The Minnesota Vikings on Friday opened the 21-day practice window for Pro Bowl tight end T.J. Hockenson, who has been on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list since the start of training camp. The Vikings have 21 days to activate Hockenson to the 53-man roster and could wait until the Week 8 game at the Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 24. He is expected to participate in Friday's practice in London, where Minnesota (4-0) plays the New York Jets (2-2) on Sunday. Hockenson tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee on Dec. 24 in a 30-24 loss to his former team, the Detroit Lions. The 27-year-old Hockenson had surgery on Jan. 29. He is a two-time Pro Bowl selection (2020, 2022). Entering his sixth NFL season, Hockenson was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Lions, who traded him to Minnesota in November 2022. In 72 career games (60 starts), Hockenson has 3,547 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns. Before the injury last season, Hockenson had 95 catches on 127 targets for 960 yards and five TDs. YARDBARKER _____________ Hockenson is the only Viking on the injury report, thats pretty amazing when you look around the League. Everybody practiced Friday and is good to go.
Aaron Jones is having an MRI on his hip today, lets hope its negative. If Jone's misses some time (bye next week is cool), Im not real thrilled with what ive seen from Chandler so far, hopefully if he's called upon, he can step up.
Hope everything thing turns out ok, I'm not sure about chandler being no 1 he's ok giving Aaron Jones a breather
Running back Myles Gaskin has been shuttling back and forth from the Vikings’ practice squad to their active roster, but he’ll be staying with the big club for a bit. The NFL’s daily transaction report shows that they have signed Gaskin to their 53-man roster. Tight end Robert Tonyan was released in a corresponding move. Gaskin has appeared in every game for the Vikings this season. He’s carried the ball three times for a loss of one yard, caught one pass for 11 yards and returned three kickoffs for 60 yards in those appearances. Tonyan made three appearances this season. He saw most of his playing time on special teams. PFT
EAGAN, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones is week-to-week because of a right hip injury, coach Kevin O'Connell said Tuesday as the team heads into its bye week. Jones left Sunday's 23-17 victory over the New York Jets during the first half and did not return. O'Connell said Jones is continuing to be evaluated but added: "All the early information that we've got so far, it looks like we've avoided a long-term injury." It's not yet clear whether Jones will be ready to play when the Vikings return from their bye for a Week 7 divisional game against the Detroit Lions. If he remains sidelined, backup Ty Chandler would step in. ESPN
"The Vikings have now traded for Akers for the second season in a row after trading a 2026 conditional sixth-round pick to the Houston Texans in exchange for the 25-year-old running back and a 2026 conditional seventh-round pick on Tuesday."
Thanks, Joe... Ive also heard a rumor Aaron Jones will play vs the Lions, but thats not confirmed yet. Vikings need depth there anyways whether Jones can go or not.
Hope that means he's good to go the run game suffered when he got banged up in London they will need him against the Detroit Lions
Still up in the air on Jones status for Sunday vs the Lions... The Vikings made a trade for Texans’ running back — and former Viking — Cam Akers on Tuesday night. But the trade didn’t indicate anything was seriously wrong with starter Aaron Jones. The first-year running back left the Jets game during Week 5 action after taking a hit and didn’t return to the game. Even after a bye week in which he rehabbed, Jones told reporters that he was “not sure” if he would play on Sunday against the Lions. Jones plans to practice on Thursday and Friday and will know if he can give it a go on Sunday in a pivotal divisional game. Jones actually said he hurt his hip pregame in London. He said he felt something when he was stretching but wanted to play. He then took a hit against a Jets’ defender and knew there was something wrong. If Jones cannot play against Detroit, expect Ty Chandler and Cam Akers to see the snaps. VIKINGSWIRE
Oh no not liking the not sure but I think he will play it's a BIG GAME if he doesn't play i hope it's Cam Akers that starts and Ty Chandler gives a breather I'm not comfortable with him starting anyway GO VIKINGS beat the Lions
Here is some good news, but it could change... RB Aaron Jones (hamstring) is likely to play in Sunday's game versus the Lions, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.
That is good news Aaron Jones will play starting to like the Cam Akers trade hope he's see some playing time i see Ty Chandler as a nice change of pace rb
I just hope the Vikings D-line and backers can stop that 2-headed running attack of the Lions and there must be non-stop relentless pressure on Goff... this game has got me anxious already.
