This may seem like an odd question but would you go with Matt Stafford or Ryan Tannehill?

Stafford seams like a no brainer but he has had two bad weeks in a row. 8 points and 12 points. Tannehill has been averaging 28 points the past 4 weeks.

Two reasons I would stick with Stafford...
#1: There's the old adage "don't bench your stars", which I assume Stafford qualifies for.
#2: Stafford is playing the Giants (bad defense in general), and he's at home. Tannehill is on the road, outdoors, in Buffalo.

    I'd roll Stafford.

I have a question for fantasy knowledgeable folks about who to start in my flex spot...

WR Andre Caldwell vs. HOU- Wes Welker has been ruled out. Houston's D has been average at best. Peyton is going after a TD record. And Caldwell had 17 points in the first week Welker was missing.

    OR

RB Shane Vereen vs. BAL- Brady's most reliable RB, especially in the pass game. Baltimore has a decent defense, which worries me. But Vereen had 9, 12, & 21 points up until last weeks sweet 1 point against Miami.

    OR

WR Vincent Jackson vs. STL- Good defense. Always a risk with Jackson. He's capable of 20 Fpts, but if his offense gets off to a bad start they are the kind of team that may never really get going.

    Any thoughts??

I would probably go with Vereen. He just seems to be the safest choice.

VJax is safer. Brady couldn't target Vereen last game because the Dolphins had him marked every play.

In a touchdown league (with bonus points for going over 100 yards rushing or receiving), I have DeMarco Murray, Demaryius Thomas, Dez Bryant and Keenan Allen as no-brainer starters.

For my last spot, though, I have a choice: either Torrey Smith (vs. New England) or Andre Brown (at Detroit).

That's a tough one. I think Detroit get's a big lead early which will negate Brown, but Talib will be all over Smith. I would probably go Torrey Smith. Do you get points for drawing any PI penalties :D

I wish -- or at least if I got credit for the PI yardage it'd be a no-brainer.

I agree with RTTRUTH. The upside of Stafford out weighs Tannehill's recent history. If Stafford were on the road at a place like Seattle there could be a stronger argument but in this case I think you have to stick with who got you there.

Houston is tough against WRs so who knows what Caldwell is going to get. He will have to score to be worth while because the yardage is limited against Houston. Baltimore is one of the best against receiving running backs so Vereen may struggle. The Rams are middle of the pack against the receivers so V-Jax has the best match-up and he is the best player out of the three.

Normally in a touchdown based league I will always side with the running back receiving the bulk of the work load over a wide receiver, but in this case I think Torrey Smith is the right guy. In three career games vs NE (including 2 playoff games) he has 278 yards and 3 touchdowns. No guarantees he will continue his success but for this week I think he has the higher ceiling of the two. The Giants have the feel of a team playing just to end their season where the Ravens are playing for their playoff hopes. The safer play is probably Brown because of the possible GL touches but Smith has more potential.

Considering the Giants this year, I'd stay Torrey Smith. The Giants have a way of just letting everyone down this season. In a TD league the RB does appear to gain value, but if it were me, I would hesitantly roll Smith.

I figured I would bring this thread back from last season for general advise

My starting TE is Jordan Cameron. He is injured and has a bye next week. Should I stick with Coby Fleener or try to pick up Travis Kelce? I tried to pick up Larry Donnell but someone ahead of me got him.

Try for Kelce. Fleener doesn't seem like a reliable fantasy player anyways. Then wait and hope to start Cameron. Options that are likely better than Fleener include, Jared Cook, Anthony Fasano, Jermaine Gresham and maybe Brandon Myers.

Kelce. i have him on two of three teams. he gets decent targets.

  16. Jason Guest

If your options are only Kelce and Fleener, I would go with Kelce. If any of the guys are available like Joe stated, I would go with Cook. The matchup is right this week with him. I like him a little better than Kelce this week.

  17. smcndfan Franchise Player Steelers

I'm looking for a TE to start for the next two weeks and be a backup in case Cameron gets hurt again. We have a limit of 8 drop/adds for the year. I don't want to use more than 1 on a TE.

  18. StlCrtn Franchise Player Steelers

Kelce is the top projected TE available in my leagues over the next 3 weeks.

  19. smcndfan Franchise Player Steelers

I waited too long to decide. Someone picked up Kelce. J Cook has the same bye week as J Cameron.

    Is Paul Niles available?

    How about Larry Donnell?

With Cousins at QB, Niles value should remain high.

Donnell has some opportunity in NY to get some points.
