Cordarrelle Patterson recognizes that this upcoming season he may be down to his last shot with the Minnesota Vikings, and he has admitted his lack of worth ethic and commitment to improvement has put him in this precarious position.

?Sometimes you can be here and you feel like you?ve got to be on the team,? Patterson said, per the St. Paul Pioneer Press. ?You feel like, ?Yeah, I?m a first-round pick, I?m on the team.? Things like that, sometimes they make you not work hard, they make you don?t want to do things, make you be lazy.?

The Vikings selected Patterson out of Tennessee with the 29th pick of the 2013 NFL Draft. And by all accounts it certainly seemed like he was a superstar in the making. The speedy and well-built wide receiver caught 45 passes for 469 yards and four touchdowns, added 12 carries for 158 yards and three touchdowns, and reached the end zone on two kickoff returns.

But since then, Patterson has been a profound disappointment. In 2014, his production from an offensive standpoint regressed significantly with only 33 catches for 384 yards and one touchdown. It got even worse last season, as his inability to learn the offense left the Vikings wary of putting him on the field, and his numbers suffered, catching only two balls for 10 yards.

He remained a dangerous threat in the return game, though ? becoming an All-Pro in that role ? with two kickoff returns for TDs last season while averaging 31.8 yards per return with six going 40 yards or more.

But Patterson frustratingly has never developed into an every-down wideout, much less one who occasionally sees the field in offensive sets. And after the Vikings declined to pick up his fifth-year option, Patterson understands the onus is on him this season to prove he deserves a roster spot, although he?s hesitant to put too much pressure on himself.

?People say, ?It?s your make-or-break year,?? Patterson said. ?I?ve just got to go out and do what I?m supposed to. It?s a big year for me. ? We all know what I can do, and I?ve just got to show the coaches I can be there when I need to be, and be on time, be in the right place, the right depth on routes catching the ball. If I do all those things, I feel like things will work out well.? (Yard Barker)

Yard Barker is a sport publishing web-site that covers all sports. Sometimes I find some interesting Vikings stuff there, but I just un-subscribed from them because of the lack of Vikings content and the over-kill of the NBA and stuff.

So, its just a sports web-site that im not real crazy about.

He better wake up and smell the coffee and quit screwing around. His opportunity's are moving by him quickly.

Teddy Bridgewater, Minnesota Vikings _ boring or underrated?

The Minnesota Vikings made the postseason for the first time since 2012 last season, surprisingly finishing with an 11-5 record after going 7-9 the year prior. Adrian Peterson's return certainly helped -- he led the league in rushing, after all -- but Teddy Bridgewater also played a big role in the team's success. In his second NFL season, Bridgewater threw for 3,231 yards, 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions. His numbers certainly leave plenty to be desired, but his passer rating was a respectable 88.7.

Bridgewater hasn't done much for improving statistically, but his decision-making and leadership qualities have noticeably developed. He took more command of the offense last season after being more of a game manager in 2014. That will continue to improve next season and as his career rolls on. And while he doesn't get much credit for being a quarterback that takes shots downfield, he's better than most think.

He averaged 7.23 yards per attempt, which was higher than Eli Manning, Sam Bradford, Derek Carr, Aaron Rodgers and Joe Flacco. Obviously, that doesn't mean he always completes deep passes, but he's not constantly throwing the ball behind the line of scrimmage or checking it down to Peterson.

The biggest reason why he's underrated is because of the cast he had a year ago. His wide receivers weren't exactly elite, and Stefon Diggs didn't emerge as a No. 1 threat until midseason. In 2016, he'll have Diggs back to go along with a big possession receiver in Laquon Treadwell. With a better supporting cast and Peterson lining up behind him, Bridgewater should garner more respect next season. (Fox Sports)

Definitely underrated and I believe he proves that this season.

i agree with that never did understand the Teddy bashing, and i expect big things from Charles Johnson this year and Laquon Treadwell to be a redzone threat and Kyle Rudolph

I think Johnson's reception totals may go way up. He could be looking at 45+ this season if he is slotted up for the short an intermediate while Treadwell and Diggs expand the barriers. Get Moritz developed and on the field for year 2 with some meaningful reps and the weapons there for Teddy will possess some serious game changing potential, even if Johnson is let go in free agency.

The Vikings are going to have to put the ball in the air more this season to protect the longevity of Peterson.

Laquon Treadwell to revive Turner's 'Bang 8' route?

The Minnesota Vikings used this year's draft to furnish third-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater with a big, physical target in Laquon Treadwell.

The first-round selection is one of 11 wideouts on Minnesota's roster heading into training camp, but Treadwell has already made an impression on his coaches.

"He's developed himself into a good player so far," receivers aide George Stewart told the team's official website. "He's a good learner, and we'll bring him along slowly."

Said Stewart: "He's going to be a good player for us as he goes forward. The biggest thing about him that coach (Mike Zimmer) has always talked about is his toughness and his ability to make difficult catches, and he's done those things since he's been here."

Stewart's praise was matched earlier in the offseason by Bridgewater, who claimed Treadwell would "be big" for Minnesota's Norv Turner-led offense.

Turner, of course, was Michael Irvin's offensive coordinator during their run with the Super Bowl-winning Cowboys back in the 1990s. At 6-foot-2 and 221 pounds, Treadwell shares similar traits to Irvin, leading Matt Vensel of The Star Tribune to note that Turner might again lean heavily on the skinny post routes that helped vault Irvin into the Hall of Fame.

Turner's current-day version of the Air Coryell offense now has the ideal pass-catcher in Treadwell to target on those skinny posts -- which Turner and Irvin came to call the "Bang 8."

"Everyone thinks (of the offense as) the ball being thrown 40 or 50 yards," Turner said. "The biggest plays, and the plays that guys who played in this system identify with, are the 18- to 22-yard in routes, skinny posts, seam routes." (NFL.com)

I think as defenses stack the box to contain Peterson, Treadwell is going to get a lot of 1-on-1 coverage and hopefully he exposes that for some big gainers.

Treadwell could be one of the better rookies in the League... explosive for sure.

Vikings cut the ribbon at new $1.1 billion football stadium

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ? The Minnesota Vikings opened their new $1.1 billion stadium with a bang on Friday.

The Vikings held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new indoor stadium, and fireworks were shot off after Gov. Mark Dayton did the honors. It was the culmination of 31 months of construction that forced the Vikings to play for two seasons at the University of Minnesota's stadium across town.

The stadium's biggest features are a translucent roof that allows natural light and a gigantic wall of glass on the west side of the building that looks out over downtown Minneapolis. The wall includes the largest pivoting doors in the world. They are 100 feet tall and can open on warm weather days.

The Vikings will hold an open house for fans on Saturday and Sunday.
