    1. He wasn’t playing slow. Maybe you need to cut down on the booze when your watching the games.

    2. On the first TD it was the TE knocking into him then running in the opposite direction that took him out of the play. Not biting on the play fake. Travathan did not look like he was picking up the TE and he said after the game it wasn’t his guy.

    3. The 2nd TD was a good play call. Travathan got turned around. Beat by one of the best receiving RB’s in the league. Sometimes you need to give some credit to the other guys.

    4. I am a big Travathan fan. One of the first to mention pursuing him as a FA. He has been worth it when he is not injured. As for worse games or halves I am sure you can look at the tape of many lopsided games the Bears have played in since he has come here and find lesser performances. The second half against GB this year is one. Not a shitty performance but worse than the first half of the cardinals game.

1- I was obvs talking about mentally not physically.
    2- No.

Said TE ran into him cos Trev had absolutely no awareness of him.... because from the instant the ball was snapped Trevathon's eyes were in the backfield. Hit bit on that play fake hook line and sinker. It was Bostic levels of diagnosis and LB play.

The TE was near Trev btw cos Lynch redirected him off the LOS before moving out to cover the receiver moving to the flat. If Trev wasn't on the TE who was? There was no one else there. But thats really a side point tbh, cos he bit on the play fake. As a LB you bite on a play fake thats a pass play and that guy in your area catches the TD pass, your gonna have to own it im afraid. Don't make excuses.

It was actually nothing special as a play design, it was pretty simple. Trevathon was just beat far too easily. Beat by one of the best receiving backs in the league you say? Then maybe Trev should've respected more the fact he could go deep! He was nowhere in pass coverage, thats the bottom line. And its not like Johnson ran some incredible route, he just came out the backfield and took it straight up the field.

    Stop with the excuse making.

All true im sure. And irrelevant.

You seem to be confusing calling out bad play when its there for actively not liking the guy. Im a fan of his too, don't be precious about it.

Translation: I can't find any examples of when Trevathon has played worse, meaning that prob was his worst half of football as a Bears, but i don't like how that sounds so im gonna argue the point.

Well, of Rodgers 3 TD's in that 4th Q, one was a dime over Fuller. One was Prince playing crap and getting juked by Adams. And the other was Jackson going all in on breaking up the pass and failing.

So you can make that claim about Trev if you want(which actually backs up blangs wider general point heh), but none of those TD's were his fault, at all.

So if he was responsible for zero TD's against GB and 2 TD's against Arizona....it makes your claim more than a little tenuous...

    Blah Blah Blah.....

Travathan himself said the TE was not his guy after the game. Go on and call him a liar if you want.

But your spinning away from the actual argument. Blang called out Travathan and his poor pass defense in the thread. I disagreed and the play on the field Sunday determined who was right. Unless you want to try and argue that Travanthans pass defense was an advantage to the Bucs you really have no argument here.

    Excuse the outfit.

Your argument with me was that it wasn't "arguably" Trevathon's worst half of football as a Bear. And you've been crushed on that. I said show me worse, all you could do was pull a comment out your ass about the GB game. That also got shot down in flames. Facts.

And ive now expanded on that by highlighting 2 bad TD's he gave up...... IN PASS DEFENSE! Guess blang had a point huh. Not our problem if you couldn't grasp it.

Why do i have to keep explaining this to people this year. Its called "Things To Watch". This is not a #calledit thread. Its not about saying this, this & this will definitely happen. It explores potentially crucial matchups, based on what players have done in previous weeks. The Bucs have 2 good TE's, Trev had been really bad at times in pass coverage. Blang was right to highlight it. That the Bears came out on top doesn't change the validity of the statement based on the previous 3 weeks.

I don't think you understand this, so let me try another example that you might not be so sensitive about since he's not "your guy".

Many of us(me included) were very concerned about Toliver going into this game because every previous time he'd been on the field as a Bear he'd been nothing but vomit. Turns out he held up ok, and thats good. But that in no way proves that we were wrong to discuss it leading up to the game. We were absolutely right to discuss it.

And you still haven't proven me wrong on Trevathon's 1st half in Arizona.

Well... I think we can all agree on one thing.

You’re both spelling his name wrong.

You know what your right it might have been “arguably” his worst quarter of football. Another game that I think was worse was last seasons Tampa game when he got called for 2 holding penalties that extended drives that led to points in the first half. He also missed the tackle on the TD run that put Tampa up 17-0. But it’s no slam dunk. So you get the win on “arguably”

You got no argument from me on the TD to Johnson. I’m still not buying the TD to the TE. It’s your word against Trevathan’s. I’ll side with him.

What’s interesting is that outside of that TD to Johnson you’d be hard pressed to find many plays that Trevathan had poor coverage. And I went back a ways looking. Kind of proves my point that over all Trevathan isn’t as bad in pass coverage as he was made out to be.

Says the guy that kept saying “called it” in the game thread when Nagy opened the play book.

You do realize that most of the time in these things to watch the person will give an advantage to one team or the other. In this case Blang gave the advantage to the Bucs TE’s vs the Bears LB’s. It is perfectly reasonable to disagree with who has the advantage like I did. I even gave stats to back up my claim. As it turned out the Bears held the advantage against the Bucs TE’s. Me asking for an apology was joking around. Sorry you took such offense.

And it does change the validity. Outside of the one play. Which I still don’t put on Trevathan. The Bears LB’s have played very well against the pass. They rank 8th and 10th against TE’s in average receptions and yards per game. 2nd and 3rd vs running backs.

    Who, Trevathon?

  8. EvertonBears M.V.P. Bears

He bit on a play fake. When LB's do that its not usually a good thing. When it becomes ok for LB's to decide if its a run or pass and then only play that one thing regardless of if they were right or wrong......then you will be right about this.

Game threads are eligible for called its, didn't you know? They're also eligible for other behavior that would maybe considered bad form normally, like hate filled rants against your own player or team, kneejerk overreactions like saying you'll never watch another game again, excessive profanity and jokes about the French. Wait, you can joke about the French anywhere actually.

But you can join in too. Just break down a certain type of play that would've made a big gain that the Bears could've ran but didn't the previous week. Then give a plausible reason why they didn't based on the use of the play the week before that. Then call them going back to that play this week and having big success. Then see them run it on the 3rd play of the game. Easy.

It's a game we play in the fall and winter here, kind of like Russian Roulette, and the winner gets a super cool hat.
