That ^^^^ cost you 9 wins this week. If you're going to end up on a weekend bender (as your posts suggest) then start earlier on Thursday.

 

That's why I reposted the rules ...

 

You may want to think about this (missed picks rule) for next year. If I'm not mistaken, this rule was put in place because life sometimes "gets in the way" of making picks. Life can "get in the way" just as easily on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday mornings.

Remember: Mentally Flexible.

 

I completely get it Lyman. In my experience if people are going to forget making their picks it's usually after they have picked their TNF game or they miss the entire week. In order to keep this contest flexible and fair I decided years ago that the most fair way of adding the away game rule is if you miss making all of your picks. I don't want to give unfair advantage to anyone who isn't competitive and doesn't really care. The people who are in here every week battling for the top positions are the ones who I created the rule for

You're a good friend to Tim Lyman but I can't change the rules even for my Boss. He wouldn't want me to anyway.

 

It's your contest, Babyfan. You can make the rules anything you want.

In this case, you have a regular participant who is now (for all intent and purposes) out of the running for a spot in the YTD standings because life got in the way after he made his TNF pick. The way I see it, the only other option is to calculate YTD based on percent of correct picks made.

 

A weekend bender would have been preferable to what my weekend actually was, but it is what it is.

Speaking of all these road team wins, I did a little research this morning.

During a "normal" season, the home team wins around 55% of all the regular season games.

This year, so far ??

46%. That's it.

The only difference I can see is there are no butts in the seats. I guess that the home crowd has a bigger impact on the outcome of a game than I ever gave them credit for.

Might be time for me to rethink my strategy.

Nicely said Tim........I have always enjoyed this Pick-Em and Baby does an excellent job as Commis.......and she is a Canuck.

I looked at my picks again for tonight. I'll keep them both.

SO.........you will take Minnesota Vikings in week # 5 ......the 12th man will not be at the game.

 

The 12th man ain't in the stands !! Gonna make that game tougher to pick. Got the same problem in New Orleans.
