Hey Badd_Man, who should the Vikings pick in the 1st round of the draft or what position would you like to see addressed first?

  10. Badd_Man1 M.V.P. Vikings

i hope the Vikings go defense cause i think they can get a pretty good wr in the later rounds,i want it to be a linebacker to replace Chad Greenway who to pick well that's a tough one gonna have to check that out and a D-lineman 1 and 2 to shut down the running game cold...NFL.com they have no respect for the NFC CHAMPS VIKINGS much respect to Jared Allen cause under Frazier it was Jared Allen for the Vikings Defense and AP for the Vikings Offense the painful and wasted years sigh, who to target?

    MINNESOTA VIKINGS (11-6)

LAST SEASON: Surpassed Packers to win NFC North for first time in six years, before crushing one-point loss to Seahawks at home in record cold capped by Blair Walsh's miss of 27-yard field goal. Defense ranged from decent to dominant under sage supervision of coach Mike Zimmer. Teddy Bridgewater's performance was better than rookie season, but he ranked in bottom third of league in major QB statistical categories except completion percentage (ninth, 65.3). Adrian Peterson won NFL rushing title. Offensive line struggled often. Stefon Diggs was only one with 500-plus yards receiving.

    THEY NEED: WR, OT, S.

THEY DON'T NEED: QB, CB, DT.

POSSIBLE FIRST PICK: WR Corey Coleman, Baylor; OT Jack Conklin, Michigan State; OT Taylor Decker, Ohio State; WR Josh Doctson, TCU; WR Will Fuller, Notre Dame.

OUTLOOK: GM Rick Spielman used free agency to land likely starters on offensive line (Alex Boone, Andre Smith) and at safety (Michael Griffin) while bringing back whopping 13 players whose contracts expired. Still, release of Mike Wallace left even bigger opening for elite rookie to fill at WR, with plenty of candidates expected to be available at No. 23 or in second round at No. 54. With three veterans unsigned past this year in Smith, Matt Kalil and Phil Loadholt, finding a top-flight tackle would be smart, too.

this is all CP fault all this talk about a wr he never stepped up his game like i thought..Pitt wr Tyler Boyd looks pretty damn good, the Vikings do need a safety cause how much does Newman have left..Darian Thompson Boise State,Karl Joseph WV he's only 5'11 197 lbs this guy is just a real hard hitter,Keanu Neal Florida Gators plays like he's out to prove he's no joke the countdown is on tick tick to the draft

  14. Badd_Man1 M.V.P. Vikings

i expect a big bounce back year for Charles Johnson..i hope the Vikings take a real close look at Sterling Shepard wr Oklahoma

It's wide receiver time again: Vikings need playmaker in NFL Draft

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Every few years, the Minnesota Vikings have returned to the well in the first round of the NFL draft, seeking the type of game-breaking wide receiver that Randy Moss once was.

Next weekend, they could be back.

"If there's a good one there when we're ready to pick, then I have no problem taking a wide receiver," coach Mike Zimmer said. "The more playmakers you get, the better chance you have of increasing big plays."

The Vikings are still searching for that dynamic player at this high-profile, sometimes-perplexing position they've missed since Moss first departed by trade more than a decade ago.

Troy Williamson, the seventh overall selection out of South Carolina in 2005, was the first failed replacement.

Percy Harvin, who came from Florida in 2009 at No. 22, was worth the draft slot for on-field production and offensive value even if his skill set differed from the typical go-to wide receiver. Concerns about his health and attitude, though, prompted the Vikings to deal him to Seattle.

Cordarrelle Patterson was the 29th pick out of Tennessee in 2013. A raw-at-best route runner, he's a kickoff returner and not much else.

So after upgrading the offensive line with Alex Boone and Andre Smith and adding veteran strong safety Michael Griffin to the defense's most insecure position during free agency, the Vikings will take an obvious need into the No. 23 selection in the first round of the draft next Thursday.

Yes, it's wide receiver time again.

After releasing Mike Wallace, the Vikings have just one 1,000-yard man on the roster in Jarius Wright. That's for career totals, not a season. Stefon Diggs produced a promising rookie year and Charles Johnson is a bounce-back candidate, but beyond them? Adam Thielen's role is more for depth and special teams. Isaac Fruechte and Terrell Sinkfield, the only other two wide receivers on the roster beside Patterson, have never appeared in an NFL game.

Here are some key angles to keep an eye on with the Vikings next weekend during the draft:

PASS-CATCHING CANDIDATES: Laquon Treadwell (Mississippi), Josh Doctson (TCU), Will Fuller (Notre Dame), Corey Coleman (Baylor) and Michael Thomas (Ohio State) are the top prospects at wide receiver this year.

Treadwell recovered from a gruesome left ankle injury in 2014 to lead the SEC with 1,153 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2015. Doctson recorded a 41-inch vertical jump at the NFL scouting combine, the highest of the wide receivers and third-best overall. Fuller ran a 4.32-second 40-yard dash at the combine, the fastest at his position of those who participated and second overall. Coleman won the Biletnikoff Award for the country's most outstanding wide receiver. Thomas might have the most well-rounded skill set of the group. (AP)

A bit of a long post/article, but I found it to be interesting. I like the idea of another sure handed receiver for Teddy. If they want a good one, they may have to pick one 1st.

yeah that's a hurting list ever since Moss being traded to the Raiders ( boy i was so mad i was like why? ) its been hit and miss ever since...if the Vikings go for a wr looks like it might be Josh Doctson i just have this strange feeling about the whole thing hmmm.,Sam Bradford what the hell...you just shown your out for me and not team i wonder if any team can really TRUST you now

  19. Badd_Man1 M.V.P. Vikings

will the Vikings pick Micheal Thompson wr of Ohio while he's no Randy Moss..he's a tough and damn good wr as good as Treadwell and his hands are i just wonder can he fit with the Vikings speedy and quick wr ?

  20. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

The fellas that do the mock draft predictions are going between Doctson and Treadwell, but a few are targeting Thompson. I think any of the 3 would be good targets for Teddy... I hope they turn out as exciting as Stephon Diggs was last year, lol. How sweet would that be?
