I really wish I could sit down in a room with Kwesi and the Wilfs and tell them like it is. They obviously have to know the talent and special player they have in JJ. I get the owners/GM's wheel and deal to get a few bucks saved, but doing this with JJ is fucking stupid, period. JJ deserves and has earned the right to be the top paid WR in the NFL.
Your right they just might screw the pooch they blew it with Randy Moss, the Vikings lucked out and got a gem in Justin Jefferson they better not fu*k it up
An assistant coach is departing the AFC West for the NFC North. Per Dan Graziano of ESPN, Broncos defensive line coach Marcus Dixon is expected to depart Denver to become the Vikings’ defensive line coach. Dixon, 39, has been with the Broncos since 2022. He was previously with the Rams in 2021 after beginning his coaching career at Hampton, where he played his college ball. After going undrafted in 2008, Dixon appeared in 22 games with four starts for the Jets from 2010-2012.
Who is he? never heard of him but if he can help fix the Vikings ailing D-line used to be pretty tough not lately though
The Vikings want to re-sign Kirk Cousins, who is set to hit free agency in March for the first since 2018. But Cousins is expected to have a strong market, even coming off a torn Achilles as he enters his age-36 season, and Minnesota is evaluating all options in the event Cousins lands elsewhere. If the price tag gets too high, the Vikings likely would pursue a more economical veteran and hope that player becomes this year’s Baker Mayfield -- current 49ers backup Sam Darnold, among others, would make sense -- while also potentially drafting a QB. (Minnesota owns the No. 11 overall pick.) Complicating matters is that superstar receiver Justin Jefferson is also up for a new contract after talks didn’t yield a deal before last season. Jefferson is a Cousins fan and will want to know the quarterback plan before signing on for the long haul. The Vikings also have another top pending free agent, edge rusher Danielle Hunter, and re-signing all three players is probably unrealistic. NFL.com ___________ ____________________ IF the Vikings cant resign Cousins, I wouldnt mind Darnold to come in or someone similar, but if they go that route, they had better snag a QB in the Draft even if it means trading up. The Vikings need help in many places, but you dont have a football team that can compete without a stud QB.
Its time to move on from him he's getting expensive and I'm tired of being mediocre and him having the Minnesota Vikings by the short hairs they need some defensive help and get somebody to help Danielle Hunter Capt Kirk you been good but not good enough it's time to the turn page the Vikings just can't afford you plus there is no sure thing you be same it just time to.the page
Some big decisions are gonna need to be made on some big name players pretty soon. Have to admit i dont get some of the talk surrounding the Vikings. They're in a slightly tough position right now in terms of the roster but ive read in some places that the decision is essentially keep Cousins or blow it up?! Is that how you two guys see it? It seems to me the Vikes should be trying to keep all 3 of them. Jefferson i can only assume he wants astronomical money. Like top WR money and by a clear margin, which they're finding difficult. Cos otherwise how is that guy not locked down already. This isnt like Diggs, who howled for a cntract, then got a 5year $70mil deal and within a year was howling for a trade. Yes, the money will be painful, but some players cant be allowed to leave and Jefferson is one of them. I'd be ecstatic if he left the division. Hunter is a stud, i really i dont think that guy gets as much praise as he deserves around the league. He arguably just had a better season than the guy who won DPOY. Letting a top tier pass rusher walk would really hurt. The Bears are paying Montez Sweat $20mil per, why cant they pay Hunter that? Most people around the league would say Hunter is better than Sweat i think. Cousins imo is not the top tier player that either of the other two clearly are at their respective positions. Of the 3 he's the one most likely to not justify the money. But he plays the mot important position and i expect he'll have a big market. Cousins is better than Derek Carr and he got $40mil x 4years. Edit: I've just had a very quick look at the Vikings cap situation. They've got massive 2024 dead cap hits for Cousins and Hunter even though they're not even under contract!! Thats what happens when a GM keeps pushing money down the road and i hate it. Its how Ryan Pace got the Bears into cap hell, the side effects of which was forcing them to trade Khalil Mack and basically making 2022 a write-off season. I dont like when GMs manage their cap situation this way. Its gonna be tough.
