Oh he coming to join the Vikings well he's a huge upgrade over Alexander Mattison if he can stay healthy and on the field he must be really pissed at the Packers
Are Kevin O’Connell, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah on the same page? As Big Cat likes to say, “Dysfunctional teams do dysfunctional things.” Which means that, when dysfunctional things happen, it’s fair to wonder whether the team doing them is dysfunctional. Case in point, Minnesota’s handling of the Kirk Cousins situation. In July 2022, G.M. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah made some comments suggesting that he doesn’t view Cousins as the long-term solution. O’Connell, by two weeks ago today, was completely and totally in support of the idea of keeping Cousins around. The organization sent no clear signals to their fans or the media covering the team as to whether it wanted Cousins back. There was no sense from the team, before Monday afternoon, whether the winds were blowing one way or the other. As O’Connell explained the situation during his visit to PFT Live, it seemed that the Vikings had a contract (amount and structure) that it was ready to offer, and that if another team beats that offer and/or structure, so be it. What did Minnesota offer to Cousins? That would shed plenty of light on whether they truly wanted to keep him. At one end of the spectrum is an offer that can’t be refused; at the other end is an offer that won’t be accepted. Did the Vikings make a perfunctory offer that basically invited him to find something better elsewhere? While the offer would shed more light on the organizational attitude toward Cousins, the fact remains that the coach wanted him and someone else didn’t. The someone else was either Adofo-Mensah or ownership. If it’s the latter, the Wilfs should let their football people do their jobs. If it’s the former, it’s fair to wonder whether O’Connell and Adofo-Mensah are on the same page. If they aren’t as to Cousins, are they as to other players, like receiver Justin Jefferson? O’Connell told us in Indianapolis that there have been no discussions about trading Jefferson. What if Adofo-Mensah decides that the only way to get in position to acquire a true franchise quarterback is to package Jefferson with the eleventh overall pick in the draft and move up? Whatever the truth, the Cousins situation suggests that there’s division. Disagreement. Possibly, dysfunction. Unless O’Connell was just being nice and secretly wanted to move on from Cousins. Time will tell whether and to what extent the decision to let Cousins walk away constitutes a “dysfunctional thing.” If it is, there will be more. Eventually, there will be enough to justify calling the Vikings a dysfunctional team. PFT / Florio ___________ ___________________ I tell you one thing... Cousins will eventually let the cat out of the bag once he's settled in Atlanta.
The Vikings will have wide receiver Brandon Powell on hand to help their offense transition to life without quarterback Kirk Cousins. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Powell has agreed to a new deal with the team. It will be a one-year deal for the wideout. Powell signed with the Vikings last year and caught 29 passes for 324 yards and a touchdown. He also served as the team’s punt returner and averaged 7.8 yards per return in that role.
I'm glad that he's still with the Vikings this guy was better than I thought so Aaron Jones is noŵ a Vikings...I can't help but wonder why?
Looks like the Vikings have lost Danielle Hunter to the Texans dammit Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah you and KOC better hit a home run in the up coming draft day 2 was full of surprises
Sam Darnold ( sp ) good or bad for the Vikings I think KOC will get him to calm down like he did with Capt Kirk
The Darnold signing only solidifies the need for the Vikings to address the QB future in the Draft. If this does not happen in round 1 with trade ups or whatever, Kwesi and the owner (Wilfs) can take a flying leap. Darnold is a step up from Mullens, Dobbs and Hall, whom is unproven so far. I cant believe Vikings ownership and staff cant see this... a solid QB is the only way any team in the NFL is going to succeed. No great field general, no win, period. Im not impressed at all with Kwesi from day 1... I think, imo, he has actually made things worse. Kwesi is new to the whole damn thing, GM and all, he needs time, but this draft is the end all imo. Right now, any idiot can see that this team or any team needs the best arm available. If you have to make sacrifices to get the arm needed for the future, you have to be aggressive and pull the trigger... and by no way, shape or form is Jefferson even in this convo.
Yeah what is with the Justin Jefferson signing ŵhy is this taking so long?...you lost Danielle Hunter to the Texans which blows my mind I'm just scared what's next ìs this about saving money waiting for the big MOVE in FA
Is Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah is he trying to sign Justin Jefferson to a òme year contract he seems like those kind of deals will he sign Justin Jefferson to a three-year deal?
Another year, another reworked contract for Vikings safety Harrison Smith. Smith took a pay cut around this time last year to end questions about whether he would remain with the team or not. Those questions trailed him into this offseason as well, but multiple reports say that he has agreed to revise his deal again. The details of the changes are not known, but they clear the way to Smith playing a 13th season for the NFC North team. Smith had 93 tackles, three sacks, three forced fumbles, and three passes defensed while playing every game last season. He enters the 2024 season tied with John Randle for 15th in franchise history in games played and will be tied for seventh with Grady Alderman if he plays every game again in 2024.
I'm watching the Kirk Cousins press conference it just blew my mind when he said it's all about Winning something he NEVER did win with the Vikings when it counted hey it's pitiful
Sam Darnold: Just excited for the opportunity to compete Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell didn’t make any guarantees about who will be their quarterback come the fall at a Thursday press conference, but the starter would almost certainly be Sam Darnold if the season started today. Darnold signed a one-year deal with the team this week and he told reporters at his own press conference that he’s excited about the offensive playmakers he may be working with in Minnesota. He acknowledged that the team may be bringing in other options, including a possible first-round pick, and said that he’ll do his best to make sure he’s the one running the offense regardless of what should happen between now and September. “No matter what happens I’m going to compete,” Darnold said, via Dane Mizutani of the Pioneer Press. “Just excited for the opportunity to do that.” Darnold’s runs as a starter with the Jets and Panthers did not turn out well, so there may not be a lot of confidence about the prospect of everything falling into place for him in Minnesota but it may be his last shot at a first-string job and Darnold seems determined to make the most of it. PFT _______ _______________ Ok, the veteran leadership in the QB room is Darnold, but the Vikings need more than that and they need a future QB... Without jumping up and getting the best QB possible this team is doomed to average for a long time. Not every QB drafted in the first round is a starter, but some are talented enough, placed in the right scheme, with good coaching they can be a quick force like CJ Stroud was and is. Some of Kwesi's comments along with KOC make it sound like they have a plan... Im not holding my breath and quite frankly, its frightening. The history of QB's in Minnesota has been a crapshoot since Tarkenton which is really surprising considering the storied franchise that the Vikings are. They've amassed great teams, but always short of that 1 damn puzzle piece.
