The Vikings have to get Physical and you never gave DeWayne McBride a chance, got sick.and tired of the Offense never really helping the Defense out AND PLEASE DO NOT LET KOC CALL PLAYS ANYMORE and find a QB before Justin Jefferson leaves

Vikings will take a long look at whether to bench Nick Mullens, play Jaren Hall

Nick Mullens did his best impersonation of St. Nick on Christmas Eve, serving up four interceptions to the Lions. Will he have a chance to do the same thing on New Year’s Eve?

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Vikings are taking a long look at whether Mullens should be benched for rookie Jaren Hall.

Hall was the first quarterback to play after starter Kirk Cousins tore an Achilles tendon against the Packers in late October. Hall suffered a concussion on the opening drive of his first start, at Atlanta.

Hall is now healthy and ready. The question, given the various injuries the Vikings have suffered (tight end T.J. Hockenson, receiver Jordan Addison), is whether Hall has enough help around him to overcome the natural mistakes he’ll make as a first-year player.

Regardless, Mullens arguably has made too many mistakes to stay on the field. On his last interception of the game, receiver Justin Jefferson (who wasn’t double-covered, for a change) was open for what would have been a game-tying touchdown and potential go-ahead PAT. Mullens, put simply, made a bad throw in a big spot.

The spots get no bigger for the Vikings in the next two games. They need to beat the Packers and the Lions and hope for some help, in order to punch their ticket for what likely would be a short playoff run, based on the cumulative quality of the quarterback play behind Cousins.

The Vikings won’t have tight end T.J. Hockenson for the rest of the season.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed in his Tuesday press conference that Hockenson suffered a torn ACL and MCL during Sunday’s loss to the Lions.

It’s a significant blow to the Vikings’ offense, as Hockenson leads the team with 95 catches and 960 yards in his first full season with the club. While Hockenson will finish with 15 games played, both are career highs for the 26-year-old tight end. Hockenson also has five touchdowns.

Via Alec Lewis of TheAthletic.com, O’Connell also mentioned that receiver Jordan Addison (ankle) and cornerback Mekhi Blackmon (shoulder) are both day-to-day.

Their status will be worth monitoring with Minnesota’s injury reports over the course of the week.

DJ Wonnum Tore his quad also... he's also headed to IR, so huge blows to the Vikings. Addison, who suffered an ankle injury is considered day-to-day.

Nick Mullens to start for Vikings in Week 18

Though they lost to the Packers last week, the Vikings still have an outside shot at a playoff berth if they defeat the Lions on Sunday.

Minnesota will turn back to Nick Mullens to try and make that happen.

Head coach Kevin O’Connell announced at his Wednesday press conference that Mullens will start the Vikings’ regular-season finale.

“Nick has been very effective moving the team,” O’Connell said. “We’ve been very explosive as an offense when he’s been in there. Nick knows that the one area that we must focus on is possession of the football and not giving the football away.”

O’Connell elected to start rookie Jaren Hall in the Week 17 matchup against Green Bay largely due to Mullens’ six interceptions in two games. But Hall was ineffective in the first half, completing just 5-of-10 passes with an interception. Mullens played the second half and went 13-of-22 for 113 yards with a touchdown.

In four games with two starts this season, Mullens has completed 67.3 percent of his throws for 910 yards with five touchdowns and six picks.

O’Connell noted he has not yet determined if Hall or Joshua Dobbs will be the backup quarterback behind Mullens this week.

Either way, the Vikings need some improved quarterback play to have a chance to beat Detroit and potentially make the postseason.

Yeah Jaren Hall did not have a good game but Offensive line did not help him seemed like he was always running for his life, but c'mon KOC Jaren Hall you just crushed the young man's confidence you could have let him finish the game instead you put in Nick Mullens 2nd half he was like duh what do I do...and did you see the look on Jaren Hall face it was like trade me or cut me I'm out of here

Im not sure what is going on, Baddman. Sure will be interesting to see what they do come draft time. Sitting at 12 and the ability to resign Cousins for 2 years is going to be fun.

Im all for signing Cousins for 2 more years and paying the man... draft a QB and let Cousins teach, thats my take at this moment.

Drafting a rookie QB is a must! Capt Kirk can teach him and Justin Jefferson how to be a professional football player and not a knuckle head and its way past time for the coaching staff to step up there game GO VIKINGS time to be elite

Ive bitched about Mullens quite a bit this season, but he just made a monster play for a 1st down... very gutsy.