I couldnt have said it better. Excellent points on the contract matter. If they pay big bucks for Cousins, its just 2 more years... sign a future and plan ahead, but im not very confident in the 'powers that be' to do the right thing. There is no need to blow it up. They need to sign the big 3 and be done with it and let the chips fall where they may. A healthy Cousins is the best they can do right now, so invest in what you got and think future. They should have been better prepared from the beginning, but they dont seem to be able to look ahead. Im ready to move on from Cousins, but when you look at the roster, what in hell would be better? Cousins is their best choice on a friendly short-term deal, but he holds the wild card.
Capt Kirk got to go got to keep Justin Jefferson and Danielle Hunter is a must Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah must have a good draft in 2024 cause in 2022 draft which was his first draft was a disaster the only good player they got was Jordan Addison in 2023 they must fix the Defense hey in Skol Country it is a REAL mess with Capt Kirk I just see mediocre
Come on man! Garrett’s win rate was astronomical, even though he didn’t do jack shit on most of the wins.
Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah and the front office they better pay Danielle Hunter to let him just walk away would be insane, it's time show us Vikings fans you have a plan doesn't seem like it to me and sign and pay Justin Jefferson before he gets pissed off KOC play calling at times makes you say WTF was that....they might get it together but right now it's a huge confusing mess IMO
Safety Theo Jackson will be staying with the Vikings. The team announced that they re-signed Jackson on Wednesday. Jackson was set for exclusive rights free agency, so the team only had to tender him a contract in order to ensure that he’d remain under team control. Jackson was a 2022 sixth-round pick by the Titans and the Viking signed him off Tennessee’s practice squad in October of his rookie season. He made 11 appearances as a rookie and saw most of his time on special teams, but moved up to 126 defensive snaps during the 2023 season. Jackson has 30 tackles, an interception, a pass defensed, and a fumble recovery in his 26 career games. NBC
As a matter of fact - Kirk Cousins has made $231,000,000 in 12 years as an NFL QB. If he wants a fully guaranteed contract with top money, he's just plain greedy and its time to move on from him. IMO, the Vikings need to draft a QB round 1, period. I have spoken!!! <---- he agrees with me... nuff said.
That's a lot of money draft a QB every year and let somebody else pay him and he wants a 2yrs 90 million guaranteed are you kidding me no NFC Championships no SB's 231,000,000 tired of being mediocre want to be Elite! Vikings fans deserve this
I looked up Capt Kirk Playoff record and it's not impressive he's been to just 5 Playoffs games his record is 1-4 no NFC Championships 0 SB's 0 and he is rated very low as a QB got to give him for a so so QB he has made some money, but this guy got to go I've seen enough he cannot win the big game
Was Capt Kirk only win was he.and Vikings beat the Saints he would have lost that game if it wasn't for Kyle Rudolph saving the day, his stats are amazing but in the real world he's a choke artist but he is one tough guy imo
The Justin Jefferson contract got more expensive on Friday The Vikings probably wish they’d gotten receiver Justin Jefferson signed to a second contract before Friday. Whether they ever will remains to be seen. The one fundamental truth about giving one of your own great players the contract he deserves is that the price will always go up if you wait. Always. As of Friday, with the salary cap shooting to $255.4 million per team, Jefferson’s price goes up even higher. We’ve heard for nearly a year that the structure is a big part of the problem. The Vikings broke from their tendency to not fully guarantee dollars beyond the first year of a player’s contract for players other than Kirk Cousins last year with tight end T.J. Hockenson. Presumably, they’d use a similar structure with Jefferson, with the first two years fully guaranteed and the third year flipping to fully guaranteed at the start of the second year. Does Jefferson want three years fully guaranteed at signing? (He should.) Does he want to be the highest paid receiver in the NFL, exceeding the $30 million per year that the Dolphins are paying receiver Tyreek Hill? (Even if it’s not really a $30 million per year contract.) Whatever he wanted before Friday, he surely wants more now. As explained after Jefferson visited with PFT Live at the Super Bowl, Jefferson has been very patient. At some point, his patience will run out. He has earned a massive contract. He deserves it, from the Vikings or from someone who will give it to him. It’s still unclear what will happen with Jefferson. Here’s what is clear. With each passing day, it’s going to get more and more and more expensive. PFT/
I kept wondering the hell is Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah doing its getting more expensive...what game is he playing here sign Justin Jefferson to a fully guaranteed contract and be DONE WITH IT SILLY AZZ DRAMA the Vikings really haven't gotten any better with Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah
