It’s time for Vikings to put money where mouth is on Justin Jefferson Before the draft, the situation for the Vikings and star receiver Justin Jefferson was simple. Pay him, or trade him to someone who will. Now that the trade window has closed (for now), the Vikings need to pay him. Recent comments from G.M. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah suggest that they will indeed pay him. But past comments from Adofo-Mensah created that same vibe. They still haven’t paid him. It really would be easy to do a deal, given Adofo-Mensah’s past admission that Jefferson should be paid like a top non-quarterback. 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa currently holds that title, at $34 million per year in new money. So, four years, $122.043 million. First three years, fully guaranteed. That’s new money of $34.1 million per year. Done deal today. During the draft, Adofo-Mensah said, among other things, that the Vikings want Jefferson to get his deal at a time when he can have the spotlight to himself. Did the Eagles think that with A.J. Brown? Did the Lions think that with Amon-Ra St. Brown? Both got market-altering deals last week that won’t make it any cheaper to sign Jefferson. The price NEVER goes down. Whatever it would have been last September, when Jefferson supposedly rejected $30 million per year, it will be higher now. And it will keep going up. And up. And up. So do it now, Vikings. Do it today. The time for anger, denial, bargain, and depression are over. It’s time to accept that the price is high and keeps going up. Stop the bleeding. Start the typing. Make it happen. PFT (Florio is a huge Vikings fan) ________ _____________________ I agree with Mike, get it done! Now!
The Vikings have formalized an obvious move for their offensive line. Minnesota announced on Monday that the club has exercised left tackle Christian Darrisaw’s fifth-year option. Darrisaw, 24, was the 23rd overall pick in the 2021 draft. He is now set to earn a projected $16 million in guaranteed salary for 2025. In his first three seasons, Darrisaw has appeared in 41 games with 39 starts. He made 15 starts in 2023.
The hate for the Vikings I just don't get it now on NFL.com they got a C+ this draft grading is so stupid it will take about a year or two to really evaluate to see what you got, just because you did good in college football you might suck in Pro Football this grading is so stupid all you can do is cross fingers and hope it all works out, BUT LOVE THE HATE!
Gabriel Murphy looks like a pretty active DE I see him as a rotation player I miss The Big Daddy Everson Griffin, interesting how Brian Flores will use him if he makes the roster
I saw highlights of Dallas Turner this guy ìs very fast he ĵust pure chaos, and Levi Drake Rodriguez he looks ok camp body?
Turner is a pure pass-rusher. He'll need to muscle up and get better in the trenches vs the run, but he is one hell of a disrupter when it comes to getting after the QB. Extremely fast attack at QB's, but one on one things in close quarters he tends to get slowed up. Just needs some NFL conditioning and he projects very high. IMO, if his weakness is against the run, so be it... one thing the Vikings really need is a disruptor against opposing QB's especially since Hunter is gone. I bet we see him in the opponents back-field quite regularly. Rodriquez is a mystery man to me. PFF rated him well, but he's played off the radar in a school that only the Vikings are familiar with, lol. Camp body for sure but has potential from what little i could find to read about him. Murphy is a player that might surprise, but he'll need one hell of a good camp to get some playing time this season, imo. Maybe by not getting drafted and being a UDFA, he might just have a chip on his shoulder and a mad-dog attitude and get what you mentioned, some rotational snaps this year.
Vegas odds on McCarthy starting have shot up pretty dramatically. They now have him at an almost identical over/under for yards passed as Jayden Daniels (3,075.5 yards), which suggests JJ will be the week one starter.
Wow, Thats very interesting. I was thinking, based on nothing but a hunch, that he would get clean-up duty, if available, like a 4th Quarter blow-out send in the rookie thing or maybe a start or 2 later in the season if the Playoffs arnt in play. Camp and pre-season games are going to be fun to pay attention too. JJ to JJ all day long.
Love that I been wanting the Vikings to turn page for awhile now, I will give Capt Kirk his respect but they were never going to win.a SB with him now its JJ McCarthy turn to see if he make the Minnesota Vikings elite and win a SB
Jeshaun Jones this guy looks interesting but can he stay healthy looks to be injury prone too bad I think he could be KJ Osborn replacement him and Brandon Powell could battle it out I just don't know
Trey Knox looks like a sleeper pick Jonny Mudlt (.sp ) your days might be coming to an end Vikings need another pass catching TE nice Red Zone Target he's no TJ Hockensen but nice to have in case of an emergency
Why is this taking so long to sign Justin Jefferson I'm starting to get a little concerned here Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah did well in the draft, if he keeps messing around with Justin Jefferson he's going to want out
Im not sure whats going on... its a mystery to me too. Cam Akers and Dalton Risner remain FA's also, but thats another story. On Jefferson, I believe it will end well, but the delay is in the way the contract is going to be written, such as top-dollars and guaranteed money, or even injury outs and guarantees. No doubt in my mind he will be the highest paid WR in the League, maybe even the highest paid non-QB in the NFL. This is a huge money thing for the Vikings and the parameters of the contract is in my opinion the delay maker. Before the 2024 draft, Amon-Ra St. Brown’s four-year contract worth $120 million made him the highest-paid wide receiver, until the Eagles paid Brown $32 million per season across a new three-year contract extension. Philadelphia even re-upped DeVonta Smith on a three-year deal worth $75 million, including $51 million guaranteed. So, we can blame the Eagles for this delay, lol and this delay is real good for Jefferson as the Eagles and Lions signings have raised the bar for Jefferson and all WR's. Bottom line is Jefferson is going to get paid mega-millions, but the Wilfs, Kwesi's and all the brass want to make sure they get it right, because not only will Jefferson get incredibly rich, in my opinion the delay is based on how much of this extension is going to be fully guaranteed. Thats my take, FWIW. Maybe a contract knowledgeable person on this site might stop by with some more clarifications. One of the first things I check when I finally get woke up and settled in before starting my daily work is to check whats happening in the PURPLE part of the world, so If and when I hear something, Im going to shout it from the mountain top.
I saw this on YouTube the reason Capt Kirk left the Vikings for the Falcons cause the Vikings were going to draft a QB could he really be this petty and selfish all the money he has made in the NFL having never found success in the playoffs and no SB's not a one is this true?
I've seen that reported from various Vikings and NFL sites. Apparently, he's a cut-throat kind of guy when it comes to money and contracts, plus he knew his days were numbered with his high demands and no trophies to show for it. I'm glad he's Atlanta's problem now and the Vikings can move on. That Pennix Jr pickup in the first-round for the Falcons after guaranteeing Cousins a zillion dollars doesn't look so bad now.
