Sam feels threatened. I understand that, but in my opinion, he needs to be quiet and let his talent do the talking. All he has to do is play better this Summer Camp and into the Fall. If he cant beat out a rookie kid with no NFL experience, he needs to go elsewhere, lol.
with more protection the Teddy to Diggs connection should be interesting as the run game...to tell the truth who will they pick if its a wr i have no idea.....if Jaylon Smith and his boo boo or Myles Jack and his boo boo,if either of them fall to where the Vikings have a shot i pick em fantasy thinking i know,IMO its a make or break year for Norv Turner
Vikings GM: We are not honed in on a WR in the 1st round EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) ? The Minnesota Vikings spent much of free agency shoring up some of the team's biggest weaknesses on the offensive line and at linebacker and safety. The one area of need they didn't address in free agency was at receiver, leading to mock drafts all over predicting that they will grab one with the 23rd overall draft pick in the first round on Thursday night. General manager Rick Spielman knows the perception about his receiver group and the expectations many fans and observers have heading into the draft. Maybe that's why he didn't wait for the questions about the position to come on Tuesday during his final meeting with reporters prior to the draft. "We're not honed in on a receiver in the first round," Spielman offered during his opening remarks. It's smoke screen season, so every quote offered by an NFL general manager should be examined for ulterior motives. But Spielman does have a history of staying true to the "best player available" cliche. When the Vikings enter the draft on Thursday, there very well could be a receiver on the board worth taking, including TCU's Josh Doctson and Mississippi's Laquon Treadwell. But the Vikings also could use depth and youth on the offensive line, an impact safety to push free agent signee Michael Griffin and another pass rusher. The Vikings decided not to bring back veteran Mike Wallace after a disappointing season, leaving them with Stefon Diggs, Jarius Wright, Charles Johnson, Adam Thielen and Cordarrelle Patterson as returning receivers. So adding another threat for third-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater would appear to be a good way for them to go, and Spielman said he likes the versatility of this class. "There's fast guys, there's possession guys. There's a lot of different flavors," he said. "We know after sitting and going through that position in particular, what guys we identify that we think would be a good fit here." He has also shown a willingness to make deals throughout draft weekend, and left the door open for that possibility on Tuesday. Spielman said he has received two calls from teams looking to move up to No. 23 ? either from lower in the first round or in the second round. "We're going to have to make some determinations and usually those decisions aren't made until we're actually on the clock," Spielman said. NOTES: Free agent signee Alex Boone confirmed that he will play LG next season, apparently paving the way for Brandon Fusco to move back to his position as RG. ... C John Sullivan said he is feeling much better after missing all of last season with back problems. Sullivan needed two surgeries to address the injury and said he has participated fully in the optional workouts at team headquarters this week. .... S Harrison Smith is up for a contract extension this summer. "I'm here to be on a very good team in 2016," Smith said. "I try not to pay attention to it. Rick's got a pretty good track record of getting things done in the offseason so I'm just going to let them handle it."
