The Minnesota Vikings active roster is down to 78 players with the release of running back Joe Banyard, tight end Brandon Bostick, cornerbacks Jalil Carter and Justin Coleman, wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, tackle Stephen Goodin, linebacker Josh Kaddu, wide receiver Jordan Leslie, defensive end Caesar Rayford, defensive tackle Chrishon Rose and cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke. Minnesota will need to make three more moves by Tuesday afternoon to reach the mandated roster limit of 75 players. __________________________________________________________________ I really liked Banyard, he sould be good for someone at some time, just not now. I wonder if Bostick is the guy i seen in college, i believe with The Buckeyes... i'll have to check. I really understand all the CB's getting cut too... the Vikings are stacked there.
i thought Banyard would make the practice squad....but he's a good enough rb to make some other team, good luck to Joe Banyard the cuts can be brutal and this is just the beginning
ohhhhh Coach Zimmer is not ready to name Trae Waynes as the starting cb,man you better your game together quick cause Zimmer gives me the impression he's not afraid to cut you..no matter where you were drafted
not surprised at all it was to be expected they had to do this dance or whatever it was,you just knew that Tom ( Golden Boy ) Brady was going to win what a WASTE of time lol Rodger Goodell is looking like the class clown...the NFL for years has revolved around Tom Brady his winning this was never in doubt
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Minnesota Vikings have traded for offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles from the Chargers in exchange for a sixth-round pick in next year?s draft. Sirles started one game in 2014 while playing in two games for the Chargers.
Twenty-two players were officially released by Minnesota on Saturday, the most notable among them being offensive lineman David Yankey, defensive backs Shaun Prater and Josh Thomas, linebacker Michael Mauti and running backs DuJuan Harris and Dominique Williams. Also on Saturday, Minnesota traded for guard/tackle Jeremiah Sirles, formerly of the San Diego Chargers. Sirles, a Nebraska product, was an undrafted free agent in 2014 and made a late-season start for San Diego in 2014. The full list of Vikings who were released on Saturday includes Yankey, Prater, Thomas, Mauti, Harris and Williams, in addition to tackle Babatune Aiyegbusi, defensive tackle Chigbo Anunoby, defensive end B.J. DuBose, guard Isame Faciane, center Tom Farniok, receiver Donte Foster, receiver Isaac Fruechte, safety Anthony Harris, defensive tackle Greg Hickman, defensive end Leon Mackey, linebacker Brian Peters, fullback Blake Renaud, tackle Tyrus Thompson, center Bob Vardaro, linebacker Brandon Watts and receiver Ryan Whalen. Additionally, cornerback Jabari Price was placed on the reserved/suspended list, as expected. Among other notable roster moves, Minnesota opted to keep undrafted rookie Taylor Heinicke on its active roster, giving the club three QBs. Heinicke, following a prolific career at Old Dominion, was deemed worthy of a roster spot, as the Vikings weren't willing to risk letting him slip away via waivers. The Vikings also opted to keep four tight ends, paving the way for Chase Ford to remain on the roster. The Vikings kept nine offensive linemen, nine defensive linemen and nine defensive backs. With top offensive line backup Joe Berger filling in at center recently, Minnesota was reportedly concerned about its depth at guard. Thus, the Vikings cut Yankey, their fifth-round pick out of Stanford in 2014, who did not play a regular-season snap in 2014. Minnesota ended up keeping eight of its 10 draft picks.
The cuts (and a trade) have been made to make up your 2015 Minnesota Vikings ? for now. Expect Minnesota to keep their eye on other teams cuts and make a transaction or two in the coming days. The Minnesota Vikings will be without starting center John Sullivan for at least the first nine weeks of the 2015 NFL season, according to a report. ESPN?s Adam Schefter broke this news on Thursday morning, just four days before the Vikings take on the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football to open the season. The center needed surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back and was placed on the IR with a designation to return. The Vikings, already without starting right tackle Phil Loadholt, are now in dire straits as it relates to protecting second-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and paving running lanes for All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson. Losing a center can be devastating for an offense?especially one with a young developing quarterback. Making matters worse, starting left tackle Matt Kalil has been a bitter disappointment to the club since his promising rookie campaign in 2012. It?s going to be interesting to see how Bridgewater adapts to this latest challenge. He?s going to likely be under fire early and often while opposing defenses tests Minnesota?s battered offensive line. As we?ve seen so often in the past, many a promising quarterback?s career has been derailed?or at least thrown off kilter?for lack of protection.
Mike Zimmer wonders whether his Vikings are 'ready for primetime' (FOX SPORTS) The Minnesota Vikings helped finalize the NFL's first week of regular-season games, as they took on the San Francisco 49ers for a late Monday night game at Levi's Stadium. The Vikings were beat on the road, 20-3, in an embarrassing display of ineptitude on national television. The decisive loss had Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer wondering about his team's preparedness after the game, according to a Tweet by VikingUpdate.com. true Zimmer: "Maybe we're not ready for prime time yet." #Vikings ? VikingUpdate.com (@VikingUpdate) September 15, 2015 All spring and summer, the Vikings have been hyped as one of the NFL's rising teams. Yet star running back Adrian Peterson rushed only 10 times for 31 yards, and up-and-coming quarterback Teddy Bridgewater couldn't find the end zone. Worst of all, Minnesota's defense had no answer for 49ers running back Carlos Hyde, who racked up 168 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. The Vikings don't look like contenders just yet, as many fans adjust their expectations after Monday night's eye-opening experience.
oh man that was bad wasn't it..i had a flashback to Frazier not having them ready to play and Teddy some of his passes were like a wounded duck just like PONDER,and Ricky the voice is just that never ending drone he just don't sound like a winner to me,they looked like they had no legs and Blair Walsh is trouble after last night the O-line needs help bad
You nailed it. Not just a couple problems, but a boat load. I was embarrassed watching that junk. AP says he embarrassed himself. Hell, he only had 10 rushing attempts. The Vikings did not look ready at all and the defense was completely man-handled too. I hope this was just a fluke, but if they dont miraculously right the ship this week, the Lions are going to kill them.
they need to turn the page..not a Trae Waynes fan but play him and Eric Kendrick play him and Stefon Diggs find some way to get him into the game, the Vikings need something, and why don't they just hire Dennis Green as the O-line coach because the O-line coach they got now it just seems like its not getting any better IMO
I can only hope the 49ers were underestimated and are stronger in the run game than most people thought. I watched Hyde run for a while, he's pretty darn good. If the Vikings lose to Detroit and cant stop the run or block up front... it's going to be a looooooong season.
San Fran rb Hyde is very good wish the Vikings had him,if he don't get hurt he can only get better and better
