Minnesota Vikings 2015 record: 11-5 (.504) Top need: Wide receiver Other needs: Offensive guard, outside linebacker, safety Top prospects at positional needs: WR: Laquon Treadwell (Ole Miss), Tyler Boyd (Pittsburgh), Corey Coleman (Baylor); Guard: Cody Whitehair (Kansas State), Joshua Garnett (Stanford), Landon Turner (North Carolina); OLB: Myles Jack (UCLA), Jaylon Smith (Notre Dame), Leonard Floyd (Georgia); Safety: Darian Thompson (Boise State), Jayron Kearse (Clemson), Deon Bush (Miami). Analysis: Teddy Bridgewater has shown maturity and ability, but he needs more help outside to go along with draft steal Stefon Diggs at receiver. Chad Greenway's contract expires this season and the Vikings will need to find a capable replacement at his linebacker spot. With Brian Robison turning 33 this summer, a true edge presence as a pass rusher might be coveted by head coach Mike Zimmer for his defensive front. The Vikings would be wise to add a guard (or two) to compete for a starting spot as soon as the 2016 season. Help at safety is very likely on the Vikings radar at some point in the offseason.
this Taylor Decker tackle-Ohio State looks interesting, cause i don't know if Kyle Murphy will still be on board ( they need a center FA ) when the Vikings pick they don't need a DE its Danielle Hunter time now,so many needs they have.. AP can't play forever they got to draft a workhouse rb...its all about depth the Vikings need depth.....oh btw i'm on the Panthers bandwagon if they jump out to a big lead can Peyton and Broncos come back and win cool pic of trophy and the number 50 both teams play outstanding defense we will see which team shows up hope its a good game
maybe Pat Shurmur TE coach can work with McCole Pruitt cause Norv seems to forgotten him,it makes me wonder about Norv's job security...the O-line has got to get younger so Teddy can gel with these guys, because it just seemed out of sync at times...how come the guy the O-lineman we got from the 49ers for Gerald Hodges i think his name is Nick Easton not sure about the last name, don't know what he can do because he did not play
Not positive, but just a depth move. O-line stayed relatively healthy so he didnt get in. Good point on Pruitt, but he gets caught up in the depth game too.
Zimmer on Shurmur's full role: 'We're not really into titles' innesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has bolstered his staff by adding Pat Shurmur, who previously served as Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator and interim head coach. Before that he spent two seasons as head coach of the Cleveland Browns. With the Vikings, Shurmur has been named tight ends coach. His experience, however, should permeate the entire offense. Zimmer said his team doesn't give fancy secondary titles to reflect that type of impact. _________________________________________________________________________________________
Vikings GM: Teddy Bridgewater going to be 'something special' Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman selected Teddy Bridgewater with the last pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, hoping that he would become the team's franchise quarterback. Almost two years later, it sounds like Spielman is still pleased with his pick. While speaking with Alex Marvez and Mark Dominik on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Thursday night, he confidently stated that the Vikings believe Bridgewater will be "something special" in the future. Via SiriusXM NFL Radio on SoundCloud: "Teddy, he?s just so calm. Through the ups and downs and as he?s growing as a young quarterback, his demeanor never changes. The one thing that I know: He?s always the first one in the building and the last one to leave the building, and that resonates down through that locker room. And all those guys see that. I think the key to that position is showing your teammates that you?re willing to do everything you can to give them the best chance to win. I know our team and our coaches and myself believe that this kid is going to be something special down the road here."
in FA and in the draft i just hope Ricky, gives Teddy Bridgewater the help he needs to become a special type of player....and i'm going to checkout some LB's man it's going to be mock draft this and mock draft that and FA its always weird with players switching teams, and the draft is months away...its a interesting time of the year
if the Panthers jump out to a big lead might be bad news, can this Manning bring them back the old Manning could this one i don't know..Myles Jack UCLA is pretty damn good and fast so is Leonard Floyd of Georgia he really brings the pressure Scooby Wright looks like a monster in Arizona, Cyrus Jones Alabama looks real fast and Karl Joseph WVU Safety they look like a Joey Browner type of player,Jaylon Smith Notre Dame a real bad dude,Michael Thomas Ohio State looks pretty good but this Laquon Treadwell Ole Miss looked just awesome catching the ball with his hands, wow this Su'a Cravens this guy is sneaky good would look good in purple is he even in the draft? if not someone to keep your eye on,Jeremy Cash Duke Strong Safety he's better than i thought
I wish i was a draft expert, but im not. You named some pretty good raw talent. I just hope for continued success for the Vikings like they have had for the past couple seasons... especially last years draft. It was a great one.
2016 NFL Draft: Minnesota Vikings Current Draft Selections 221 of the picks in the 2016 NFL Draft have been distributed as of today. While we're still waiting for Compensatory picks to be announced. . .don't worry, the Minnesota Vikings won't be getting any of those. . .we can take a look at exactly what selections our favorite football team holds at this point. Here are all of the selections that the Minnesota Vikings currently possess. Rick Spielman has said on more than one occasion that he likes to have ten picks to use on draft day. As things stand right now, he has eight. With the Vikings having built themselves up the way they have so far, I don't think there's enough room on the roster for eight or nine rookies to make the team again, but I'm sure that Spielman will do what he needs to do to put this team in the best possible position to win.
it will be very interesting by the time the Vikings pick,in 1st round 23 then its a long wait till 54 then it a long wait till 86...will it be a LB or a WR i really have no idea now..they got get real active in ( FA ) Tackle,Center,Nose Tackle,Guard,Safety, how will this 2016 draft play out,i just hope Coach Zimmer and Ricky have a good draft
Bridgewater is, at best, an average QB. Therefore, you need to put weapons around him. No doubt they need help at WR. Free Agency doesn't have much to offer in that regard (presuming Jeffery stays a Bear), but the draft does. I would expect the Vikings to go WR in one of the first two rounds due to both supply and demand. Disclaimer: that was not a dig at Bridgewater. He is what he is. We have Cutler, so... I'm not talking trash, trust me.
any help the O-line gets would be a blessing they do need a Tackle in the WORST way,Matt Kalil is just awful they do need a wr,db's backs bad, draft a stud LB..one thing the Vikings need is depth is what they need
I had no idea we had a Vikings fan base on here! I've found a new board to creep on. *WRITE* Is Matt Kalil still playing that bad? I could of sworn he showed improvement the season before last, granted, I didn't hear anything about this past season. Is he still playing LT? If not, do you guys think he'd be suitable for a transition to the right side?
I think he has shown improvement, but still has plenty of work to do and the ability to get better in my opinion. One great thing about him is the last 2 seasons he has stayed away from injury and played every game. The experience is paying off. I think he will stay put at LT because on the right side at tackle is a developing rookie named T.J. Clemmings. So, i think Kalil stays put for now. _____________ You, and anybody of any fandom persuasion are always welcome here. Stop by anytime and often.
not a big fan of Matt Kalil ever since his rookie year its been all downhill,he has stayed pretty much injury free but sometimes he gets beat to easy...gives up to quick IMO and watches Teddy Bridgewater get crushed, and the Left side of the Vikings O-line was just so so the O-line as a whole has got to get better and younger...it was a weak spot
