how can North of Canada think that anything Orr-related is malicious? you're not missing out on much lulz, just a Sturm face.

  2. lol, my firewall is not from north of canada, comrade ;)

A South of Canada 'Merican firewall huh? they just don't get Bobby Orr evidently.

Speaking of which, the Bobby Orr book, actually written by Bobby Orr, is fantastic. I highly recommend it to all of you guys.

Tuukka is 2-9-2 in his career vs Montreal.
Chris Kelly on the 4th line w/ Campbell and Thornton. Paille on the wing of the 3rd line w/ the one eyed Swede in the middle and soft head on the right. Briere's talent being utilized as he's flanked by Moen and Parros. I just jinxed myself, that line is now scoring for the Habs tonight.

great piece on the Bruins 2006 draft.

They acquired Tuukka through a trade. Were able to draft Kessel at #5 because Columbus won their final regular season game propelling the Bruins up 1 spot in the draft order. Columbus wound up getting Brassard at #6. Bruins then missed on Yuri Alexandrov at #37, which was a compensatory pick because they had previously drafted Lars Jonsson #7th overall in 2000 and never signed him. They then took St BF at #50 and Marchand at #71. Thats one hell of a draft. Chiarelli was hired but not allowed to operate for the Bruins until after the draft. Ive heard that was just for show and total BS though.

    That is a great piece.
You can imagine my disappointment when I read "skill" instead of one of about 20 other words.

Good read, lots of stuff in there. I had read about Lombardi's decision to take Joey Ryan over Lucic (how many times has Lombardi guessed wrong in a draft compared to everybody else? He's good at drafting), I didn't know they were pushing to take Lucic at 37.

I was really into that draft for similar and obvious reasons. I was scared they were going to draft Kessel, Dale and the lapdogs liked him aaalllllooottt. The Hawks[del]used[/del]wasted their 2nd pick (33) on another Russian player. Nothing against Russians, I don't despise them as much as many, but Chicago had failed to successfully develop or scout any of their previous 3 dozen eastern European/Russian picks outside of Kravchuk (who was traded because he, like Frank Kucera, didn't speak English good enough for Sutter in my opinion) but I digress. I forget which players I wanted to see because all of them ended up sucking too, but I still hated the pick. He did take his shot at North America but he wasn't going to see NHL action anytime soon.

Many other things I had never heard before. That's pretty cool that Rask was targeted in 05'. It seems to usually be the case when a gm goes after somebody young, never really thought about Rask being picked just a spot before in 2005.

Another thing I found interesting was the reference to Matt Lashoff. I don't know if I remembered him being the player that brought in Recchi.

On the note of Lashoff (matt) he was a first round pick. His brother, 3 or 4 years younger has pretty much matched his brother's NHL career. Similar games, both dmen (don't know if they came up playing the same side), yet one is a first rounder and the other doesn't even get a late flyer. Did his brother kill Brian's stock, he was eligible for multiple drafts? Doesn't mean much and I've never looked for a similar situation in recent years. Know of any other brothers where one was a first rounder and the undrafted brother went on to the better NHL career?

Does Joanie hear voices when he plays the Habs or something? How many wins does he have against them?

funny ceremonial puck drop. the size difference is always funny but the guy dropping the puck is something like the grandson of the previous owner- something something Adams. Strange jersey there Ive never seen but even better he's wearing his suit jacket under the jersey.

Oilers coming to town for a Saturday matinee. this sorta ties last night and Saturday together.
