This isn't going to end well. Nagy is just so out of his depth. Fields isn't Superman. He can't save a sinking ship.
Thank you for the lovely and entertaining thread gentlemen. I was forced to spend the afternoon hiking and then sitting in a river drinking my face off. But I'm really glad we won.
I wasn't able to watch the game live but I resisted the urge to check the internet all day and just caught up on game pass. Positives: - Pass rush was consistent and got home. Mack made an appearance. - EJax didn't suck horribly. - D forced turnovers. - Fields throw to A-Rob that was dropped at the goal line. - Tough runs by Monty. - Sunny weather Negatives - Dumb penalties on both sides of the ball. - Too many plays run short of the sticks. - The game seemed too fast for Fields. His windup throw looks slow. - Drops by Mooney and A-Rob. - The long TD that EJax gave up.
This team yaps so goddamn much it makes it hard for me to like them, but a win is a win and I enjoyed this one so much drama. Fields looked shaky, and Nagy seemed....unprepared to have Fields shoulder the entire game load. The good though, the defense came back alive which was fantastic. Monty has really come into his own. The secondary is still a big concern except JJ, man, what a game for him it really sucks that we had to lose Fuller because Jackson with Fuller and this secondary is on lockdown. I was nigh ready to change my avatar after the fumble ruled down by contact and my man Eddie "Business Decision" Jackson jumps OVER the Bengal diving for the ball, but he redeemed himself after the strip, but goddamn it man, pay fucking attention, the play isn't over until the echo of the whistle. Just such a "Bears 2005/2018" type of game. Offense that doesn't score, defense that DOES score, defense that gives Offense a short field that they convert to punts, somehow.
This is an age/NFL problem not just the Bears. I too cringe when I see players constantly running their mouths no matter what the game situation. But I realize it will never change. Kids will be kids as they say. Add in social media and it becomes harder and harder to be fans of individual players. It was so much easier when you wouldn’t even recognize a player without his helmet on. This team does lack discipline. And that isn’t going to change until another coaching staff is brought in.