Please draft an O-lineman cause Brandon Fuco has seen better days, the Matt Kalil and the Brandon Fuco combo has not worked and was a failure center John Sullivan can he stay well for the year...the O-line has got to get younger and tougher next draft it should be about getting a STUD RUNNING BACK
i can't see Laqaun Treadwell as a Vikings,i think Lions will pick him he's a big time player a big wr like Calvin Johnson just not as fast..its looking like the wr Tyler Boyd just might be a steal for the Vikings, its all smoke and mirrors now the talk has gone wild along with the double talk lol Josh Doctson i think he will be a Texans finally its time to see what will happen
i sure hope so...cause its a make or break year for CP to show you finally got it,and can run crisp routes and be the wr Teddy needs i don't understand something when did Mike Mayock become the all seeing and knowing NFL guru ( to this day i blame him for the Troy Williamson pick i remember the wink wink talk and Mike Tice fell for it )
Check out this thread. We are all going to hang out there tonight for the draft. http://live4sportnetwork.com/forumlist/viewtopic.php?id=8112
Treadwell didn't seem that happy to be picked by the Vikings...first impression maybe he's just a low key, laid back, soft spoken type of guy
by the Vikings making this pick will it lite a red hot flame under CP azz to get his game together,CP and Treadwell could be a terror in the NFL
Vikings select WR Laquon Treadwell in first round of NFL Draft EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The Minnesota Vikings had an obvious need at wide receiver. They filled it, literally, in a big way. Mississippi's Laquon Treadwell was selected by the Vikings with the 23rd overall pick in the NFL draft on Thursday night, giving a lagging passing attack a 6-foot-2, 221-pound target who led the SEC with 1,153 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. "We wanted to get a big receiver with a big catching radius. We just felt like with this football team it was important for us to get some size out there," said coach Mike Zimmer, adding: "This guy's a big, physical guy that little guys are going to have a hard time defending." Treadwell, the all-time leading receiver in Ole Miss history with 202 career catches, recovered from a gruesome left ankle injury in 2014. His 40-yard dash time of 4.63 seconds at his on-campus pro workout day certainly gave some teams pause, but the Vikings weren't deterred. "We felt very strongly that he was one of the top receivers in this draft," general manager Rick Spielman said. "I think the 40 time may have knocked him some, but you have to go off what you see on tape." Baylor's Corey Coleman was the first wide receiver off the board, snagged by Cleveland at No. 15. Houston flip-flopped with Washington to take Notre Dame's Will Fuller at No. 21, and then TCU's Josh Doctson followed. Spielman said the Vikings fielded calls from four teams trying to trade into their spot, but he balked. The run of wide receivers left little guarantee they'd be able find a top-tier player if they went lower. Treadwell became the highest selection by the Vikings at the position since Percy Harvin went at No. 22 in 2009. They also took a wide receiver in the first round in 2013, when Cordarrelle Patterson was the pick at No. 29. Treadwell was widely pegged as the top player at his position after the scouting combine, though the quartet with him, Coleman, Doctson and Fuller was relatively even in most analyses. "I won't give you how they were rated, but I know we thought very highly of him," Spielman said. Treadwell didn't appear to be disappointed by being the last of the four top wide receiver prospects selected. "I'm honored," Treadwell said during an interview on NFL Network. "I'm just proud to be a part of the Vikings right now. It's just a journey." Spielman compared Treadwell to Pro Football Hall of Fame member Michael Irvin and three-time Pro Bowl pick Anquan Boldin. The Vikings raved about Treadwell's tenacity on the field, his ability to make catches in traffic and use his big body to his advantage. "He is the best blocking receiver that I've ever seen," Zimmer said.
looking good i'm still in shock the Lions and the Bears let Laquon Treadwell to get picked up by the Vikings i thought Lions were going to take him
Vikings select Clemson CB Mackensie Alexander in 2nd round of NFL Draft EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The "Cornerback Whisperer" just got another pupil to mentor. The Minnesota Vikings drafted Clemson defensive back Mackensie Alexander with the 54th overall pick in the second round on Friday, giving coach Mike Zimmer another young player in the secondary to mold into an impact player. Zimmer has long had a reputation for developing defensive backs, and the Vikings could use some depth there with 37-year-old Terence Newman set to be the oldest defensive player in the NFL next season and Trae Waynes coming off of a rookie season in which he spent most of his time on special teams. "I'm extremely excited about that. I'm really eager to learn from him," Alexander said of Zimmer. "I'm just eager to be around him and willing to learn. I'm very coachable and I'm just excited right now."
Vikings enter final day of draft with 6 picks EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) ? The Minnesota Vikings head into the last day of the NFL draft armed with six picks in the final four rounds. The Vikings have a fourth-rounder, a fifth-rounder and two picks each in the sixth and seventh rounds on Saturday. Vikings GM Rick Spielman says the excess picks give him the ability to try to trade up if he sees a player available that the team covets. The Vikings drafted Ole Miss receiver Laquon Treadwell in the first round on Thursday, then took Clemson cornerback Mackensie Alexander in the second round on Friday. Spielman traded their third-round pick to the Dolphins for Miami's sixth-rounder in this year's draft and picks in the third and fourth rounds next year.
