weren't reaped until years later.
