Adrian Peterson remains on track to return to Vikings this season When Vikings running back Adrian Peterson underwent surgery to repair a torn lateral meniscus in September, he hoped to return in late December before a playoff run. Roughly two months since his surgery, the former NFL MVP remains on track to achieve his goal. According to several people briefed on his rehab, Peterson's desire to return before the end of the season is still realistic. No one knows for sure when he'll be back -- his return is based on several factors -- but there have been no complications to his ongoing recovery. What exactly has Peterson been doing to get back to the field? He has not been cleared to run on the field yet, sources say. But he is working out in the HydroWorx pool, the underwater treadmill that has him running while putting just 30 percent of his bodyweight on his knee. He isn't running on his full body weight yet, and he must slowly ramp up to that. The next step is to run carrying more body weight in the anti-gravity pool. Once he clears that hurdle, normal running is next. The Vikings won't know his actual return date until he runs in normal conditions and they see how the knee reacts. If it swells up or is irritated, they'll reel him back. If it's all good, he'll continue to move forward in his rehab. Peterson is at his playing weight and is as strong as ever. If his knee can handle the increase in workload, there are no obstacles. Three months (December 22) would be on the quick side for a recovery for a repaired meniscus, but it wouldn't be unheard of. Generally three to four months is the timeframe. The Vikings play the Packers in Week 16 on Dec. 24. (NFL.com)
AP could help the run game when you have no run game not even a threat of one its bad,but i wonder the Vikings seem to be in chaos...man it seems like no matter what they try it goes all wrong ( sigh )
why? is he gonna play i was impressed by Nick Easton playing center,i have to eat some crow with gravy and bread & hot sauce as much i talked about Matt Kalil he would have helped the run game again TJ Clemmings looks LOST!!!!!!
walking wounded Harrison Smith the hits just keep coming, its just to much this finding all kinda ways to lose the Defense played really well the Offense just won't help...the back-ups to the back-ups are starting *HELP*
The Vikings haven?t gotten much good news lately. They got some on Monday. ?Mike Zimmer has returned to his coaching duties and is expected to travel with the team to Jacksonville for this weekend?s game,? G.M. Rick Spielman announced. The phrase ?travel with the team? implies he?ll be flying from Minneapolis to Jacksonville. The phrase ?is expected to? implies that plans could change. Zimmer, who had emergency surgery on Wednesday to repair a detached retina, will need clearance to fly in a pressurized cabin. Otherwise, the Vikings would have?to find another way to get Zimmer to Florida. The 6-6 Vikings remain alive for the wild-card berth. They have a longer shot to win the NFC North; they?ll need to run the table and hope the Lions lose three of their final four games.
Adrian Peterson: No return if we are out of playoff?contention If the Vikings want to get running back Adrian Peterson back on the field this season, they?re going to need to win?their next couple of games. Peterson spoke to reporters at the team?s facility on Wednesday and said that he expects his surgically repaired knee will feel well enough for him to return to action for the final games of the regular season. He appears to be targeting the December 24 game against the Packers as a possible return date, but added that it would be ?pointless? to play in that game or their Week 17 matchup with the Bears if the Vikings are already out of playoff contention. ?Obviously, if we lose two games, we?re out,? Peterson said, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. ?So we?ll just play it by ear. ? I?m thinking that we?re going to make the playoffs so that?s what I?m keeping my mind set on.? The Vikings are in Jacksonville this weekend, so they stand a pretty good chance of winning their second game since October 9. They?ll play the Colts at home in Week 15 and winning both won?t give them a playoff spot, but it seems it would make it a lot likelier that they?ll have Peterson?s help for a final push.
If you are a key member of the Minnesota Vikings, keep your head on a swivel. You could be the next man to go down. Pro Bowl safety Harrison Smith was the latest to suffer an injury that could wipe out the rest of his season. Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported?that Smith will miss Sunday's game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars with a high ankle sprain and could be out for the remainder of the regular season.
saw the pic of Zimmer the eye looks pretty bad..again the Vikings are the walking wounded i don't know what to expect, this finding new ways to lose its just mind blowing..(the Offense just won't help to much of the dink and dunk) CP should be the deep play threat,Laquon Treadwell & Kyle Rudolph should run slants and seam passes just be a pain in the azz to Defense IMO,next year will be interesting with Sam Bradford & Teddy Bridgewater and they have so many needs!
this darn injury bug is really bad i mean REALLY BAD!!!! BOOM it just destroyed the Vikings,Sam Bradford is ok but he' not Sam the Man
Adrian Peterson says he?s practicing this?week Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said last week that he would shelve his plans to return to action this season if the Vikings lost two straight games to drop out of contention for a playoff spot, but the Vikings were able to come up with their second win in their last eight games against the Jaguars last Sunday. As a result, he says his plans to get back on the field are moving forward. During an interview with DJ Skee on DashRadio.com, Peterson said that he intends to join the team at practice this week. ?I plan on practicing this week to really get my legs under me and get a good feel on where I?m at,? Peterson said. ?So, this week is going to be big for me. My plan, and my vision, is to be back for the Green Bay game [on December 24]. That?s what I?m envisioning. Of course, the perfect scenario would be we win out and I?m able to rest up for three weeks, and be ready for the playoffs. That?s the perfect scenario. But I?ll be out there this week practicing, and I?ll go from there.?
that's good to hear that they will have some what of a run game, hope the O-line comes to play? Matt Asaita and Jerick McKinnon could not get the job done..i was surprised by Sam Bradford throwing downfield with some blocking and now he might have a run game fingers crossed hoping for the best here
sad to say the O-line did not show up to play Harrison Smith was greatly missed yesterday,i was just stunned by the lack of effort in your own Stadium....I'AM REALLY AMAZED HOW IT ALL FELL APART when it started so well
What a nightmare this season turned out to be. Coming into this campaign I had real high hopes... shot down in flames.
how crazy is going to get the Offense just won't help the Defense..week after week its the same thing Defensive players got to be getting PO
...and their out there all day too. They've been taken a beating. Vikings need a man with a plan on offense.
is Alex Boone a bust i keep waiting for him to have big day and help TJ Clemmings cause this guy is just awful....keep waiting for him to step up and be a leader so far zippo
